My Optimum service was always very slow even with the 1GB plan, and I would be kicked off the internet regularly. When I tried to cancel to switch to another company, the retention representative kept me on the phone talking about all the things they could fix for me, and when I still asked to cancel, they hung up on me. When I called back a second time, the same thing happened. By the third time, I was already tired of it and kept asking to just have my service cancelled, but they kept on talking like they didn't hear me. I eventually gave up and told them I would just cancel in person. I'm pretty sure they are just following a script, but the customer service is terrible. I am not really sure how they operate any longer' My girlfriend called to discontinue service because we are moving. After a long wait, she got CS and they gave her this huge hassle and run around it was like speaking to an old time used car dealer. she couldn't make them understand that she didn't need the service any longer, they then transferred her to another department (essentially calling in a closer) and they proceeded to try and convince her to transfer service to her new home. Just try and Cancel! Sure when you call to complain they are very accommodating to give you account credit and are extremely nice. When I truly couldn't take the wifi connection issues and poor cell phone service, I still am unable to cancel my wifi service because I wont agree to the terms of their policy to charge me for an additional month of service AFTER I returned the router!! They said because I wont say YES to the terms they cannot take my demand to cancel my service. oh A manager will call me within 48 hours, but the rep said he will say the same thing. Hello neighbors. I am contacting all Optimum customers and other carrier customers. In February, I called the Optimum Retention department at 877-694-9474 to inquire about their current promotions. At that time, I was paying $325.00 per month for Internet and TV. They quoted me a price of $168.00 for Fiber Optic and TV, but I also had to pay for one cell phone service for an additional $50.00 per month. This was a guaranteed price for 3 full years. Three months have passed and everything was fine. The setup of Fiber Optics took some time, but I never experienced any major issues with cable. Now, Optimum claims they have been undercharging me and raised my Internet and TV by $120.00 a month. Has anyone else experienced this? It appears that Optimum's sales strategy involves offering low prices to customers who switch to Fiber Optics and become their cell phone carrier, only to raise prices later despite assurances of a locked-in price. This is an unacceptable business practice that must be stopped. What actions can I take, and if other Optimum customers have been similarly misled, what can we do? Stay far, far away. Not only is their service spotty and unreliable but they are crooked. They manage to hold off cashing your check until they send out the following month's bill and add the previous "unpaid' amount to the total. This has happened at least two or three times. They held onto one check for a month. I know the post office is bad, but not that bad. They also cancelled my land line and told me they don't know how it happened, but a day later I still don't haver my phone back. They did manage to email me a bill for the "new service". I was planning on buying this internet for my move, but I didn't complete my order since I couldn't book a specific date to receive my modem. I was planning on completing the order as it got sooner. I received endless calls, texts, and emails from their sales team. I told them very explicitly "I am going to finish the order next week, please stop calling" they said ok! however, the calls never ended. I had an Optimum appointment scheduled for today. Two years ago, I opened an Optimum account at another address before realizing I could use Verizon instead. I cancelled my Optimum service for that address immediately. Again, this was two years ago. Well, where did the Optimum technician go today? You guessed it--my old address. Even though Optimum must have that address marked as "cancelled" in their system, and I explicitly asked to begin service at my _new_ address. They didn't call or text me to confirm the address. They didn't provide an account I can log into to see which address the technician would go to (no, I need to have started service for that--why?). Instead, I had to talk to Customer Support for almost an hour before they understood the problem and agreed to send someone out tomorrow. I only hope that person can figure out which address to go to. In short, I wish I could still use Verizon. read more

