For the love of god, DO NOT pay a dime to these guys!! If you have ANY other options, it would benefit you to explore those choices. Service goes out at least once a month (usually more) and all they want to do is charge more money. Most, if not all, of these outages are NOT storm related...just goes out. HORRIBLE customer service, no help. Won't offer credits because, according to them, there's no record of all the outages they actually have...that's up to me to call every time it goes out and log it with them...who has that much time? Service interruptions constantly. Extremely poor customer service. It took 2 months after I started and paid for service to actually get service hooked up. They also said they would come back to burry the line.....after 2.5 years and many many calls it still wasnt buried. I had to buy a pole saw to trim trees because the maintenance guy drove by 4 different times and said there were limbs in his way and he couldnt hook up service i actually had to negotiate that ill cut the limbs and help run the service to my house. Once we bought a house canceled their service to our rental they charged me for another month. Don't trust this company. read more

Optimum is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are so insulated it is nearly impossible to speak to a person about installation and billing problems, of which there have been many. When you do get a person they literally read from a script and do not address the problem. They lie, hang up on you, refuse to transfer you to a supervisor who has more authority to handle a problem, and they are rude. They have done property damage while installing wifi, cut the neighbor's cables and left a damaged mess inside the house as well as outside. Big mistake doing business with Optimum. read more

The call center reps have beyond poor comprehension skills, are horrific communicators, and zero appreciate for how terrible the customer experience is. The sales team is lazy, lacks critical thinking skills ("your address isn't showing up in our system, so we don't service you and cancelled everything you setup online. If I could give negative stars, I would. My parents are not tech savvy whatsoever, so their prior service of 100mb/s was sufficient for their day to day. However, when reaching out about the poor WiFi connectivity in March 2025, I was alerted that they could save quite a bit per month by switching to Fiber. Considering they were being charged roughly $350 for 100mb/s internet, cable, and phone it made sense, as the total bill would be reduced to $180 (pre-tax). Fast forward to June 2025, the bill has spiked back up to $350. When contacting an Optimum rep, I was told that the $180 was a promotion that had ended. Best part? At no point was I alerted of this promo, and had actually confirmed several times with the representative that $180 + tax would be my price going forward. This was confirmed several times in a row by the representative. When pulling up that prior chat log, they are able to see that the rep did in fact confirm that it was my price going forward, and never mentioned anything related to promotions. Rather than correct the issue, they actually tried to shift the blame to me, by saying that if I looked at my bill I would have seen this. From there I was directed to contact customer service via phone, as apparently this request can't be handled online. After 40 minutes on hold, I was provided a representative who kept providing me incorrect account information, calling me by the wrong name, talked me in circles, and could not understand what my issue is. At this point, we have given up and are exploring alternatives. It seems that Optimum has somehow survived as a company while conducting shady business practices, dodging customer inquiries, and hoping that confusion/frustration outweighs the customer's cause for concern. read more

I called for information on service and wind up getting an appointment for installation with out my consent and when I turn the installer away, I wind up getting new appointment for the following day or the following week. They are horrible. I called them and they said you need to cancel my account. I said I never had an account and they just keep transferring me over and over I cannot stress how starving they are for customers. read more

Literally 0 stars! I wish I read reviews before deciding to begin service with them. Bottom line, DON'T DO IT! Run the other way! Here is a timeline of events since I made the mistake of ordering internet service with them on July 27th. - Prepaid $25 for 300mbps internet -installer no-showed my installation date -customer service assigned someone else to install 2 hours later -the replacement installer called me to say "I'm in New Jersey won't make it" -called to cancel my order, was told I'd receive a refund for $25 -received no refund 10 days later -called to check on refund, told that I received a $25 credit to my account -re requested to be refunded to my card on file -was assured I'd receive refund in 10-25 days Throughout, no agent was able to provide me with their agent number, or provide a confirmation number of the refund, nor a confirmation email of the cancellation of my original order. This company is a scam. I'm convinced their design is to keep the $25 prepayment and provide poor service so that you will cancel and disregard the refund. Multiply that by x number of people they do this with and there you have it, a fraudulent company designed to waste your time and money. read more

I've had the same problem for a year now with the wireless connectivity in my home. Optimum offers only the same steps that never resolve this chronic issue. They even offer me extenders (in my 1200 square foot box) for an extra charge. I'm aggressively campaigning for Verizon to come to our community. I have many friends that have similar problems (or unannounced price hikes) and we are starting a grassroots movement to introduce some healthy competition into our community. Today, I called to cancel my internet service, which I had for several years. We decided to switch to Allo because they were a bit cheaper and we kept having issues with our internet. My husband had already arranged for Allo to come and set everything up, and he asked me to call Optimum to cancel our service. I spoke to an operator named Glen, operator number BWO (though I'm not sure he provided the correct information). Despite explaining multiple times that I wanted to cancel, he kept pressuring me to stay. Normally, customer service might try a few times to retain a customer, but I had to repeat to him 10-20 times that I was not interested in staying. It reached a point where I had to ask for his name and speak with his supervisor because he was refusing to process my cancellation. He wouldn't transfer me to his supervisor and kept me on the call, essentially holding me hostage while continuing to offer me options. He ignored me and spoke over me, persisting in telling me about the offers he had. I eventually had to hang up and speak to someone else, and I asked her to file a complaint about this employee. I've never encountered such a rude customer service employee. Someone should review this conversation and consider disciplinary action because his behavior reflects extremely poorly on the company. read more

