It was a great day when the time finally came to call and cancel our services from Suddenlink. We are selling our house and this was the first utility to get booted!!! I originally went with Suddenlink because of price, but as anything else in life.....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. What I thought was a locked in rate, ended up being a rising cost every so often for no reason and for the same inconsistent Internet service. I can't even begin to explain how useless Suddenlink's customer service is. Their automated system is more competent than their people. When Suddenlink sent a "contractor" to install my internet, he used some kind of outdated coaxial cable from 1986 so my service was garbage right off the bat. When I called and a tech came and diagnosed the problem as a bad coaxial cable, Suddenlink claimed I was responsible for paying to have a New cable installed. Needless to say I went to Home Depot, bought my own cable and installed that sucker myself. My service often cut out completely and 90% of the time I was not receiving the Internet Speed I was paying for. I would not shed a single tear if this company went belly up and disappeared. The technician came out and said we didn't have any lines run and could not set up service. He pointed in the air to show there were none on the poles. We explained the previous owner had sundden link so we know there are lines run. He didn't listen. We looked around the house and found them in the front the yard lines that ran to the house and they ran up to the under pinning of our new home. He had taken off already. We called and talked customer service. They made another appointed for that same day from 11-2. No one showed up. We called many times. They gave us answers like, "he's on the way", "your next for a visit". Finally 2 hours after the scheduled time, they said the "tech made notes our lines were defective." How would he know if he never looked for or saw the lines!?! LIES!!! We were promised a manager call the next day, even though it was a Sunday. We asked are you sure and they promised we would get a call. We didn't get one. We finally got a call 2 days later they sent some one out. Different guy and he was nice and professional. We were told there would not be an immediate charge for the service and now this morning I am negative in my bank account with ano uncertain fee because they took money that I was told would not come out. I have called and gone to the office multiple times and they have had multiple excuses to why it has not been buried yet. Now the cord is shredded and the internet is completely out. Supposedly they can't get anyone out until Thursday to replace the cord that is just running across the street. I am fed up with the service both customer and internet service. They encountered a problem with my 'auto-payment' and rather than contact me they let it go until they could charge me a $10 late fee. They also changed my account number for some unknown reason. When I called to check this out they said it was either my banks' fault or mine! My bank had nothing to do with this since other accounts I have billing through them had no problems. I've also watched cable TV in hotels from coast to coast. SuddenLink is the WORST(!) cable TV service I've ever had. The line-up just plain stinks. We have the package above basic and are unhappy about the line-up. We decided to upgrade and looked at that line-up - no better. We'd like CSPAN2, H2, Science, Fox Business, and the Sportsmans Channel. Not on Suddenlink. You tell me, what kind of moron management can't figure out that The Sportsmans Channel is a MUST HAVE in rural Arkansas? - Idiots! My TVs are HD and cable ready. Not on Suddenlink. You have to have a Suddenlink box to see anything. That means an additional remote which renders my TVs' remotes virtually useless - except for on/off. They charge extra for HD. Their whole television service just plain sucks. However, I dislike satellite even more. The internet service is good. I don't have their phone service. Where to begin? I suppose 8 WEEKS ago when our internet quit working would be a good start even though we have always had horrible service with Suddenlink. Week 1 - Internet stops working (again) so I called "customer service" in some foreign call center where all the male employees I get are all named "Mohamed." Can't understand half off what he is saying but we finally set up an appointment for a technician to come look at it. This is after the standard "unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug in, oh it's still not working routine." Week 2 - Technician finally comes out to look at it. He does the same "unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug in, oh it's still not working routine" and gets nothing. Goes out to check the box out back - nothing. Checks line and says it's a bad cable and that it's out of his hands. Maintenance crew problem he says and then leaves so I call the "customer service again." [repeat scenario] Week 3 - Another technician comes out. He says the same thing. I ask him who sets up the maintenance call because "customer service" Only sends me technicians. He says he will call it in. He doesn't. Week 4 - Cable still out. I call the "customer service" again. This time they tell me it's a modem issue on the phone. Apparently when I "upgraded" to the highest speed they were supposed to bring out another modem. They didn't. Technician is scheduled to bring the modem to fix the issue. Week 5 - Cable still out, technician arrives, installs new modem, says it doesn't seem to be a modem issue, unplugs modem, goes out to truck and then leaves. No explanation. I call "customer service" again. Week 6 - Cable still out. Technician arrives