I can't speak to anyone else's experience, as this review is all my personal experience and opinion only, as I know not everyone will have the same experience and I also know there are some solid techs at this company (I have personally dealth with them), but unfortunately I had a nightmare experience with mutiple bad apples in my opinion, and it unfortunately resulted in the end of my storied relationship with a plumber that I thought would be the last one I would ever need, but as they say if something seems too good to be true it usually is... I thought I had found a plumber for life, but my personal experience with Option One ended up with me feeling as though they exhibited failed ownership in addressing an issue caused by errors from their techs, lack of accountability with regard to said issue and becoming confrontational and argumentative when the issue was brought to their attention. Long story short, I had a plumbing blockage that resulted in my front yard needing to be dug up and new pipes being installed in the yard. Upon completion of the job, I experienced flooding in my yard and requested Option One to come out and address the issue. They tried to claim it was an irrigation issue not their problem, but after getting another Option One tech and a plumber from another company to come out, it was confirmed (via photos) that the flooding was due to Option One failing to connect the piping correctly. Instead of taking ownership and accountability for the issue, I was met with defensiveness, along with the above stated lack of ownership and accountability. At one point in the process I even had to ask one of the techs to leave my property because he had such a dismissive unprofessional attitude. I could go on and on but I have already wasted so much time on dealing with this issue that it isn't worth any more of my time. At the end of the day, I found another company to correct the failed work done by Option One and this company apologized on behalf of Option One, as this company felt bad that I had to go through such an ordeal, given that the plumbing industry is already viewed in a negative light by many, right up there with mechanics, car salesmen and attorneys by some. You can read my past reviews to see how much I praised this company in the past, which is why I was so disappointed by what in my personal option was a complete lack of accountability and ownership by multiple individuals across the Option One company. After giving this company multiple five star reviews over the years, I cannot recommend them to anyone anymore as the trust they gained over the years was lost in an instant and based on my personal experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone moving forward like I have done in the past. read more

Very disappointing experience and absolutely will not be using Option One Plumbing again. We reached out because of a blockage in the piping after noticing gurgling and bubbling in the downstairs restroom. The customer service was responsive and promptly scheduled us for an appointment. No issues there. They also reassured us that there's no charge for the on-site consultation, which is different than the other companies that I had called. Scott was the gentleman who came to the house (it was actually my second time working with him). He quickly discovered a tree root that had penetrated the main sewage pipe leading from the house to the street. When asked about a solution, he said he can clear it out for $250. I'm no expert when it comes to plumbing so I asked what he's going to do- and this was the fishy part. He didn't make it clear as to the process except that it would be 30 minutes worth of work and involve sending a bladder down the pipe. I trusted his judgment given my decent experience the first time. WRONG! The work only took 5 minutes and he offered to send an industrial drain snake for another $500 plus. You can see where this is going and at this point I was obligated to pay the $250. When I contested the amount that I was charged for being misled to think that it was 30 minutes worth of work, Scott offered to refund the payment if I agreed to repair the section of the pipe for $3500. I subsequently reached out to the manager to complain about the deceptive act that made me $250 short with 5 minutes of work that I could've done myself. Instead of acknowledging the concern, he said that it was a necessity given the driving time it took for Scott to get to my home. I pushed back and said it not my responsibility to account nor compensate for his driving time; in addition, I was explicitly told that there's no cost associated with consultations. The manager then proceeded to reassure me that it will be refunded if I decided to pay $3500 to repair the damaged section of the pipe. He's essentially holding the $250 as collateral. No matter how hard I tried, he continuously associated the cost with the driving time instead of the actual work that was done. After almost an entire hour on the phone, I relented. It was exhausting.... Giving it an additional star because I had a decent experience the first time. Scott actually walked the crawlspace with me to assess a leaking pipe. read more

I had Option One Plumbing come out for an estimate on a 15 gpm/hr leak which made my normally $60 a month water bill go to over $200 per month. During their walkthrough, we heard input to the sewer drain line, in the basement. I immediately knew what it was, the unused fourth toilet between the seldom used guest bedrooms. Sure enough, the toilet was slowly leaking/running water due to leaky tank drain valve. I isolated the water and the water leakage stopped. I bought a new complete toilet rebuild kit and will still probably keep the toilet isolated, even after I've installed all the new parts and un-isolate it when a rare guest visits. Thanks to Option One Plumbing, they will be my go to plumber if any other issues arise. read more

