I would say 3/4 stars for therapy and 1 or even negative stars for dealing with insurance, billing ... I would never go to an Ivy Rehab facility again. I had a series of compounding injuries last year and in different referrals went to Spear, Park Sports, and had in home therapy and there are definitely pros and cons to all of them. At it's best, I definitely got more attention and personalization from the physical therapist at Park Sports than at Spear. But at it's worst, the therapist seemed uninterested in being there, arguments over pulling down the parallel bars needed to safely do the exercises I needed, and sometimes attitude about asking for a rest. I'm really grateful for the good sessions, especially in the beginning. But even if it was sporadic, having those negative sessions and not knowing what energy I would be met with was difficult. I was also asked to redo my progress survey so it would look like I had improved more than I had to corporate. Like Spear (and all PT I've had in NYC) the therapist meets with you for about 15 minutes and then supervises while also treating several other patients. I've now moved and benefit from greater one on one support. In terms of insurance and billing, it felt like no one was communicating or keeping track. The front desk would tell me to ask the therapist who would tell me to ask the front desk. I was pressured to front load my sessions (they even wanted me to come in several days in a row, which I pushed back on). I didn't even know I'd gone over my allotted sessions and was told I would definitely be able to get more through insurance ... Then got a surprise bill for over $700 right before Christmas. I did not get calls back from the front desk, and Ivy rehab has been incredibly difficult and at one point rude to deal with. They say my insurance just hasn't given an answer to the forms they submitted. My insurance says the forms where never submitted and they don't even have records of my last month of sessions being submitted for insurance at all. It's a mess. I was told they would put a pause on the bill while insurance decided, but they sent it to collections without warning me. I don't really know who to believe. By contrast, Spear and insurance/billing was 100% clear and everyone was always on the same page (my therapist there helped me space out the sessions to cover the whole length of anticipated recovery time) and insurance showed everything being submitted on time. As I said, I have mixed feelings of gratitude and frustration. I would say if you want to work with Park Sports be ready to be on top of the insurance and don't let them front load your sessions if you have a complex injury with an unknown projectory. read more

This place has clearly merged with a larger conglomerate and, while I feel the individuals here by and large give a strong effort and do care, the experience here ultimately feels too much like an unfeeling bureaucratic nuisance--not the sensation you want when you are struggling, in pain and in need of help. The therapists I saw here were kind and helpful where they could be. Over the span of three months, largely going twice per week, I don't think I ever had an appointment here my therapist had fewer than 3 patients at the same time slot. I am largely a self starter and follow directions well, but the lack of immediate feedback or direct instruction could at times be quite frustrating. Want a recommendation for a specific therapist? I can't give you one, all three therapists that I worked with left here in the short time i had been coming here. Their website is super old, clunky, and frustrating as well--lots of downtime and system maintenance, I had multiple issues logging in even after resetting and verifying my password. With the minimal direct feedback you receive during sessions, a lot of relevant information related to your treatment is here, and did not feel as accessible as it should be. When I needed information or to make or change an appointment, it would often take a couple of calls or emails for a response. As I said, people were kind, and seemed to want the best for you--and I did make physical improvements during my time here. But ultimately, if I do need more PT in the future I think the strong likelhood is that I would seek out another option or facility. read more

Park Sports Physical Therapy - Clinton Hill​ - is a small, well-staffed facility. The physical therapists have only 2 clients at a time. They also create a personalized app so you can exercise at home. I did PT the summer of 2021 (with Genya Royfman), and again spring 2024 (with Anika Pradip Joshi). While the staff here are friendly and kind, the service provided was terrible. I tried two different therapists, and each one was the same. Most importantly, the therapists did not watch me do my exercises. They gave me an exercise and then sat across the room talking or doing chart notes. After I did an exercise, they wouldn't ask me if it was hard or easy, as my new therapist does, or where I felt the stretch to make sure I was doing it right. We just moved on to the next exercise. Most sessions I did the same exercises over and over, to the point where I knew them by heart and didn't really need the PT to tell me what to do. They just left me alone for most of the session. The PTs hardly ever tried to make them more difficult, change things up, or observe me. At two points, I found out I had been doing exercises incorrectly after doing them for months. I spent a year and a half with these PTs. My new PT got me better in four months. Do not go here. read more

