I have been seeing Dr. Duncan for sometime. He's a great doctor, very personable, knows what he's talking about. I wore contacts and glasses for probably 20 years, Dr. Duncan had suggested lasik and got it done. Now I just go in for sunglasses and I exams. What truly amazes me about this doctor, is that he was able to find a weak spot in my retina, and a spot where it had torn in the past. It's a family practice that treats you like family. New location: corner of MacArthur Avenue and Bristol street, right behind the Chase bank and next to the LA Fitness. I have been coming to see Dr. Duncan and Dr. MyLihn for a good amount of years now, since they had their other office by South Coast Plaza. I just really appreciate how amicable everyone is in the office. The staff is so nice, and always on top of things, like when I walk in on an annual basis they still recognize me. Their practice is honest, if the Drs see that there is a major issue they will do as much as they can to solve a problem, they don't just get you to get glasses just because or just to make a buck, they will tell you the truth. Knowing that it's a family practice, personally it makes a difference. I usually come on the weekends (by appointment only), but there were times where I really needed to see the Dr. during the week and they try their best to squeeze me in. That for me means a lot, since most offices would had told me to wait until an opening. Another wonderful thing is their variety of frames!!! I'm a huge Dior lover, and optometry unlimited has a great variation on frames and prices, they even allow to make payments on them. Overall, I am so pleased to have genuine eye doctors who really care about my eye health and not just my wallet! For some time now, I had been in the market for a quality, reasonably priced, knowledgeable and reliable optometrist after several years of being gauged for overpriced designer frames. I really found a gem in this conveniently located office!. Dr. Jeffery Duncan provided exceptional service! He was honest and upfront so I trusted him to help me make the best decisions for me! Right of the bat, he put me at ease. He was personable and very patient so I didn't feel rushed or pressured during my visit. He listened intently to my concerns regarding my vision and updated my prescription for both glasses and contacts in one visit!! What was important to me as well was the thorough explanation regarding my options each step of the way in very easy to understand terminology. For months, I thought old age was getting the best of me as I strained my eyes to see things up close. With some professionally calculated adjustments, I was able to see up close as well as far away. I took my 7 year old daughter to get an exam today and we loved the whole experience. I called the office around 10:30am to make sure they took our insurance and was answered by a lovely receptionist who confirmed they did so I made a same day appointment for 4pm. We arrived at 3:45pm (It was easy to find the location (thank God lol))We were greeted as soon as we walked in, checked in and as soon as I finished filling out the first time patient questionnaire one if the lovely ladies there took us into an evaluation room. After that we waited in the lobby, looked at the variety of beautiful frames they have and were then seen by the Dr. The Dr. was great with my daughter and she was very comfortable with him. He was very informative and answered all of the questions I had. I didn't feel like he tried to up sell, like most do, so that was GREAT. After the exam, we were helped with looking at glasses for my daughter. I was informed about my insurance coverage and we chose a pair. Overall, GREAT experience. This place was out of the way for me. By the looks of the outside I wasn't expecting much at all. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. They were very nice and the doctor was very knowledgeable. I was happy to take some sample contact lenses home to try before I committed to them. The only disappointment was that my appointment was at 10:30 and they didn't see me until around 11:10. I have a follow up appointment on Friday so I'll let you know how that goes. -----update----- After my appointment today I would like to update from a three-star to a five-star. They were right on time with my appointment and the doctor was very helpful and addressed my concerns with the sample contacts that I had taken home. The doctor recommended a few other options and for the first time I'm happily going to try one month contact lens. If you are going there for just an eye exam, the doctor is pretty good. He doesn't try to push tests on you and is very informative...so if you go for just the eye exam, I would give it 4 stars. As for purchasing glasses there. DON'T DO IT! They mark up their frames around $50 OVER RETAIL PRICE. This is just plain robbery...I could get the same frame and lenses that they offer for only $5 more at another retailer (who is open 7 days a week, and until 9pm everyday, except Sunday when they close at 6pm, thus more convenient...and I get them in an hour vs 2 weeks!). I completely understand maybe not being able to have the same services as the other larger retailer, but to price above sticker price is UNACCEPTABLE! read more

I've been coming here for years but I won't be coming here anymore. It's run by a husband and wife, Mylinh and Jeff Duncan. Mylinh is great but Jeff is not so good. Unfortunately, it seems like Mylinh is reducing her work load so you get stuck with Jeff most of the time. He comes off as being cold and unfriendly. They had a great front office person who was very helpful but they recently let him go. The remaining office staff is not quite as knowledgeable or helpful. I was quite offended by one of the staff the last time I was there. Oh well, time to find a new optometrist. read more
