I told the dr I'm fine when I still had some pain just to stop this agonizing process. Again!!!! The doctor told me he was going to prescribe antibiotics because it was "part of the protocol," but then said they were probably the worst thing to put in my body and that it was up to me whether I took them or not. I knew I'd be charged through my insurance for the ultrasound but not the $50 copay as well. After a frustrating first year of HRT, coming to AHI felt like a dream come true. Being transgender, there are not many healthcare facilities that are truly inclusive to the core. Many practices are well meaning and try to be LGBTQ+ friendly, but there's a difference between "trying" and "being". AHI is a multispecialty practice by & for the LGBTQ+ community, specifically. *That* is where you'll notice the difference. Respecting your name, pronouns, & your chosen terms for your body come standard here. No more reminding the staff every time you see them what's going on, because great care is placed in regards to respecting patients' identity. They're also multi-specialty. They offer inclusive reproductive care, primary care, informed consent HRT, PrEP, HIV/AIDS care, psychiatric services, an onsite pharmacy and more. It's super convenient to be able to have an appointment with my HRT doc or psychiatrist, then any prescriptions are quickly and automatically sent to their own pharmacy. The pharmacy does next day mail-order Rx through UPS. Getting prescriptions is super easy and painless, as is getting an appointment virtually or in office. Living close to an hour away from the actual practice, I do all of my healthcare appointments via telehealth (video). If I need to do bloodwork, they partner with Quest Diagnostics, so all I have to do is stop by a Quest before my bloodwork requiring appointment. Like I said, it's super easy to do. The staff, like I said, is extremely LGBTQ+ inclusive, and many of the staff are LGBTQ+ themselves. If you're sick of being treated as "less than" by your doctors, this place is worth a try. I guarantee you'll like it. They also take most insurances, including Medicaid.