Dealing with Option One Plumbing was a top-notch experience. The purpose of the call was to deal with an unknown gas leak within the house. The scheduling was exceptional, the technician arrived on schedule and accessed the situation in quick order. He provided three repair options with estimates and carefully explained each option. Once the repair option was selected, he was extremely diligent and focused on correcting the issue. He was exceptional with updates, keeping me in the loop as the work was being completed. He was extremely courteous, patient and respectful. He had a great sense of customer focus and customer satisfaction. The situation was dealt with as the emergency that it was and he worked to ensure the cost was less than the original estimate. Karson McCarter with Option One Plumbing came out to give a free estimate for a clogged tub. It turns out it was much more complicated than just a clog. He kept me informed and updated along the way. The estimate was very detailed. He was able to complete the work the same day after immediately going to pick up the necessary materials. Karson was very polite and professional. Came out to investigate our water meter dial spinning and a likely leak. Quickly jumped to assuming it had to be a busted main line and didn't bother troubleshooting all options. Quoted me $8400 as a discounted rate to dig up the yard assuming utility lines would be in the way and they would need to hand dig. Had another company out and they did check all options and we found that it was actually a busted irrigation line. They said even if they needed to replace the main it would only be $2500. Will never use option one again. Straight robbery. read more

Karson Mccarter from Option One Plumbing came out and was very pleasant and easy to work with. He did a through inspection underneath our house and recommended we replace the water regulator valve and sections of copper pipe that had corroded around connections due to age. His estimate was reasonable for the work to be done. He gave us a fair estimate on replacing a broken spout in our guest bathtub. We did not have any work done by them yet but so far they have been very professional and responsive to help resolve our plumbing issues. read more

Had a handyman do some work on our pipes/disposal-he did not solve our problem. Wife then reached out to Option One, they came the same day. Plumber was friendly and I felt like he knew what he was doing. He quoted me, fixed the problem, charged me the quoted price. Told me some helpful things. Really friendly and good people but had a bit of a rough experience with them. Made an appointment to have my disposal looked at because it was making a terrible noise. They waited all day to tell me "actually we can't make it out today." Which is fine, things come up. But Then when they finally did come the next Monday , the tech seemed incredibly confused as to what was going on, disappeared for 10 minutes and then said "my supervisor said we can't fix your disposal but i can put a new one in for $500." I said no thank you and decided to just watch a YouTube video and see if i could do it myself. I found a metal toothpick wrapped around the blade and got it out and everything is fine now. Kind of feel like they tried to upsell me. The tech didn't even look inside the disposal. Just turned it on once and then left to make a phone call. read more

Wow! This was very special above and beyond service. I called to have my gas line connected and was only in town for the evening. While they were on site I realized that our washing machine which was in a very hard to reach place also needed to be hooked up. However, we didn't have all the materials. I wouldn't use or recommend this company. Had a water pipe burst on Christmas Eve & I was informed it would cost $800 just to come out for service. The $800 wouldn't go towards the repair, but just to come out for service due to it being a Holiday. I find it unethical to charge such a large amount regardless of the time & for the fee not to be used at all towards the cost of repair. Got quoted on 5/11, service scheduled for 5/13. Plumber had to leave early on 5/13 due to family emergency, which is understandable. Came back on 5/16 and worked all day but couldn't finish because he didn't have all the parts he needed because of a truck swap; said he'd come back 5/17 @ 8:30am. As of 10am he's still not here and not answering his phone. Three trips and unresponsive for a simple job? C'mon now, had high hopes because of the glowing reviews. Guy was a fast-talking wheeler dealer and I suspected their estimate was WAY too high and even then they hinted it could possibly go higher. I denoted a problem with a slow leak from the tank to the bowl. Of several responses , Option One was the only company that could come out same day. Moreover, they offered free estimates. Upon working on the problem, Randy saw a second faulty part that may well have caused a leak from the bowl to the floor. Had I attempted a do-it-yourself on the first problem, I might well have suffered floor damage in a couple of months. Tim came out to feel with overall low water pressure and loss of temperature. After some sleuthing, it was discovered the pressure reduction valve needed to be replaced and that solved both problems. Tim had one in his truck and took care of everything late on a Friday with speed and care. Option One is a great option having worked with some of the larger Charlotte plumbers and gotten the hard sell and high up front costs. He did the job politely and efficiently.