THE WORST INTERNET SERVICE IN EXISTENCE. Our internet went out and me and my family member spent over a combined 15 hours trying to get in contact with them for service. After hours and hours of calls, a technical support appointment was made for days later and it was no help at all because it's an outside cable issue, not a personal one. The technical support appointment was useless because it was an outside problem. On top of waiting for hours, I was then LIED TO AND IGNORED--they said it was an outage that would be fixed early the next morning (there was never an outage!) and it, of course, was not fixed. After not having internet for 5 days and having been screwed over as a remote worker, we're being told there will not be a resolution for another week. So my delema contues with Optimum. On July 23rd I had my first of 4 appointments with them to have my old Optimum coaxial 1 G service upgraded to their new fiber 1 G service and it save me money. My bill would drop from $110 to $45 and August would be free. Well on their first attempt someone showed up and said that the fiber was not broadcasting or no signal on the pole, they needed to reschedule because the problem was on Orange Turnpike. So someone came the second week and again I was told the same thing and that a few people on my block have been without fiber internet for almost 2 weeks by that point. On week three, the third try, I kept be notified that the appointment was being delayed. And when the last notification came for the new expected time, I had to go to my night job, so I had to reschedule. So that brings us to today. Someone came at 8:30, without calling, that's fine he showed up. He said his machine is reading good signal, that's good. I asked him to please connect the fiber system up and make sure it's working before disconnecting the old system. But he instead cuts all the cables, instead of unscrewing them, then connects the fiber router to find out the signal dropped. Now I have no internet, he says he's only a fiber guy and doesn't have tools to connect coaxial wires. He'll put in a ticket to have things fixed by tomorrow the soonest. Have a great day. Optimum has to have the worst customer service ever. We canceled our service in September, and I immediately returned the equipment to the Pilot Point store in Texas since they never sent a return label. I dropped off the equipment, watched the guy scan each item, and received the receipt, though it had the wrong date. (Why was a receipt given to me in September dated for July?) Now, they are trying to charge me $525 saying the equipment was never returned. They still have our address as somewhere we lived five years ago, even though we were receiving services at the new address. About a year prior to canceling, we had new equipment installed, so I'm guessing they never scanned the old equipment back in, and that's what they are trying to charge us for. So we finally had service restored after almost 5 full days! Three Optimum trucks finally showed up this morning. I spoke to the technician who was surprised that I had no service since Sunday. He said he just received a call from a dispatcher in a country he could not identify but he heard chickens in rhe background. So there's the answer. They identified an outage 5 days ago but it took them over 4 to send someone to fix it due to "communication issues." Both optimum on and optimum mobile are the most unethical company I ever dealt with. Deceiving and cheat their customers. The hide and cheat behined so-called Pomotions. Jack up monthly charges with no explnantion whatsoever. To cancel phone service, their agents have been trained to cheat bu dishonest company management. One agent will switch to another agents and the process continues for 3-5 hours in the hope that you will give up. Then one of the agents will make you an attractive and 24 or 48 hours later you receive and email with monthly charges that is totally different that what the agent has offered you earlier. Then hide behind activation charges for a phone that you rejected and never accepted. Class suit action against optimum has not deterred from the same practice of cheating and deceiving. Optimum service consultants, including in the Retention Department are routinely ignorant, deceptive or frankly dishonest. Unfortunately, Verizon is actually more expensive, if you can believe it, so we don't have much of a choice. I wrote the following letter to Dennis Mathew, Chairman of the Board at Altice about my experience with Optimum. Dear Mr. Mathew: After 30 years with Optimum we canceled cable services for TV, phone, and internet as well as mobile phones. Raising our rates $40 monthly and getting a snide remark, "Optimum didn't raise your rates, the federal government did and there are no more promotions," prompted our leaving for streaming services. This departure cost me about 20 hours on the phone with Optimum associates who suddenly found all sorts of promotions and perks to keep us as customers. However, the abysmal customer service and exorbitant fees are why we left Optimum. We tried to return the equipment on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 to your Yonkers store. The customer disservice representative refused to take it, saying, "The system is down." We had to make a second trip on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 to turn everything in. I called and spoke to another associate in retention and got a confirmation number, which I wrote on the receipt. She promised me I would get an email confirming my cancellation within two hours. It never came. At 4:37 p.m on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28, 2024, I received