I was left with a bad impression of this place. When I first called and gave my insurance, they let me know there was one therapist authorized to work with my particular coverage. The physical therapist I was assigned to (Genya) never worked with me and outsourced everything to a trainee while she sat in the back doing paperwork. Honestly, it felt like a scam - both to the client, and potentially to insurers as well. I didn't feel that the trainee had much experience or knew more than I could figure out by googling online myself (and the trainee consistently referred to his phone/Genya). There also wasn't one on one service / this trainee was spread quite thin between other people. They were very eager to book me in appointments, often on consecutive days. Then, a month or so after I discontinued service I got a bill from them for the price of several sessions. Before ever starting with them I called and asked if they took my insurance and what the costs would be. They said they took my insurance and quoted the copay, which I paid at the start of every session. Evidently, they were wrong and are now asking that I pay for some sessions in full. I suspect it's because of the back to back sessions they had me book some weeks, and I will have to call my insurer to confirm. Just disorganized and unprofessional. The front desk staff is rude. Genya and the trainee were very pleasant. read more

If you're looking for one of those physical therapy offices that just spend half an hour massaging you and then going through some exercises with you once and never again, you should steer clear. If instead you're looking for actual results among a team of physical therapist with amazing understanding of the body and how it works, then I cannot recommend this place enough. I had a very complicated spine issue which required multiple surgeries, and there's no way I'd be making such great progress without Genya and Patrick's help. read more

Horrible, mean spirited, immature, people that have no respect for you or your personal space. About 4 different employees bumped into me like I was invisible and said nothing on my very first visit!! (including the manager!) The one amazing therapist that made it convenient and worthwhile left about 8-10 visits in. Against my better judgement I tried to stay with them. I continued to make it very clear I would be late to my appointments ahead of time from the beginning Do to work. Yet it only became a problem when I reported Ashley for publicly shaming me 2xs (as if I was a child). Not sure why professionals would be spiteful and publicly shame people instead of professionally and politely declining The final straw for me was...After I reported Ashley and changed therapists. I came in reporting feeling very sore, and experiencing pinched nerves in my neck. to be spiteful I had a whole full hour of work out and was told AT THE END I couldn't get a massage because I was my normal 10 mins late!!!!!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!!!! VERY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR! But they always had time to talk about their ancestry reports, how black they were, sports, and other personal topics. read more

I have been working with Patrick at the Fulton Street branch and have been extremely pleased. I am a person with Parkinson's Disease who has kept symptoms minimized through daily intensive running sessions, covering about 60-80 miles on a treadmill weekly. I had to have surgery for a torn meniscus --usually no big deal-- but a big deal for me, since my symptoms returned with a vengeance about a week after no high-intensity exercise. Patrick is knowledgeable about injury/surgery recovery but is also quite knowledgeable about neuro rehab. Even on those occasions when Patrick is multi-tasking across multiple clients at once, I don't feel ignored. I have had past experiences with PTs in which I felt that, as a fit person who needed short-term PT, I knew enough or more than the PT about the exercises I needed to do for rehab. Not here. I feel like Patrick is super-knowledgeable about my relatively complex needs. The environment is bright and pleasant and all seem super-attentive to Covid-19 public safety policies. They even have an AlterG treadmill, something really special for rehabilitation of injured runners. This branch is also approved/recommended by the Hospital for Special Surgery, as part of their extended network of carefully vetted community PT sites. Great experience so far. I saw Katie for Achilles tendinopathy and repeated ankle sprains. She was excellent: very knowledgeable, competent, encouraging and supportive. She corrected my form during exercises and explained why certain exercises were so important. My symptoms have improved and I'm back to running again! After my hip resurfacing operation in Aug., I had some very mild PT at home, but after two weeks I needed to step it up. My insurance set me up with Park Sport PT in Clinton Hill, Bklyn. Jay Forde was assigned to my case and, lucky for me, he knew exactly where I needed more flexibility and strengthening. Working with Jay twice a week showed almost immediate results. Instead of "dreading" going to PT, I actually would look forward to it and started exercising on my own at home. Needless to say, it's like I never even had the operation! I'm pain free and feel 10 years younger. I highly recommend Jay Forde and the rest if the friendly staff at Park Sport on Fulton St. Will be back there when I have the other hip operated on next year, for sure! read more