EXTREMELY disappointed! I've had Cablevision for 30 years. They told me I should switch to the fiber optics because I was asking for a lower bill. It's a bit lower, but still very expensive. You would think you could get a break after 30 years. The service on the fiber optics is awful. There is no timer and the TV shuts off every four hours even if you shut off the energy saver. If I want to keep the TV on, it's my business I'm paying for it - Sick of Are you still watching? I ridiculous! I would've never changed the service if I knew there was not going to be a timer. Plus it cuts out for no reason and changes the commercials . Mid stream & sometimes during shows It's just a terribly made service. I advise you to keep your old cable i they said they are no longer offering the old cable . Both optimum on and optimum mobile are the most unethical company I ever dealt with. Deceiving and cheat their customers. The hide and cheat behined so-called Pomotions. Jack up monthly charges with no explnantion whatsoever. To cancel phone service, their agents have been trained to cheat bu dishonest company management. One agent will switch to another agents and the process continues for 3-5 hours in the hope that you will give up. Then one of the agents will make you an attractive and 24 or 48 hours later you receive and email with monthly charges that is totally different that what the agent has offered you earlier. Then hide behind activation charges for a phone that you rejected and never accepted. Class suit action against optimum has not deterred from the same practice of cheating and deceiving. Every dirty trick in the book optimum agents will do to delay or refuse to provide you with port out pin number to cancel the service with optimum and they are well aware of the fact that this practice of refusing to release the PIN number is against the FCC rule, only stating that you will write to the FCC, then the PIN number to cancel the service is then release. read more

Worst customer service! I was lied to over and over about ways to save money. Spent over 1 hour on the phone, was told complete nonsense, was told I would be called back and of course I wasn't. Then spent another hour in a chat with 3 different reps. Again was lied to. One rep said one thing and the next said something else. I also received an email from them saying I was being charged an additional $10/mo for an upgrade to 300 Mbps. I ALREADY HAVE 300 Mbps! What is going on?!? I think their reps are told to waste as much time as possible because most people don't have 2 hours to waste. Not sure if Verizon is any better. OPTIMUM - UNPROFESIONAL SERVICE Stay away from Optimum mobile!! I had internet service with them for a year. The price jumped 60%! When I called to cancel the internet service, they offered me free mobile service along with a credit for $150. Upon transferring the lines, there was an issue with one of the lines and when I they called me to rectify it, I realized that some of what was promised was not included in the notes or the account. I requested that they cancel the service and the games began. I was on the phone with them for three days, three hours each day and they transferred me to at least 4 different people/ department each day. They stated that there were so many issues why they were unable to cancel the service. I had to record the call and the times and inform them of that. I will report them to Better Business Bureau and share the documentation and recordings that I have collected. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a company. Very unprofessional, pushy and incompetent service. Take heed and stay away from them!! Take my advice, do as I do, record everything, let them know this and get your confirmation number before you get off the line. My Optimum service was always very slow even with the 1GB plan, and I would be kicked off the internet regularly. When I tried to cancel to switch to another company, the retention representative kept me on the phone talking about all the things they could fix for me, and when I still asked to cancel, they hung up on me. When I called back a second time, the same thing happened. By the third time, I was already tired of it and kept asking to just have my service cancelled, but they kept on talking like they didn't hear me. I eventually gave up and told them I would just cancel in person. I'm pretty sure they are just following a script, but the customer service is terrible. I am not really sure how they operate any longer' My girlfriend called to discontinue service because we are moving. After a long wait, she got CS and they gave her this huge hassle and run around it was like speaking to an old time used car dealer. she couldn't make them understand that she didn't need the service any longer, they then transferred her to another department (essentially calling in a closer) and they proceeded to try and convince her to transfer service to her new home. (We have Fios there already) The level of amateurish tactics is embarrassing This whole company has gone steadily down hill in all aspects. When I truly couldn't take the wifi connection issues and poor cell phone service, I still am unable to cancel my wifi service because I wont agree to the terms of their policy to charge me for an additional month of service AFTER I returned the router!! Hello neighbors. I am contacting all Optimum customers and other carrier customers. In February, I called the Optimum Retention department at 877-694-9474 to inquire about their current promotions. At that time, I was paying $325.00 per month for Internet and TV. They quoted me a price of $168.00 for Fiber Optic and TV, but I also had to pay for one cell phone service for an additional $50.00 per month. This was a guaranteed price for 3 full years. Three months have passed and everything was fine. The setup of Fiber Optics took some time, but I never experienced any major issues with cable. Now, Optimum claims they have been undercharging me and raised my Internet and TV by $120.00 a month. Has anyone else experienced this? It appears that Optimum's sales strategy involves offering low prices to customers who switch to Fiber Optics and become their cell phone carrier, only to raise prices later despite assurances of a locked-in price. This is an unacceptable business practice that must be stopped. What actions can I take, and if other Optimum customers have been similarly misled, what can we do? Stay far, far away. Not only is their service spotty and unreliable but they are crooked. They manage to hold off cashing your check until they send out the following month's bill and add the previous "unpaid' amount to the total. This has happened at least two or three times. They held onto one check for a month. I know the post office is bad, but not that bad. They also cancelled my land line and told me they don't know how it happened, but a day later I still don't haver my phone back. They did manage to email me a bill for the "new service". I was planning on buying this internet for my move, but I didn't complete my order since I couldn't book a specific date to receive my modem. I was planning on completing the order as it got sooner. I received endless calls, texts, and emails from their sales team. I told them very explicitly "I am going to finish the order next week, please stop calling" they said ok! however, the calls never ended. It felt like a scam and ultimately hunted for ANY OTHER SERVICE. I had an Optimum appointment scheduled for today. Two years ago, I opened an Optimum account at another address before realizing I could use Verizon instead. I cancelled my Optimum service for that address immediately. Again, this was two years ago. Well, where did the Optimum technician go today? You guessed it--my old address. Even though Optimum must have that address marked as "cancelled" in their system, and I explicitly asked to begin service at my _new_ address. They didn't call or text me to confirm the address. They didn't provide an account I can log into to see which address the technician would go to (no, I need to have started service for that--why?). Instead, I had to talk to Customer Support for almost an hour before they understood the problem and agreed to send someone out tomorrow. I only hope that person can figure out which address to go to. In short, I wish I could still use Verizon. read more

