I broke my glasses (long story) and was desperately in need of new ones. I happened to be in our local mall and I stumbled upon Optical World on the second floor of King of Prussia Plaza. The glasses were ok, but it was tough to get a price out of the salesman. When I could read the bill, I understood why. A pair of simple brown plastic glasses ended up costing me $986.00. I was told that my glasses would be ready in 8 days and placed the order. when I called to confirm they were ready, they told me another 2 weeks! Very deceptive and was also told I could not cancel the order. Not very happy Their prices are also very high so one would think they would offer better, faster service!!! read more

I was excited about this place because they have designer frames, but I was shocked at how rude the employee was to me. 1) I had to wait 10 minutes before anyone even spoke to me. 2) They lock up their glasses so if no one helps you, then you can't try anything on. 3) They yelled at me when I tried to take a picture of myself. I kindly told the employee that I had to send them to my wife to see if she liked them (It's important to have your wife like how you look! haha). The employee was only angered by this and accused me of lying. 4) I tried to give them one more chance, so I called back and asked if they carried a certain frame. When I started to mention the model number, the employee interrupted me (a different employee than the one mentioned above). They interrupted me and told me that "it would take too much time to look that up." I asked if there was any way that I could find out and the employee offered me no solutions. Listen, I'm not someone who needs to be coddled and hugged when I walk into a store, but the way Optical World treats their customers is terrible. If you want to wayyy over pay for glasses than this place is right for you. Went there 3 weeks ago and picked up a pair of Cartier frames, they took measurements , sent it to be done as prescription glasses and paid almost $1700 just for the frame. Ok I was happy bcz I really liked them. The next day we went to Eye chick in short hills mall and I almost threw up , the same frame there was $ 1045, why, why are you people in optical world in king of Prussia mall are charging over $600 more ????? Whyyy??? But this is not the end yet, ok they agreed to give me $200 back after I showed the lady the sticker price from the other place. I waited over 2 weeks and got a call my glasses are ready. Drive over an hour there, and of course they made mistake glasses were not there. Ok went home , 2 days later I got a call that my glasses came But the lab didn't make the lenses the way I ordered , THANK God!!!! I asked for my money back and got refunded!!! I am giving them two stars for their collection of beautiful designer frames, but otherwise they would get only one. The prices are outrageous and overpriced. They purposely cover model numbers on frames so you cannot try to find them elsewhere. Well I did anyway! Suggested retail value through the designer is $169 and can be found through online retailers for $100-130..Optical world was selling them to me for $249. Also their simplest non premium lenses start at $139. Not an honest retailer. read more

One and only Pro: Great selection of designer frames that are hard to find elsewhere. Cons: 1. I was willing to overlook the fact that all the frames are locked up and that I needed to point out what I wanted my husband to try on....not efficient. I could even understand the rationale behind it though....the items are pricey. 2. I was even willing to overlook the horrible people skills of the female employee helping us (older woman). Seriously she had the personality of a wet mop....I think a corpse would show more life and enthusiasm. 3. Found a pair of Ray Bans my husband loved and found out that Optical World didn't take our insurance. Fine. No problem. We figured they were Ray Ban frames and we could find them elsewhere by searching a catalog or online, plus the saleswoman there took our name and wrote the model # down for future reference should we have needed it. Well....I just called back and explained that we have had no luck finding those frames and asked if she could she please help me identify which ones they were. She refused to share the information with me. I am stunned. I told her that I was actually glad I was NOT purchasing the frames there and thanked her for nothing. 4. Prices are hugely inflated. I WISH I had read the other reviews here before we wasted our time visiting Optical World in the first place. Apparantly our experience was NOT an isolated incident! I purchased glasses here multiple times throughout the years. I've only just realized how inflated the prices were. A pair of Chanel frames were on "sale" for $705 and therefore I could not use VSP for further discount. I was still going to purchase. I asked what the original price was and the sales woman tells me $1100. I do a little research on my own and on the Chanel website the glasses retail for $715. I'm appalled and sickened how much money I've given them in the past. They will never have my business again. If you're reading this, do yourself a favor and stay far far away. read more

I had a very poor experience with Optical World in the KOP mall. I do like their frame selection, but the customer service is poor. Specifically, the staff was argumentative and unapologetic when they messed up my lenses. When I was still unhappy with the lenses after three attempts, they refused to refund me the cost of the lenses so I could get them done somewhere else. I recommend avoiding them. read more

Fantastic frames, terrible service. I realize I ordered my glasses two days before christmas, and that I live out of town, however I was assured they would be ready before I left town over a week later. They weren't. Not only did I have to ask them to rush the order and leave later than anticipated, they forgot I had ordered two pair and only rushed the first. They volunteered to send my sunglasses to my home and told me they would ship on Monday, they weren't. For the cost of the glasses (nearly $1000 for two pair) I expect better. In addition, there seems to only be one woman working in the place, which adds a lot of wait time. read more

One star for the selection of frames. I WAS a customer of Optical World for over ten years. Knowing the prices were already inflated (and not advertised on the frame) has not been an issue as I have vision insurance. Today I learned that they consider insurance a "discount" and increase the charge for utilization of such! Not a small up charge but hundreds of dollars. With this information I went to take a picture of my chosen frame and had the glasses literally ripped from my hand in an aggressive, unprofessional and disturbing fashion by Patricia. The frames are nice but they have pretty horrible customer service and my husband's glass lenses were scratched TWICE and they do not offer refund. They explained scratches on lenses as "human error" factor but after lenses have been changed -they are scratched again - what a horrible service. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. The customer service was horrible. The sales lady just stood there awkwardly staring off into space as I was trying on frames, and did not recommend any glasses or help me at all. I noticed that they cover the model numbers with tape so you can't find them elsewhere, because if you did you would realize how over priced their frames are and how crooked they are to hike up the prices so much. My recommendation is to avoid this place like the plague and go anywhere else. read more

They are way overpriced. I bought the same pair of Chanel Sunglasses that they told me were almost $800.00 right next door at Neiman Marcus for $460.00. I was truly disappointed as I have been doing business with them for almost 10 years. I priced 3 other pairs, a pair of Gucci sunglasses they had there i was told were $600.0, i bought the same pair at Neiman Marcus Last Call for $99.00, a pair of Gaultier Eyeglasses that i found at another opticians for $139.00 that they stated were $440.00 and also a Pair of Cartier they wanted $680.00 for i found for $360.00 elsewhere. They need to really rethink about how bad they are overcharging customers, and do the right thing. read more

Went of an exam and to get glasses in Mid/late Feb 2011. I was told i needed a new 'Script with bifocals. I have returned 5 times and each time the lenses are not correct, blurred vision, even had a 2nd exam , this time the Dr had to adjust my 'script again, so i have made 5 visits/attempts to pick up my new glasses (Over $400) and now in April 8th they are still not ready. I have cancelled the order, called AmEx and made sure they would not pay Optical World 1 cent! Each visit i was told a different reason why they do not work...and today the Dr would not listen to me...He had another reason for my blurred vision. I said I wanted a refund, and in typicla fashion the Dr pointed to the employee and the employee told me I needed to speak with the Dr...Who is on 1st? They are Rude, It is Dr's like this that give the good Dr's in the world a bad rap! I will never again walk into that store or even suggest them! read more