I saw Katie for an old running injury in my knee that flared up again during pregnancy. She was extremely understanding, empathetic, knowledgeable and supportive in all of our sessions. She watched closely to ensure my form was correct and was comfortable giving feedback when I needed to do something differently. This resulted in a ton of progress rather quickly -- I felt almost complete relief from my pain in a matter of weeks. Scheduling was easy and my visits to Park Sports PT were always pleasant. This is a review from my wife (who is not a Yelp user): I can't say enough good things about Dean at Park Sports PT. I had hip surgery in April and had to find a provider near my home in Brooklyn as I needed to start PT the day after my surgery while I was on crutches. Dean is thoughtful and caring, and helped me progress more quickly than planned through my recovery - my doctor was impressed! Dean has helped me manage setbacks, and has advised me as I got back into the challenges of day to day NYC life (subway stairs are basically Mt. Everest when you are on crutches). I have had many injuries over the years and have worked with many PT practitioners. Many of them were harsh or neglectful, assigning an exercise and moving on to the next patient without much regard for whether or not you were doing it right and improving. A lot of the time it felt like a waste of time and money. I was concerned that I would have a similar approach with my post-surgery PT, but I have been in excellent hands with Dean. I would definitely recommend this office and Dean specifically for anyone who needs physical therapy treatment. An added bonus is their hours, starting early some days and staying open late on other days. read more

In a car accident almost five years ago, I tore up my ankles, wrists, and various other body parts. I had multiple surgeries on my left ankle and my right wrist. After my first round of surgeries, I visited three different physical facilities with marginal results. One of the places help a little, and I thought I was moving the needle. After over 18 months of physical therapy, I had another round of surgeries. Given all of the headaches, I went through, this time, I was going to find a place post surgery that would best address my rehab needs. I found the place. Park Sports Physical Therapy. While I was still recovering from the ankle surgery, I saw Leslie, the hand specialist for my wrist. Leslie, by far, is the best wrist therapist I have had. Not only did she have a lot of tools and exercises, but she has excellent massage hands. She was able to pinpoint the muscles in my arm that help me with the pain in the wrist and explains everything to you throughout the session. I can now sleep without sharp pains that would wake me up in the middle of the night because I moved my wrist the wrong way. I went from daily pain to minor flare-ups, which Leslie showed me how to address. I am forever grateful! But my experience doesn't end here. While seeing Leslie for the wrist, I began seeing Joe for my ankle. When I first started to see Joe, I had bee on a knee scooter and wearing a boot for a little over three months. Within two weeks of working with Joe, I wasn't using the scooter or wearing the boot. (First time around it was six months) Joe knows his stuff and some. His prior experience is perfect for highly active people. He treats his craft as a career, not like a job. So I didn't get basic physical therapy. Unlike my previous therapist, Joe uses cupping on my leg to help the recovery from the ankle surgery. Additional, he created the physical exercise plan catered to me. Yes, there were a lot of regular exercises, but he tweaked them to make them more challenging. Additional, he had me doing some other exercises that I could never do without pain before coming here. When he noticed I was able to do the exercises too easy, he challenged me even more. It's like I worked harder because I was looking forward to the next challenge. Additional, he had me running on the Zero-G Treadmill. YOU WILL NOT FIND THIS TYPE OF TREADMILL AT MANY OTHER FACILITIES. This specialized treadmill will assist you with running by holding you up, so you only use a percentage of your body weight until you can run using your body weight. It works. What took other rehab places over 18 months to do, Joe got me doing much better in less than four months. I can now use public transportation again without the ankle issue. Joe has helped make my life and getting around New York City A lot easier. Oh did I say he does cupping !!! The overall staff at this facility is excellent. Physical therapist Andrea pointed out a problem that four other specialists had missed and when I went to see my doctor recently he was even wondering how he missed that problem. Even the interns were more knowledgeable than the other physical therapists that I dealt with at other facilities. Yes, there was one place that I went to prior that was somewhat good, but Park Sports Physical Therapy is by far THE BEST!!! Thank you, guys, for everything!!! read more

