This is a review of one of the therapists, not the location, which I haven't used. Emma Termina was a sub today at a different locale in Brooklyn, which I use, and was excellent. I also saw her work with two others during my hour (typically 2-3 clients per therapist at my locale) and noted that her attentive listening skills, careful monitoring of correct positioning (even from across the room) and thoughtful selection of moves based on supplied info was the same high quality for each client. She's also got a warm, humorous but also professional demeanor that put me at ease and made me feel secure about my care and even made it pleasant experience. I do not passionately crave all types of exercise, so that was a good motivator. Again, she was subbing for just one day, but I understand that she's new to the Prospect practice, so thought it might be helpful to provide this single-visit snapshot. read more

Highly recommend this PT office for a few reasons: 1) Conveniently located 2) Really good trained, caring, patient professionals (shout out to Cynthia, my OT) 3) Good vibes/attitudes 4) Actually helps my healing so so much whenever I visit 5) Most of all, they are VERY timely. Horrible service and petty. First, I've struggled to make an appointment with this place for a few weeks - nobody would return my voice messages. Then, when I finally secured an appointment and had my session I was quite disappointed in the therapist. It seemed like she was very disinterested in helping me and more concerned with talking about payments and insurance. She rushed though my session (I was the last appointment of the day) and sent me off. She verbally suggested next appointment dates and I agreed. They never sent any appointment reminders or request for appointment confirmation (like any doctor's office or salon.) When the day came for the appointment they scheduled and I didn't show up they just called me to tell me I'm going to be charged $75 dollars. Anyhow, I'm not going back to this place since it isn't concerned with the health of patients but with mcharging fees. read more

Incredibly disorganized experience trying to book a PT session. The recording for the receptionist states that someone will call back within the hour and despite following this directive no one ever returned my call in that time frame. A few times I tried calling several times in a row I was never able to reach anyone. Finally I booked an appointment, filled out all the paperwork, and provided payment info. Then days later I received a message stating that there was something wrong with my insurance but was offered no information about the issue. Again I tried calling several times and left a message asking to have the information left on my voicemail. Then I received a call several days later asking to move my appointment time but the woman I spoke with had no clarifying information about my insurance. More days passed and 2 days before my appointment I was called and informed that the PT that I scheduled with was out-of-network. If this had been communicated to me at the time of scheduling I could have saved time and would have been able to start to heal my injury sooner. I will be looking for another location. read more

The experience at Park Sports physical therapy was exceptional! The front desk was extremely helpful. I called and she answered all my questions and streamlined the appointment process. She also explained the extensive covid procedures that are used in the office to protect the employees as well as customers. I met with Daniel Bogart. He helped me get back into PT. I am recovering from an ACL surgery. Both locations of Parks sports are very clean and orderly. They also follow proper social distancing guidelines. One of my favorite features of 490 Driggs is the one on one sessions. Daniel has given me exercises to continue at home and also threw in a free elastic band for at-home exercises. I'm giving a poor review because it seems to be a trend where a PT would book several appointments at the same time. They will then assign you some exercise and go give some attention to one of the other patients, not actually focusing that you are doing the exercise correctly (which, I think, in PT is very bad because you can damage yourself even worse). You will then likely have to wait until between finishing the exercise and the next time they will have to get to you, wasting precious time of your appointment. Note that my first appointment was actually 1:1 (I guess they want to make a better impression on new customers), this trend only started afterward. I also have some issues with their privacy policy which stipulates that they can sell your data and the amount of irrelevant data that they try to collect on the signup forms in general (I skipped most of that and I'll advise anyone to do the same). My physical therapist, Lacey analyzed my doctors' diagnosis. Then she and created a regimen for treatment with several different movements and exercises. She helped me follow them each time I came to the office. Then, knowing that I was going away for 3 months, created an at home program for me. After completing about 5 sessions in the office and a few days at home, I began to notice improvement. Now, after about 1 1/2 months of exercise, my pain is 99% gone. Kristin Romeo is a natural. She combines a well-educated background with an organic sense for improvisation, which results in a tailor-made program to precisely fit each patient's particular needs. Her approach to physical therapy is methodical, and effective. I, personally, was on the road to permanent paralysis from the neck down, due to severe compression in my cervical spine. Prior to surgery, the compression was so bad, I could hardly walk, and I was constantly dropping things, no matter how light. My doctors told me that I would be in a wheelchair within 3 to 5 years if I don't have surgery done soon. And they said the intent of the procedure is to prevent further damage of the spinal cord, and that there is no guarantee I will regain any of the feeling/motor skills that I had lost, of which I lost much. At the time, I was 38 years old--very young to experience such severe symptoms, I've since learned. I was pretty depressed about the situation, to say the least. I am a sound engineer professionally, and music has been my whole life since I was three years old. Performing, composing, basically doing lots of things with my hands, feet, fingers... And in my career, I spend lots of time turning knobs at mixing consoles, reaching behind equipment racks to plug or unplug cables... So following surgery, I was determined to get the best PT I could find and try to get at least a little bit of my life back. Well, that's exactly what happened, thanks to the program Kristin developed for me. She is so in tune to the subtleties of the recovery process. I can recall the exact moments when I regained feeling in each of my fingers, one at a time, over the course of several months, each time doing a stretch that Kristin taught me. She is professional, patient, and always on top of the current information in her field. And I am thrilled to say, thanks to her coaching over the past several months, I have regained 99% of my feeling, motor skills, and I honestly feel like I'm heading for 120%. WOW. Don't know what they're problem is, but I was a "regular," load my bills, came to all my appointments, then I canceled one at the facility, they called me to say I missed it, I called owner back immediately, and then they went and canceled all my future appointments, basically turning me away as a client. Don't know what kind of BS is being laid down by the owners, but beware. read more

