I highly recommend them for PT and would definitely work with them again (though hopefully I'll be healthy enough that I never have to!). What stood out to me was the level of expertise, professionalism, and kindness I received from everyone I worked with, from the physical therapists and assistants to the front desk staff. Dr. Medina's calm demeanor was a balm for my jangled nerves when I first showed up--and she helped me through many months of recovery after foot surgery. I also had the pleasure of working with Dr. Diehl, who always patiently answered my many questions, cheered me on, and made me feel relaxed with his easy bedside manner and sense of humor. I even got to work with Dr. Gee a few times when he covered for folks who were out, which was fantastic because I got a fresh perspective on my issues. The PT assistants Claire, Kyle, and Amara were super helpful and friendly. And, of course, Nina was the delightful "face" of the business when I came through the door and opened my email, no matter how many schedule changes I needed to make. When we come in as patients, I know it can make us feel vulnerable, maybe even a tiny bit broken (I recall Dr. Diehl replying to that sentiment by saying I was just slightly and temporarily bent, not broken :) ). Despite that feeling, or even because of that, I encourage folks to show up open to the experience. For me, the more I was willing to connect with the good people at G-Sports, the more I got out of it. Thank you for helping me unbend all my bent parts, G-Sports! And good luck with your PT, everyone! :)

I cannot say enough good things about LaFoot in Berkeley…read more My brother manages a grocery store and is on his feet all day. Recently he started having significant foot pain. As a nurse who has dealt with bone spurs and plantar fasciitis myself, I immediately told him he needed to address it -- both by resting and by investing in proper shoes. I've been trying to convince him to upgrade his footwear for years! I found LaFoot while scrolling Yelp. The name caught my attention, and when I read that it's owned by a physical therapist and staffed with students/residents in orthopedics and foot care, I knew this wasn't just a regular shoe store -- this was going to be different. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. Parking was easy (even on a busy day), and we were greeted by a tall, slender young man with glasses who introduced himself as a kinesiologist (I'm so sorry I didn't catch his name!). He was professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He had my brother remove his shoes and socks, observed his gait by having him walk up and down the hallway, and even demonstrated how my brother's current shoes were too flexible by twisting them. Then he brought out a Brooks shoe and showed us the difference in structure -- it barely twisted at all. He explained why that stability matters. They measured his feet the old-school way with a sizing device to ensure a precise fit. They also noticed that my brother's feet turn slightly inward when he walks, which likely contributed to his pain. What I really appreciated was how they used a skeletal foot model with bands to visually demonstrate what was happening. For visual learners, this was incredibly helpful and made everything make sense. When my brother tried on the recommended shoes, he immediately said, "Oh my God, these make such a huge difference." That alone told me we were in the right place. The exact color he wanted wasn't in stock, but they ordered it and had it shipped to his home within a few days -- seamless process. Yes, the shoes were $154. But when you consider the amount of time he spends standing and walking, and the importance of preventing long-term foot issues, that is absolutely worth it. Your health and comfort are not the place to cut corners. The professionalism, the education, the attention to detail, and the way they truly listened -- both to my brother and to me -- really stood out. This isn't just a shoe store; it's an experience rooted in understanding foot health. We left feeling confident, informed, and genuinely impressed. Highly recommend.

The salesman first had me walk the length of the store so he could look at my gait. Based on that he produced an athletic shoe that was heavy and said I needed a shoe that couldn't be twisted. The salesman said I could try them out at home and if they didn't work, I had 2 weeks to return them. The shoes turned out to be too heavy and tight for me. I wore them at home for about 4 hours but decided they were too heavy and uncomfortable. I returned them 3 days later. The salesman said there were marks on the shoes from the 4 hours I wore them within my house and as a result, he could refund only 70% of the $150 price. He never offered an alternate pair to try. In fact, he didn't appear interested in helping me at all. I wondered how LaFoot stays in business with such poor service and limited selection. There is no way I can recommend this store.

A massage therapist told me I had a tight piriformis muscle but I didn't know exactly how to address it, except with short-term pain relief. Even though I have insurance, I came to Opus Physio because I wanted someone really great, who would work with me one-on-one in every single session. In my initial assessment, Ki quickly zeroed in on the fact that I had a muscle imbalance where my left hip muscles were weaker, causing the piriformis muscle to work too hard and start acting up. Over the next few months, he helped me bring my strength back up on my left side so that it is comparable to the right, and I haven't had any pain since. Ki is super knowledgeable, kind and patient. I felt like I could ask him any question and his explanations were always very thorough. He helped trouble-shoot any other issues that came up as I went through the exercises. When my treatment ended, I felt like I was equipped to maintain the improvements I had made and go on to have a normal workout routine. I highly recommend Ki if you're looking for someone who can diagnose you right away, create a tailored treatment plan and is attentive to you in every session. If I ever have any issues in the future, I will definitely come back to Opus Physio.