This place is great. Perfect balance of casual and professional. I worked with Beatrice on my post-surgery wrist recovery. She ramped me up over the course of 6 sessions from simple stretches and exercises up to more difficult (but necessary) stretches and exercises. All while giving me tips and techniques to work on my own while at home. Plus, the added benefit of having her work on my wrist were the wrist massages. They helped reduce scarring, so not a bad part of the session! After a 1/2 dozen sessions (and an OK from my doc) I'm good to go. read more

They are not very competent at job .Its always about the dollar if you cancel or miss an appointment. Plus because they took their time submitted my progress report I had to wait almost 2 months to get approval from Workers Comp to continue my therapy . So maybe you if you are interested in using them for therapy. You might want look into other clinics also . read more

I worked with Genya for five months after a terrible wrist fracture that left me unable to hold things, make a fist, or pretty much have a functional hand in any way. I now have full function, but even better, Genya and the Park Sports team are kind, dedicated, and fun - they eased what is by nature a challenging process. Been seeing Dean for a few weeks and it's been going well. The exercises help with lower back pain much more than the steroid injections the surgeon tried and the heat therapy at the end of the sessions are a welcome relief. Excellent bedside manner and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend for professionalism and easy to access location. There are bus stops and a subway stop very close by. The inside is very clean, there are lockers for storing your stuff while you are undergoing PT, clean bathrooms, and the equipment is top notch and well cared for. There is also an acupuncturist who works out of here if you're into that sort of thing. They also accept my insurance, which was also a relief! read more

Updated review: I liked this place when I came here for OT (see original review below). I liked them so much so that I came back for a little knee PT... Unfortunately their billing people are not nearly as good as their therapists: months after I was in for PT I got an unofficial-looking bill (like a printed out word doc with very little info) that said I had to send them some check from my insurance company(?). I called the billing company to discuss, then my insurance company, who said they made the payment directly to them (they never send me checks for anything). I called back the billing company, told them what the insurance said, the billing woman said that she would clear it up and call me back, she didn't... 2 weeks later I called her back, she wasn't in, I left a message got no response, 1 week later I called her back, she wasn't in, I left a message got no response again. I figured if she wasn't answering/returning my calls the issue must actually be resolved. I just now got a bill from a collections agency for $60, after not returning my calls she sold it into collections... I called collections they answered, said the woman in charge of my account was out, they couldn't take a payment, but they will call me back Monday. What a pain. Park Sports - good OT, bad billing. Original review: 5.0 star rating 5/6/2016 I'm really enjoying my hand therapy (OT) at Park Sports Physical Therapy. I'm working with Boris officially, but the I've chatted with the other people who work there and like them all. I've been for 4 visits at this point, and will keep returning. Everyone seems super knowledgeable and really into what they do. I get to do a mix of exercises, ever week we add something new, so it's not getting dull. Boris seems really interested in helping me not just with my hand, but with my arm and shoulder and core strength too, which he said will help to prevent future injury. :) And they are in network with my insurance, sweet! read more

super crowded. i think this is b/c there are not many PT places in the area. The techs are good, but there are just too many clients at once. They demonstrate the move and then run off to help someone else. Oftentimes, I didn't know if I was doing it right and if I wasn't, I would be scolded like a disobedient child. I suppose the proof is in the pudding, however. After a couple months, my problem was much much better. read more