an email dunning me for $730 in equipment because your company did not credit me with the return. After I responded I got a message that this was a no-reply email. I tried again to email at contact@optimum.com, which was also rejected. But the employees at Optimum cable are some of the most incompetent people on this planet. This is only a 1-star review because I cannot make it a Zero or Negative Star! What went wrong?...systemic problems with customer service. I lost Cable and Internet on July 3, 2025. I called customer service (CS) on July 4th and the CS representative (CSR#1) was told is a problem with my modem. So they sent a new Gateway. I followed the self-install setup process and it still would not connect to the Internet. I called CS again on July 8th to troubleshoot the issue. CSR#2 then informed me that it was never a problem with the modem, but it was a problem with the main lines at the road. CSR#2 then scheduled a technician to come to my house on July 10 between 8am - 11am. The technician never came, never called...no notification or communication of any kind. I called CS again that afternoon (appx 12:00 noon) and CSR#3 told that there was no appointment ever scheduled. So CSR#2 lied. CSR#3 said "there is an error in our system and I cannot schedule a technician". She assured me that she would continue trying and would call me back in 20-30 minutes. After 1.5 hours, she called and said she cannot schedule any appointment...end of conversation, no help, no resolution, but assured me the escalation team (ET) would call be back within the hour to schedule the technician appointment. I never received any call from the escalation team. Again, the CS representative lied. I called CS again later that evening (appx 5:30pm) and talked to another CS representative (CSR#4) who said "there is an error in our system, and I cannot schedule a technician" and again said he would pass it on the escalation team. I now have zero confidence in your ability to provide reliable services since you cannot connect to your own in-house network! I refused to hang up and be left again at the mercy of a company that does not follow through on their call backs. I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told there was no supervisor available, and they would call me back. No! Given your track record of callbacks and lack of customer support, I refused to hang up until I spoke with someone higher in the chain of command. Eventually, when the CSR#4 realized that I was not going to let this go, he said he would pass the case on to the ET and they would call me back. What!? Is this some kind of corporate shell game to keep passing the customer around until they give up?! I demanded a phone number to contact the ET directly when they inevitably would fail to call me back. CSR#4 refused and so began another 20 minutes of 'how good and reliable our customer service is"...a complete lie based on personal experience at this point. Eventually, CSR#4 connected me directly to the ET (let's call them ETR#1). ETR#1 assured me that they could resolve the issue...the issue of simply scheduling a technician. After another 30 minutes, the ETR#1 said "there is an error in our system and I cannot schedule a technician...because there are no technicians in your area." What!? The same canned response again! This time though, we get the root of the issue...your company does not employ technicians for service calls in the service area. At this point I was furious. ETR#1 said he would pass the case on directly to the technicians and they would call be back within 24-48 hours to schedule the appointment. I have absolutely zero confidence in anything your company says! I asked for a phone number to contact the technician team (TT) when they fail to call back. I was assured by ETR#1 "how good our technicians are and can guarantee that they will call you back. In fact, I'll monitor your account and if they don't call you back within 24 hours, I'll follow up with them personally and then call you back"...again another fail and lie. It is now July 14th...still no call from the TT, still no follow up call from the ET, still no service appointment, still no cable or internet, still no resolution. So for almost two weeks now I have been without Internet. What makes this even more an issue is that I work from home and depend on reliable Internet. I have had to buy a mobile hotpsot and data plan from my mobile carrier just to limp by. The next call to CS will be to tell them no technician is needed and I am canceling your service entirely. As a side note, CSR#2 credited my count $50 for the inconvenience, which was only a few days into this ordeal. Since I have been without service since July 3rd, I expect my bill to be prorated for the actual days that service was provided. Will this happen? Worst internet provider I've ever had. Multiple outages every month and when calling to ask customer service they just tell me they cant help. I do work on my computer and I need reliable internet but with optimum that's not the case. I've had almost 3 outages in one day and that's after they said they fixed the problem. They won't even compensate their customers for these problems.