If you have the option, I cannot recommend The Technique enough. I knew when I signed up that working with him would be an investment, and it is one I am so glad I made. I came in with an injury that I have been struggling with for 4 months. I had been seeing another PT but I had repeated setbacks during my recovery. I was in consistent pain and I wasn't improving. In 3 weeks or so, Rob has gotten me to a place where I can function again and even push my physical limits. He is kind, reassuring, and his hands-on work has consistently made an obvious impact. Immediately after getting off the table, I feel less pain and improved stability that last. His work on me has allowed me to push further during session and during at-home exercises, which he's tailored based on my feedback. TLDR: I've already recommended Rob and The Technique PT to friends struggling with injuries and would urge anyone to book a free in-person consultation. Rob is amazing and I look forward to every session. I can't thank him and his team enough. -Raya (she/they)

I hate to be the first reviewer leaving less than 5 stars, but given that PT is a major investment, I felt I should be honest about what worked and what didn't work for me during my treatment. What worked: -Dr. Lin has excellent bedside manner and generally makes his patients feel at ease during treatment. I can tell he is also a well-trained massage therapist with expertise in various techniques. -Dr. Lin takes a holistic approach, isolating not just the symptom but root causes that may stem from various parts of the body. -The practice was well administered and Dr. Lin's assistant Milly is fantastic. What didn't work: -The holistic approach felt like a double-edged sword, as it caused my treatment plan to lose focus. At its peak, my plan had over 20 PT exercises. When I expressed to Dr. Lin that this felt unmanageable, he suggested alternating 10 each day. But this still felt unwieldy and I couldn't do all of them while really focusing on form and progression. I later switched to a PT with a different approach, identifying a highly specific biomechanical chain of events that contributed to my condition. He prescribed just ~3-5 exercises a week with a keen attention to detail. Ultimately this led to a much better outcome for me and I'm now back to running at pre-injury levels. Of course, for other conditions, Dr. Lin's approach may work better than it did for me. -I felt that, at times, my feedback wasn't fully considered. After about 8 sessions with Dr. Lin, my condition re-flared and it was bad enough that it was inhibiting my sleep multiple nights a week (to be clear, this was unrelated to our work together and unfortunately is just a part of my injury). When I expressed concern about my progress at that point with the hope of adjusting my program, Dr. Lin focused his explanation largely on anxiety, leaving me feeling that my concern itself was unaddressed. Also, after about 10 sessions, I noticed that his massage approach felt too aggressive for my injury and wasn't really helping, rather it led to more next-day soreness. When I expressed this, he did reduce the massage intensity that particular session but unfortunately returned to the previous intensity the next session.

She was very welcoming and helpful in working out a good time to come in for an initial consultation. When I came in Deena asked me about the injury and listened patiently to my "theories" and concerns about it. She then suggested several exercises and movements for the finger and the reasons behind them, many of which were brand new to me and fascinating - e.g. that scar tissue can sometimes fuse with tendons but that carefully directed massage can unfuse them (had No idea...). I had forgotten to mention in our initial phone call that I also had a groin pull and she again gave me some thoughtful suggestions to follow for that. (We had a shorter session because I had arrived quite a bit late (!) and her next appt was waiting). The useful information, and perhaps Most importantly, peace of mind I received in talking to her was invaluable and "would" have been well worth the hourly rate but when I inquired about the best way to pay her she informed me that she was "gifting" the session to me - a very unexpected and generous act. All I could say was that I would "pay it forward"... Worse yet, he made numerous mistakes with my billing that resulted in them sending me to collections instead of charging the alternate card I put on file with them (more than once, mind you). Apparently the same jerk at the front desk with zero empathy just never bothered to do that and sent the file to collections. I was in the hospital at the time due to a more severe back injury than the one I came in with a couple months before, so of course I wasn't receiving whatever messages they were sending for a $45 bill. The therapists there at the time don't even work there anymore. When I called back to schedule more appts after getting out of the hospital, the same guy told me he would check what I needed to do to clear up the bill and schedule a next appt. Two weeks later I still had not received a call back to tell me anything, and when I called again it was the same attitude and lack of empathy on the other end of the phone. Now he's saying I needed to provide proof of payment (despite the collector not providing a way to pay on the web or in any way that provides a receipt). Instead of doing what any other professional organization would have done (call the collector and confirm it was paid), he told me that they can't schedule anything without proof of payment, which is impossible to provide when you paid over the phone. Of course he hadn't bothered to tell me that or call me back to let me know before I paid, I was now I gems that I needed to call them back and ask them to send some receipt. Of course by now the letter was shredded so I have nothing to go on. This egoistic creep didn't do his job and then expects patients to jump through extra hoops just to receive care in a cramped clinic (where he openly talks sh*t about them once they walk out the door or hang up the phone). What a terrible excuse for a PT clinic. Such a shame, it's so close to home, but I don't know how I can trust this place when they continue to employ uncaring people with no attention to detail or common sense. Just don't waste your time and money at this location. Find a clinic where people with heart work. Not someone who doesn't remember when he lost whatever passion he may have had for his work.

That's when they attach suction glass to your skin that proceeds to suck on you until you are bruised. This is complete psuedo science and actually quite harmful. It is complete psuedo-science with zero proof of effectiveness. It was created to "remove toxins" from the body, and of course sucking on the skin cannot do that. It can, however, break blood vessels and cause scarring and infections. It's ridiculous and irresponsible to insist otherwise.
