05/29/26 first time going here. I had an appointment to get my eyes thoroughly examined. Kelsey Alcocer OD found the problem I was having and wrote a correct prescription for new lenses. She is patient and very good at her job. the entire staff were polite and professional. I had a very good experience going here. the atmosphere was relaxed and not hurried. She looked at my insurance to see what it would cover and she explained it to me. She made my experience very easy and she had a delightful personality. I had an appointment today and went in expecting to be greeted by someone at the front desk to be checked in. There was no one there. Two women were assisting customers and clearly saw me standing there. Instead of saying, someone will be right with you or asking if I was there to pick up a prescription or an exam, they ignored me. I waited for 7 minutes and then walked out. What a waste of my time. Avoid this place. I'll be sure to tell all my friends and post this on all my social media. read more

I've been to optical outlets on east bay Dr 5 years in a row because I thought it was the only place locally that took my insurance. Every single time, with rare exception the staff was so rude that I felt like I was in a 3rd world country with a 'take it or leave it" attitude. The Dr was fine but he has retired. The new Dr has an elevated level of arrogance. If you don't answer immediately "which one is better, this one or this one" he sighs heavily and makes you feel like an idiot who's wasting his time. When he asks questions, its with a machine gun tone and answers are expected without hesitation. The rudeness and arrogance is just too much. I decided I'd rather pay out of pocket than to endure the belittlement one more time. Luckily, I found out several other places now accept my insurance. I am soooo relieved that I will never have to go back there ever again! read more

Went here for new glasses. No sign in or greeter so no idea what order to be seen or to check in. Just seats and staff talking amongst themselves. They talk about the other clients behavior in front of you. When 3 weeks had passed and I received no notification of my new glasses I called in and attempted to check on order, unable to do so. After 3 calls I was finally able to talk to a person and discovered that my glasses had arrived a week before and they had not notified me. Very disorganized and unprofessional. Will not go back even though this is where my insurance sent me. read more

Optical outlets is a scam. They advertise that I exam for $69. But after the exam my insurance was billed $144. Their cheapest frames were $115 and it was progressive lenses. UV block tinted a total price for the one pair of glasses would be like $700. All they do is have a system to upsell you and charge you more money than competitors. And for the staff I can't say anything good except that I was smart enough to leave without placing an order. read more

I came to Optical Outlets for a eye exam a few weeks ago the new doctor is great. Gracie help me and my mother with choosing glasses and lenses with different options. I came this pass week to pick up my glasses and my mother's. I been wearing them for a whole week. I am very happy with them. I was really impressed with their professionalism and customer service. front desk was nice but the eye doctor saw me for maybe 10 minutes ... fastest appointment I've ever had. He examined my eyes barely and sent me on my way saying I didn't need glasses even though I've had glasses since I can remember. This is the third time I have gone back to have my glasses only to be told the frames are too big and that "you picked them" and that was without tech assistance! Exchanging them will be the same cost as I paid EVEN WITH my insurance. I am going to call my insurance company to protest the claim and give them their garbage glasses back. read more

Stopped by to find out the cost of eyeglasses. The door was open, no one was up front. We waited about 7 mins, the manager came out, and you can tell she was angry that we interrupted her lunch. My hubby, son, and I, get glasses from this place, every year. Immediately she said, frames starts at $400. Progressive at $200. From exam to glasses we were looking at $2,130. + tax for the three of us One pair each. No coupons. She was rude and nasty, and climbed up and sat on the back of the chair, as if shes in a bar talking to us. Talk about representing the company. We went to Sam's, got 3 pairs of eyeglasses, for under $1,000 with beautiful friendly caring customer service people. I will never set foot at that place again, also.. it's not the first time they have messed up my eyeglasses by wrong measurements. The absolute WORST glasses I've ever owned. I've worn glasses my entire life and I know how to properly care for them. These glasses had scratches within a couple of months. And there's no warranty against scratches on the anti-glare lenses. My previous pair of glasses had a LIFETIME warranty on the lenses and they didn't cost a whole lot more than the garbage I got at Optical Outlets. And the prices aren't great at all. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and buy from a reputable optical shop. read more

Fastest eye exam I have ever had. Under 10 mins. The place is dirty. Worst eye exam I have ever had.

I went and got my new glasses two weeks ago at optical outlet Largo I did not get my exam there so I cannot rate that but I can rate the customer service that I got getting my glasses and returning to get my glasses both times I had Gracie Who was not only friendly but very helpful and picking out my friends I have no idea where these negative reviews are coming from because I thought personally it was excellent customer service I will go back again and I will recommend then two other people read more

I have no complaint about Dr Plante or actual eye exam but the staff is terrible! First I had a new insurance and called ahead to ask if any charge for exam and so told absolutely none. After exam when ordering glasses I was told there WAS a charge and had no choice but to pay. I asked to have glasses delivered to home and was charged an extra charge for this also although last year there was no charge. Then six days after exam I received email saying glasses were ready for pickup. I called and explained they were to be mailed and was told yes they went out today & I would receive them in 3-5 days. 9 days later I again called that I had not received them and was told the lines were busy to reach facility that sends them but they would get hold of them and glasses would definitely be sent out immediately & to expect them in 3-5 days. I then called back a couple of days later to check this had been done this time and was told she didn't know who told me that but glasses were there so I told her to keep them and I would pick them up in two days and she said she would make sure they were kept there. Morning of pickup I called ahead to verify glasses would be available and was told they WERE NOT there but had been mailed. So again I am waiting for mail. Each call I got a different girl and did not think to write their names down but the whole staff really needs a refresher course on taking orders and working with clients. read more