and does all the aforementioned steps and says it's a cable problem on the pole again. I tell him to call the maintenance people because "customer service" doesn't know how to. He texts and then shows me the text. Maybe maintenance will show this time. They don't. Week 7 - I'm beyond ready to start loading the gun but the Holy Spirit says no. Oh, did I mention the cable is still out? Call "customer service" again, tell them to send maintenance and not a technician because technicians are useless - he doesn't. "We have to have a technician out first" he says. At this point I have seen every technician in the local office at least once and they haven't been able to do anything remotely cable/internet service related. "Mohamed" scheduled another technician. I ask about the monthly bill I just received. What about a credit because it's been 7 WEEKS of no service. Keep paying it and we will credit when it is fixed. Week 8 - Technician arrives and seems scared to knock on my door. I tell him I'm tired of the whole "unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug in, oh it's still not working" weekly routine that we have going, so I tell him to call the maintenance guy, not text. He calls and I'm told I'm a "critical priority" now. Maintenance guy comes out (I'm hopeful), works on line (I'm getting excited), fixes the other 4 people who don't have cable/internet on my street and leaves after 3 days of work. Did I mention that MY cable is still out (excitement gone)? Call "customer service" again. Technician will be out next Wednesday (Week 9). . . . . . read more

This company is horrible to deal with! Like one of the previous reviewers, I wish I could leave a negative stars review of Suddenlink. We ended up having to quit them mid-December of 2019 because of their poor customer service, and the poor attitude of the people (if you can call them that) that man their customer service line. We had cable TV, and internet through Suddenlink, and switched services to two other companies to replace what we had been getting from them. And Suddenlink has continued billing us, and adding late charges. I called them today to ask why they are still billing us, and they said they haven't removed, like, the physical cabling or something. Hell! They've had two months to remove it! I suppose I could remove it, if that's all it needs for them to quit billing us, but they might not like the result. I might accidentally disconnect some of the suckers who are still using their services. (Can they keep billing us perpetually into the future because they aren't removing their cabling? If so, that is very, very unfair.) The customer service people are despicable people who do nothing but stonewall, and try to continue billing you, and intimidating you into paying it. As soon as I get back to my mom's house in Arkansas, she wants me to dump Suddenlink and hook up the TV antennas I got for her last time I was at her house. Suddenlink continues to be RUDE to my mom on the phone, keeps increasing her EXPENSIVE TV bill (almost $100 for basic cable a month??? REALLY???), and won't give her any breaks on her bill, even though she's had their service ever since they came to the area. Old, inadequate coaxial cable wiring, and they won't replace it (it's the original 30-year-old wiring that was installed when she first got cable TV in the 80s). They charged her $60+ for coming into the house, only to tell her the cables behind her TV were too tightly rolled, unrolled them, and then she got $60+ extra on her bill for a house-call. And the cable TV still breaks up all the time, so that was $60+ WASTED. I absolutely HATE Suddenlink. I can't wait to get to her house to DUMP HER CABLE TV. Besides, with 60 or so channels, there is NEVER ANYTHING ON. She usually watches the LOCAL channels only, which come in perfectly with the antennas I tested out for her last time I visited (and they're in REAL HDTV, not the condensed and then uncondensed signal that Suddenlink provides with their "HDTV" service). Do yourself a favor and weigh out in your mind how much this crappy cable service is worth and consider DUMPING Suddenlink. If you have other services with them (which my mom does not), see if there are ANY other options available that would certainly be better and/or less expensive. This is probably the worst internet company I've ever dealt with. The internet speeds are fast so that's a plus, but the reliability and the pricing are just awful. In my own opinion there shouldn't be a data plan for household internet, it is very easy to go over your limit and be charged with hefty fines which force you to be on their unlimited plan which is way more expensive. Then there is the reliability. The internet goes down several times a month every month. It's rediculous, and it doesn't help when the customer support is absolutely rude and don't help you at all. I give sudden link two stars because quite simply put; they suck! I have never in my life has so many problems from one provider. Last month it was the Internet, it kept going out and you had to unplug the box to reset it. This month it's the cable. My service comes with TiVo. I record a lot of TV series. For the past two to three weeks every night atleast one of my shows don't record. They show up on the recording list with no conflicts but when I go later to watch them they aren't in my shows. These are shows often times that aren't on Hulu, or Netflix or on demand. Shows that I now won't be able to see til sometime in the future when they become reruns. Thanks a lot sudden link. Third thing, on demand, if I wanna watch something on demand I have to unplug the cable box and leave it off for 30 seconds. Then it takes 15-20 minutes to power back up and restart.