I had a great experience with Park Sports PT while rehabilitating from a wrist fracture of my dominant hand. I don't believe I ever waited more than a minute or two to start a session. The exercises prescribed and the modalities used in each session were effective and creative when modifications were needed. Allison, my OT, had a great personality and was very caring to all her patients. She seemed to remember even the most insignificant details I had shared and would ask me follow up questions. Impressive! I can only speak for myself, but I truly think all of the patients I shared time and space with in the cozy communal upper extremity corner of their gym like office in the South Slope were equally impressed with the expert care doled out to everyone who walked in the door, no matter what their injury or limitations. Allison Sanchez-Masi, I will forever be grateful for how you helped me get to the other side of a challenging situation. Finding a decent PT facility is no easy task. Many considerations to factor in: proximity, professionalism, medical training, staff friendliness, overall vibe, equipment, dealing with insurance, etc. It's I think I made a good choice with Park Sports. I needed a facility that had expertise in both occupational therapy as well as physical therapy due to a serious injury this fall. Personally, I find the therapists at Park Sports serious yet very relatable. The physical work is challenging and sometimes exhausting and leads to soreness the following day but I always feel like I call the shots and never feel like I'm being pushed beyond my limits. I feel I've made progress there. I also notice other loyal customers keep coming back. I've been to both locations, the Sixth Avenue office and the Garfield Place office. Both have distinctly different vibes. Both are relaxed yet professional. I also give the staff a lot of credit for dealing with my difficult insurance company and going the extra mile to do the paperwork and phone calls for appeals. Both Mark as well as the OT girls (Alison and Sarah) are really cool and fun to talk to as well as the office manager, Idanya (who can update you on this week's Game of Thrones or Girls, if you happen to miss a week). I've been going to Park Sports for a few months now and wouldn't consider going elsewhere. I give it 5 stars for my needs but this is a choice you have to make yourself (like choosing a doctor). After getting into a car accident and breaking a bone in my wrist, Allison helped me gain back almost my entire range of motion and strength. I cannot recommend this place enough. I went to the 6th Ave location and saw Allison who is kind and very experienced in her field. Great to talk to her about TV shows (especially Breaking Bad!) and her family The key to getting better is not just coming to PT when your doctor says so but also doing your homework! I injured my left shoulder and could not get full range of motion. My shoulder also got weaker and I started compensating with the right one. I had weakness in the limb when was swimming or doing Yoga. As a licensed acupuncturist I was a bit biased about exercising to increase ROM in my shoulder. Boris worked with me and showed me exercise routines to strengthen my weakened muscles and over a short period of time I noticed much greater range of motion and more strength. Now I can do a prayer Yoga posture (when you put both of your hands in a prayer position behind your back). In fact because of their incompetents I lost 2 important months of therapy because Leslie did not email my progress report to my hand doctor in a timely matter so I had to until my doctor got the progress report from Leslie which took almost 5 weeks after my splint finally came off. Than when I called they gave me half Scheduled appt. And the other half on a wait list ( dont wanna lose out on that penny forget about the health of a patient ) . Allison Sanchez-Masi is a wonderful hand therapist at PSPT, working mostly out of the 6th Av site. After rupturing a ligament in my thumb, which had me terrified b/c I'm a writer (a/k/a full-time keyboard operator), Allison helped me get back to normal lickety-split. And like all great PTs, her energy is a huge component of the healing process. Her warmth, care, and patient encouragement really helped me re-orient how i was dealing with the process of recovery. it's not about an injury: it's about healing. BTW, I feel like this review should be split into 2 distinct pages, one for the Garfield office, and the other for PSPT's 6th ave outpost. At the former (Garfield) I ran into some of the disorganization reported in other reviews here. By comparison The 6th Ave office is bigger, more mellow, and generally seemed to work smoothly. read more

He is the most incredible medical professional I've met. He is knowledgeable, passionate and so professional with the best bedside manners. I've been to several different physical therapists and this was by far the best and most effective treatment that I've received. Lacey was great! A true professional who explained how and why the exercises worked and made sure that I was doing everything correctly and in the right form. She worked with me to make sure I was completely healed before ending the program and used a combination of exercises, soft-tissue massage, and stretching that completely solved my shoulder issues. read more