My visit to Optical Outlet on 12/6/17 was very satisfying. while waiting to see Dr Plante, Gracie asked if I was getting glasses and was very helpful in explaining my Insurance benefits and assisted me in my selection of glasses. Her thoughtfulness and product knowledge made it easier in my selection for which I am grateful. Dr Plante, what can I say, It was my first visit after being released from my Specialist at the Eye Institute where I was referred by Dr Plante last year. I am eternally grateful for Dr Plante's thorough evaluation and honesty in letting me know that he could not help me with the issues I was having at the time and referred me to the Eye Institute. His decision saved my eye sight so I am back for new glasses and delighted with the service here. Thanks to all the staff and Dr. Plante. I can see clearly now.. happy read more

I've been seeing Dr. Plante for more than a decade and I can still sight read music in the middle of the night with my glasses on. I can't say enough about how professional he and his staff are. They are friendly, too. Gracie did everything she could to make sure I got my lenses within my budget, and she is so wonderful and kind. I trust Dr. Plante with my vision because he has the skill and knowledge to save people's vision. Yes, they are busy because so many receive excellent care and service. Doctor was great. People seemed great accept for one woman with red highlights. She got up and walked out while still helping us. Rude as can be. This store is just a meat factory. Over booked appointments resulted in a 40 minute delay in the eye exam. While waiting the 20 minutes for my eyes to dilate, one of the "sales persons" chastised me for taking a walk instead of negotiating a pair of glasses with her. The Staff at Optical Outlets Largo are knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Plante was thorough in his exam and explanation of my results. Rachel (sp?) and Grace were very patient with some not-so-nice callers and kept their cool when parents left their children run amok in the busy waiting area. I've been a patient here for years. Once I tried another 'cheaper' place, who got my prescription wrong and wanted to charge me again to correct it! Office refused to treat my daughter for something that was 100% covered by her insurance because we wouldn't pay up front and they refused to call the insurance to verify. Went somewhere else and found out it's their fault her eyes were hurting... her prescription and her glasses did not match. read more

I get the impression this place has different Dr.s that work here. I could be wrong,,, Anyway, my appointment was the weirdest and worst in my optometric (is that a word?) life. The office is very small but more importantly it comes off cheap. As if you could drive by the next day and it would be gone. The "Dr" was the rudest optometrist Iv ever had. In fact Iv never met a rude one, until I met him. He literally may have said 3 words beyond what was necessary to give an exam. 1] He didn't greet me. 2] Gave a rushed exam, that was nowhere near thorough. 3] When the exam was over he just motioned to the door. Didn't say a word. Just weird and rude. 4] Prescription was waaaay off. Glasses rendered useless. Ive had eyewear since childhood, and lets just say Im a woman 'of years' and this place was the worst Iv been to in my life!! No exaggeration. Avoid at all costs! ON A POSITIVE NOTE: I must say the receptionists were very friendly, so this place gets one extra star for that alone. read more

Terrible management and service. They didn't acknowledge me for over an hour and until I questioned what the delay was. My insurance was accepted until I showed up for the appointment, they charge you for everything, far more than what any insurance covers. I did all paperwork online and had confirmation but they insisted they needed it again. Had I not complained to the front desk, they would have left me sitting there all day. The bottom line is the experience was very stressful from start to finish. Usually I leave businesses good reviews but after this catastrophe I really thought new patients should know what they could expect dealing with this business location. I'm also contacting the district manager and corporate office to discuss their advertising practices. This place scams people. We were talked into buying insurance for my new glasses, which we indeed bought. But then a couple months later when the cheap frames broke, they said we had never bought the insurance and if we did it was only for 90 days which we were NEVER told. The wait times are ridiculous. Expect to be there for hours if you plan to visit this location. They seem to be severely understaffed. I went to pick up my glasses, something that takes 2 minutes and sat there for 45 minutes. There is only one doctor and he is friendly, but you will feel incredibly rushed. Be very careful and verify your co-pay with your insurance company prior to your appointment. When I took my daughter's in for their exams I was told we had to pay over $100. This was after the doctor exam. When we signed in I asked if they needed to copy the insurance cards and I was told we were fine. At the end we met with a woman and she said that we have to pay 90% and the insurance pays 10%. It was the opposite! I called our insurance company to verify and was told our responsibility was 10% They did issue a refund. It takes 5-7 business days to show up though... I wonder how many people have been overcharged before. The waiting room is tiny and which elevates the noise level. I also overheard a staff member speaking negatively about someone who had called to another staff member. That's just unprofessional. The only positive experience we got from Optical Outlets is the care from Dr. Plante. He was very good with our girls. read more

I went in for exam on 11/9 to order contacts. Dr. Plante was very thorough. All staff were professional. Joyce, who placed order for my unusual contacts, was very pleasant and took her time to make sure everything was entered correctly. I would rather wait a few minutes and get a quality product than be rushed through the process and risk getting the wrong prescription. I have used other providers in the past that did not pay as much attention to details. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Mike was such a wonderful help, even when my eyes were too dilated to read the price sticker on the glasses! The original pair of glasses I wanted were out of my budget so he looked around and found a pair closest to the first ones. Great customer service and professionalism. The staff told me that they were unable to find out what my co-pay would be with my insurance at the time, but they would have that information when I arrived for my exam. Well, that was a lie. After waiting in their office for 30 minutes, they finally told me that my insurance wasn't accepted by them, but I could still go back for an eye exam if I wanted to. Meanwhile, a 5 minute phone conversation with LensCrafters not only told me that my insurance was accepted and what my cost would be, but also got me an appointment.