I was going for therapy all the way out in NJ because I just couldn't find a therapist locally, but this place has been an absolute dream. It's within walking distance to my house and everyone I have worked with has been so pleasant and professional. I have chronic back issues from standing all day. Boris Gilzon, the owner and therapist, first suggested I come in. We met while I was going to Slope Fitness, where their other location is in Park Slope. From our first conversation I could tell he was a very experienced therapist. The space is huge and bright, which is a total contrast to my previous therapists dungeon of an office! I went to Park Slope Physical Therapy after a bad elbow sprain. I worked with Boris a couple times a week for a month and he was fabulous! I have full range of motion in my elbow again and he also addressed pain that I was having from wrist rotation. What I particularly liked was that Boris wasn't just focusing on my elbow, but helped address the imbalances in my shoulders and back from months of limited use of one arm. Overall, the space is beautiful, the staff is very friendly, and the quality of care excellent. I highly recommend it! read more

I am so glad that I found this place! I have been in and out of physical therapy for a few years because of chronic knee pain that had started to radiate to my hips. I met with Boris and I could tell right away by the way he treated me and his other patients that he really cares about helping people. He is by far the most experience therapist that I have ever worked with. During my initial evaluation he diagnosed my new pain and already started giving me treatment. By the time I walked out of there I was already starting to feel better. If you have ever been in pain, you know what an amazing feeling this is!!! The place is also really bright and open and close to the subway. Bonus - they were very friendly in dealing with my insurance and helping me make my appointments for next week! read more

I discovered this new physical therapy office on Fulton street. I was going for therapy near my work in Manhattan, but this place is much closer to my home. I am currently recovering from a hamstring injury. This office just recently opened, so I got an appointment right away. Boris Gilzon, the therapist, turned out to be the owner of two other offices in Park Slope. I had an initial evaluation and a follow-up session with him, and already I can tell that he is an experienced and intelligent therapist. He spent a lot of time with me, and showed me some new exercises. The space is huge and has Pilates equipment, TRX, and weight machines. I am already noticing a difference in my recovery, highly recommend it. read more

Thank goodness for Parks Sports physical therapy and unfortunately I've had to use them quite a bit this year. I went in January after my bilateral knee replacement and Boris was great. I saw him initially at the Garfield location in the beginning stages of my recovery (when I was still using a walker) and he reactivated my quads which were traumatized and not activating. Later I worked with Katie on Fulton and she helped me correct some imbalances and get my gait back together. This month I had rotator cuff surgery so I'm back at PT...sigh... and Katie rehabbing me, passive ROM and doing soft tissue work which I think is speeding up my recovery. read more

Katie Wallner is THE NECK EXPERT I've always dreamed of. Her deep massage work on my chronically out of alignment neck is heaven sent. The warming packs they put on the areas of treatment are wonderful. There are lots of props in the space. this place is a social environment where there are several patients getting treated at a time by one person, so if you are looking for a quiet, undistracted, spa atmosphere, this is not for you. It's way more fun than a doctor's office though. The space is open, has a nice exposed brick wall, nicely decorated, and Linda the receptionist is cheerful. Katie even emails me a custom exercise program I can print out at home and follow along. They have an amazing rebounder pilates machine for my hamstrings. They also have cardio machines for warming up. read more

I went to Park Sports Physical Therapy following surgery on my fractured (olecronon) elbow. I had been informed regaining full range of motion to my arm would be a big challenge because of the type of fracture. I told my physical therapist, Dean Zanteas, I wanted to set my goal at full range and was willing to put in the effort. Dean was 100% behind me. He first contacted my surgeon to make sure he understood my case so he could provide thoughtful instruction to meet my goal. We then worked on regaining extension since this was the hardest movement to recover. A typical session would start with a 10 minute warm up, and then several non-load bearing movement exercises with Dean's oversight. I also did many of these exercises at home as he recommended. After a follow up with my surgeon and gaining almost 90 degrees extension, he added weight-bearing exercises to my flex therapy. After 8 weeks and almost full range of motion, I am going to join a gym to continue my exercises and will reach out to Dean with any questions regarding gym equipment, etc. thanks to his offer. Dean has been a great physical therapist and I highly recommend him. read more