THE WORST INTERNET SERVICE IN EXISTENCE. Our internet went out and me and my family member spent over a combined 15 hours trying to get in contact with them for service. After hours and hours of calls, a technical support appointment was made for days later and it was no help at all because it's an outside cable issue, not a personal one. The technical support appointment was useless because it was an outside problem. On top of waiting for hours, I was then LIED TO AND IGNORED--they said it was an outage that would be fixed early the next morning (there was never an outage!) and it, of course, was not fixed. After not having internet for 5 days and having been screwed over as a remote worker, we're being told there will not be a resolution for another week. So my delema contues with Optimum. On July 23rd I had my first of 4 appointments with them to have my old Optimum coaxial 1 G service upgraded to their new fiber 1 G service and it save me money. My bill would drop from $110 to $45 and August would be free. Well on their first attempt someone showed up and said that the fiber was not broadcasting or no signal on the pole, they needed to reschedule because the problem was on Orange Turnpike. So someone came the second week and again I was told the same thing and that a few people on my block have been without fiber internet for almost 2 weeks by that point. On week three, the third try, I kept be notified that the appointment was being delayed. And when the last notification came for the new expected time, I had to go to my night job, so I had to reschedule. So that brings us to today. Someone came at 8:30, without calling, that's fine he showed up. He said his machine is reading good signal, that's good. I asked him to please connect the fiber system up and make sure it's working before disconnecting the old system. But he instead cuts all the cables, instead of unscrewing them, then connects the fiber router to find out the signal dropped. Now I have no internet, he says he's only a fiber guy and doesn't have tools to connect coaxial wires. He'll put in a ticket to have things fixed by tomorrow the soonest. Have a great day. I called customer service they were of bbno help, they said we'll try fix it as soon a possible. Optimum has to have the worst customer service ever. We canceled our service in September, and I immediately returned the equipment to the Pilot Point store in Texas since they never sent a return label. I dropped off the equipment, watched the guy scan each item, and received the receipt, though it had the wrong date. (Why was a receipt given to me in September dated for July?) Now, they are trying to charge me $525 saying the equipment was never returned. They still have our address as somewhere we lived five years ago, even though we were receiving services at the new address. About a year prior to canceling, we had new equipment installed, so I'm guessing they never scanned the old equipment back in, and that's what they are trying to charge us for. I'm not putting up with this shakedown. Other neighbors have also complained, and I think that's enough to go to the local news. read more

So we finally had service restored after almost 5 full days! Three Optimum trucks finally showed up this morning. I spoke to the technician who was surprised that I had no service since Sunday. He said he just received a call from a dispatcher in a country he could not identify but he heard chickens in rhe background. So there's the answer. They identified an outage 5 days ago but it took them over 4 to send someone to fix it due to "communication issues." He was equally disgusted as I was and remarked how ironic it is for a communications company to fail so miserably at communicating. Beware of Optimum ! read more