Occupational therapist Moussia is AMAZING. She helped me recover from the latest bout of a chronic injury (forearm tendinitis) that I've had for 13 years. She knew techniques and had tools that no other physical therapist has ever mentioned to me. Now I feel strong, I'm not in pain, and I'm ready to move on to working with a personal trainer to get even stronger. Tonight I cooked a dish that involved a lot of stirring and I don't hurt! I can't begin to explain what a wonder and a joy this is. All the admin staff are lovely too, even when dealing with my extremely annoying health insurance. And they were always very nice when I ran late for my appointments (sorry about that). The next time I do something foolish that aggravates my arms, or if I have any other injury that needs physical or occupational therapy, I will definitely head right back to Park Sports. read more

Their physical therapy is a little disorganized, a little unattentive and so so... some ptherapists better than others, but in general they lack complete attention of the patient. Three of my friends receive treatment at Park Sports Physical Therapy and I have personally witnessed the vast improvement in the quality of their lives. I felt compelled to check it out for myself. At times, I have had severe to acute muscle spasms in my lower back (post lamenectomy, at al) due to a car accident many years ago. Thus, the quality of my life is invariably contingent upon 2) having highly skilled and experienced PTs that are tuned into the nuances of my conditions, 3) that we work as a team. 1) my being proactive in an individualized treatment plan that works for me. I have found all three at Park Sports Physical Therapy. After each treatment, I received a printed illustrated home exercise program that I followed in between sessions and presently. Each exercise focuses on building up my core abdominal strength which has immensely improved my personal, social and professional life for which I am so very grateful more than my words can possibly say. My family and friends are delighted that I am no longer suffering and my disposition and confidence has gotten a whole lot better.. as has my ability to fulfill my goals and dreams day by day Because of my schedule, I worked with two physical therapists at the Garfield Place practice: Beatrice Giurlani and Victor Hermosillo. I highly commend these practitioners who each hold a doctorate in physical therapy as well as specializations. In addition to their expertise, Beatrice and Victor gave me the incentive and encouragement I needed time and time again to keep on keeping on. The key for me is following the home exercise program. I came here a few months ago to recover from a recent ankle surgery. Unfortunately I've had similar surgery in the past, so I've dealt with another physical therapist and had a baseline to work off of. I was scheduled to be evaluated by Edward and I was glad I did. I've been very happy coming to ParkSports for rehab! They seem to have 3 offices total, but I have been going to the one on 6th Avenue. The environment is laid back with no one trying to rush you and is generally not overcrowded. The office has been super easy to deal with regarding flexible appointment scheduling and working with my insurance. Edward is very knowledgeable and fun to work with. He takes the time to answer my questions when I ask what each particular exercise is for, and is always switching things up to keep me progressing. He knows exactly what he is doing when he manually works on my foot. Another thing that I love about this place is that there are no assistants or aides that you work with. The entire time you're working with the actual physical therapist. This gives me peace of mind that I'm getting the very best that I need to get back to 100%. All in all, fantastic physical therapy location. Now i'm back up and running pain free. I'd definitely recommend to anyone needing physical rehab. read more

I have been with the "best" and I am quite familiar with recognizing when a therapist or health practitioner is excellent. However, Melissa is exceptional -she's a Master. Melissa goes above and beyond and makes it look so simple. She exemplifies the qualities of a true healer, coach, therapist, etc... For example: I came to my session the other day to say that I was too weak to have the session and I felt awful. But in my heart, I really wanted to somehow go through the therapy session because that would've been the only way to have me feeling better and functioning. This review is long overdue. The team at Park Sports Physical Therapy give you the best care. My wife has had numerous issues related to her battle with cancer and most recently was dealing with nerve damage due to the growth of tumors. She began to lose strength in her right hand. I have some nerve damage in my hand and since I live nearby I stopped in to find out if they accept my insurance. The person at the desk was very disorganized and left the desk to "find someone to help". A woman who I think was a therapist walked by and I asked if I could use the bathroom and she snapped that I could not, it was only for patients. I asked her name and she ignored me and kept walking. I left, I don't need an attitude from staff, and the place also looked like it needed a good cleaning. read more

Svetlana at Park Sports PT is a complete pro, and has helped me rehabilitate from two separate injuries. It's like school - you go, you learn, and you take exercises home as homework in preparation for the next visit. Do the work, you will see the results, and she'll challenge you further. After 2 months of not been able to finish my usual 3-5 mile run due to the knee pain I went to see a therapist at Park Sports PT. I had some unfortunate experience at another Brooklyn office where a therapist seemed to go by some Physical Therapy 101 cookbook. I was amazed by my intelligent, knowledgeable and caring therapists ( I saw 2).They listened, changed the course of treatment to suit my progress (or lack thereof) , and essentially, made it possible for me to get back to running in record time. General atmosphere is friendly, easy going and professional. I got the same impression from observing other clients's sessions.
