I started out going to this shop to get my daughter's eyeglasses repaired. When I entered and saw the beautiful jewelry... I WAS HOOKED. BEST PART the Jeweler/Gemologist can bring your vision of diamonds, gold & platinum to life. He makes custom jewelry. I searched for years to find an earring I wanted for my birthday. Yes, he made it for me, and it turned out PERFECT! This earring was very unique, and I received nothing but compliments when I wore it. I never took it out, so it wasn't surprising that a diamond came out. It was a teardrop diamond one not easily replacable. I know because I had taken it to 3 other jewelry shops to get fixed. What a wonderful experience I had at Grey's last week. I stopped to see if I could get my Apple Watch watchband repaired after several feeble attempts that were beyond my capability. I walked in and immediately felt a welcoming vibe from the customers and Mr. Grey. We joked and laughed for a minute and he asked how he could help me. This is where it got very interesting! Mr. Grey asked to see the watch and looked at it while I told him my "tale of woe" and, after a few seconds, I looked up, he handed my watch back, and the band was on it. I was astonished. Jokingly, he said that he was "sorry to show me up.." and I laughed. I was grateful and stunned, and it proved the point that if you want something done right, find the person with the knowledge, skill, and experience to get it done! A local optician was so kind to share details about the optical workshop when I was looking for a last ditch solution to for a pair of expensive frames that required new hinges. To my surprise they were able to repair the frames along with another set of glasses and a bracelet. On my next visit, I'll make sure to check out the jewelry they have for sale. First time here I ordered a wedding band. When I finally received a phone call 5 months later to pick it up. I was already married and had to order my husband's wedding band elsewhere. There a not many Jewelry stores that will do repairs the same day so I applaud them for that and want to give this place another chance. I've spent about 3k here total. My husband bought me a new platinum band here for me. It was very thick for my comfort, style, and my line of work. I contacted Mr. Gray literally the next day. He wasn't able to refund me, but said he wanted to me to be happy. We discussed options and as you see in the text. I was not rude nor demanding and felt I was very patient if you pay attention to the timeline. I am disappointed as I find him to be very unprofessional as he completely ignored me and not pick up my call. I guess who cares when you already got my money right? I had six watches that needed batteries. So I thought I'd found a good place that take them. Boy was I wrong. 1. I was promised I'd have them back in a week. That didn't happen try more like 5 with no exaggeration. 2. When I had got my watches back I was back there within three to four months because three of my watches batteries were dead. And then he wanted to charge me to replace them. Really! Correct me if I'm wrong, watch battery replacement typically last about a year or better. 3. Will never take anything I own back to them to repair. This was a horrible experience especially having to run back and forth to get something that you paid for it's like I paid for it three times. read more

I generally go to a watch shop on the Decatur commons to get my father's watches fixed, however, as I was visiting my parents south of Atlanta this shop was much closer so I decided to stop in to see them. The customer service was excellent from the person who greeted me as I walked in (despite a busy waiting area) to Mr. Gray who explained what would need to be done to the watch. I have been paying about $20.00 to get my father's watch batteries replaced in Decatur but Mr. Grey charged me $10.00 and had it back to me an hour later (I tipped them $1.50 for a total replacement cost of $11.50). The quote for fixing the crystal watch face was a bit higher than I expected but Mr. Grey said he might be able to work something out with me if I purchased the crystal myself from the manufacturer. Overall, excellent customer service and a reminder as to why it is important to shop small and the customer service experience that you can get when you do. read more

A few worlds about Mr Gray and Grays Jewelers, I have been a customer for many years now and always enjoy stopping in to see what's new and shiny. For Christmas I received a beautiful new diamond ring. Unfortunatley, needed to be sized. I dropped in on Thursday Dec 30. I asked Mr Wayne could have me done by Sat as I was leaving town for work on Monday and wouldnt be back for a long while. I was told "no problem" please come by tomorrow by 230 pm. Forgetting it was NYE I arrived @1:30. They had closed at noon!! I was panicked!! I called and left a message and left an email and Facebook message to see what we could do as I didn't want to leave town without my gorgeous new ring. Great fast & reliable customer service. Purchased an online Iwatch band and could not remove the links with the tools it came with. So I yelped watch repair & found Optical Workshop. It took about 10 minutes & 10 dollars later. I was so happy since I haven't been able to wear my I watch for 2 months I decided to give a 5$ tip (not required).. thought since I give it to my local barista why not my new watch repairer. This shop is fine if you need your watch fixed, but members of my family took our two grandfather type wall clocks in to be repaired. The shop has several of these clocks on display so we assumed they had experience in repairing this type of clock. Between the two clocks we made at least six trips back to this shop trying to get the clocks to work properly. We gave up on this shop for repairs. Neither clock is functional. read more

Went in to have a watch band repaired, needed a link pin replaced. Watch band link was soldered as part of the repair and though not too unsightly it is not what was expected. About a year ago I had a battery in my watch replaced by Optical Workshop. I received excellent customer service so of course when I needed another one I came back. I was told that it would take about 10 minutes. I informed the young man who took my watch that I was having lunch with a girlfriend. I asked him if it would be ok for me to return in about an hour to pick the watch up. He told me yes and off I went. I returned 2 hours later and the young man informed me that he had put a battery in but need the owner Wayne Gray to calibrate the watch and set the time. I asked him how much longer it would take. He went and asked Mr. Gray who responded he won't do it. Shocked and surprised at this response I asked to see Mr. Gray. When he came to the counter I asked him why he would not complete the job. He said he had other work to complete. I told him I can understand if there are customers ahead of me but to respond to me the way he did was not very good customer service. Mr. Gray laughed and I did also thinking that maybe he was just having a bad day. He asked if I could leave the watch and he would get to it in a couple of days. Since it was July 1, I figured he probably had customers that wanted their items for the holiday (July 4). I told him I can leave the watch but it would be about a week before I could get back to pick it up. He assured me that it would not be a problem. We exchanged some casual conversation about the traffic around the McDonough square and I departed. Today (July 13th) I returned to pick up my watch. The assistant (who is a very nice young man) went to get my watch. However, Mr. Gray emerge from the back of the store with my watch and informed me that he had not set the watch or calibrated it. The watch is a waterproof fitness watch. The manufacturer recommendation that the battery be replaced by a professional to guarantee it is done correctly and that the watch remains waterproof. When I asked why the watch was not completed, Mr. Gray informed me that he could not find a manual. Of course, I was confused because Mr. Gray had replaced the battery a year ago, set the time, and calibrated the watch. I informed Mr. Gray that I still have everything that came with the watch and if he had just called me I would have brought it to him. He replied " 20 minutes and a cup of tea". Not understanding what he was saying I said excuse me. He repeated, "20 minutes and a cut a tea". Confused I told him I don't understand what he is saying to which he replied, "then it should take you 20 minutes and a cup of tea to do it yourself". I looked at him and said, "is this the type of customer service you provide now. If you did not want to fix my watch you could have told me the day I dropped it off." I asked him how much did I owe him. He informed me that it was $10.00. I commented to him that he expected me to pay the full price even though he did not complete the job. He stated that he did complete the job, he put a battery in the watch. I replied that the battery was in the watch over a week ago when he asked me to leave it so he could set the time and calibrate the watch. I paid the $10.00 and then I told him the following: "I know you have been in this community for a long time and have many customers but customer service still matters." He offered no apology for having inconvenienced me or blatantly lied about the service he would provide. Needless to say, I will never do business with Mr. Gray again. read more
