This happened once before, but the pain was much less severe. After my visit, I found out that the treatment I was given was not the best. First, the nurse took an X-Ray. I was advised that due to the way my pain began, there was little likelihood that the X-Ray would show the cause of my pain, and it exposed me to unnecessary radiation. Next, after a brief exam, Dr. Huntt said, "I will get you a cortisone shot, that's what you're here for." I told him that was not the case. I just wanted to find out the cause of my shoulder pain. I was worried it could be a problem with my rotator cuff. I had taken no medication for it, as it only hurt when I raised my arm a certain way. I asked him if a cortisone shot was the prescribed treatment for my condition, and he said yes. So, I let him administer the shot. I later found out, that it was overkill, and that a trial of less potent medicine, such as an over the counter drug Aleve, may have been a better way to go. I did not realize how strong the cortisone shot was, nor did I know that it was harmful to me due to my medical history (which he had) of hypothyroidism (for which I am on medication). You may reference this article (one of many I found): http://www.naturalendocrinesolutions.com/archives/the-dangers-of-steroid-medications-how-they-affect-thyroid-health/. Here is a quote from the article: "The way that corticosteroids can cause the development of hypothyroidism, or worsen it in individuals who already have this condition, is by reducing or stopping the secretion of TSH. This in turn will result in a reduction of thyroid hormone in the body." Why was Dr. Huntt unaware of this??? Did he read my medical history??? Enough said..... I wish I had been more informed. I had no idea that a cortisone injection would be recommended by the doctor, so I never looked into it in advance. Too late now for me.

I first encountered the sidewalk lined with rocking chairs, similar to what Cracker Barrel restaurant do. It was very difficult to go down the sidewalk using a walker with rocking chairs taking up more than half of the sidewalk space. Next, I encountered the entrance door which unlike most doctors offices in this area do not have the automatic door opening control. For those that with difficult walking and need walking aids, this can be a problem. It is an older building and the doorway is narrow and it was difficult getting the walker through the door. Not long after I got in, I saw a man on crutches having the similar problem. This business shares a lobby with a chiropractor office. The lobby was full of chairs and benches designed for people who do not have to maneuver a walker. This business is NOT handicapped friendly. Members of the staff and nursing staff I encountered were cold and robotic. I did not see anyone smile or say hello. After waiting 20 minutes to see the doctor, I saw him less than five and his conclusion for my issue was , quoto, You need learn to live with the pain and see a pain management specialist, This was a first for me and never had a doctor told me to live with the pain I will not go back to this business or doctor and highly recommend no one else does either, especially if you're handicapped.

When the rescheduled appointment neared, once again they called to cancel. A third appointment was made, I purposely asked for August 15th which would coincide with him getting his pain meds as it's a very painful, invasive procedure. I called a few days ahead of the August 15 appointment to confirm it & at that time they inform me the appointment is for August 26th, instead of the agreed upon date of August 15. All of these cancellations were NO fault of my husband's as it was the office who cancelled each time. Yet, they can't be bothered to offer an apology - just nothing but straight up rudeness & a nasty attitude, despite it being their incompetence as the cause. Unbelievable! In the meantime, my husband's annual CANCER appointment is now overdue by FOUR MONTHS. That's very dangerous to be that delayed but yet they could care less. They office staff showed no concern about that just rudeness & negligence on their part. Very disappointing, sad & scary the disregard they have for the health of their patients. Dr. Taub himself is a good doctor, it's too bad his office staff aren't on the same level.

He was able to remove several kidney stones from my right kidney, including one rather large one, while I was under anesthesia. The surgery only left a small scar on the right side of my back. He sent me home with enough medication to get me through the healing process with very little pain. He also went out of his way to try different medications to ease the spasms from the stent he left in my kidney. Leaving the stent was his way of protecting my ureter from an enlarged uterus pressing on it, and also to make it easier for the gynecologist to see it when he performed my hysterectomy. I still have kidney stones in my left kidney, which he said we will discuss options for in the next month or so. I trust Dr. Dersch completely and know he has my best interest at heart (that's not something many can say about their doctor). I would never want to go to another urologist. He is very kind, understanding, and patient. He explains procedures to my daughter and I in words that are very easy to understand, answers any questions we ask, and makes us feel safe and at ease. He also has kind eyes, a sweet smile, and treats his patients with respect. I highly recommend him.
