Deciding to change my optometrist to save money, I found this place on Google Maps and was pleased to see that there was an optometrist close to my work. Intending to get a contact lens exam with glasses (if automatically included), I decided to call Dr. Tran's cell phone number. The next day, I got a text back from him, and we texted back and forth to set up an appointment the day after. For my appointment on 02/06/2025, I came into Dr. Tran's office after work around 6:30 p.m. We agreed that I would try CooperVision contact lenses, which I have never tried before, since I have been a loyal Alcon (and Bausch + Lomb) customer since I started wearing contact lenses. He was very quick and efficient with administering the vision exam. Although I felt like it was a rush, I was not too concerned about the accuracy since I felt that my prescription had little to no change. Thankfully, there was no change to my prescription. I ordered the contact lenses to be delivered to his office and paid $470 for them plus the exam with a credit card, and I was given an invoice, receipt and $200 rebate voucher. On 02/24, I wondered if my contact lenses came yet and thought that perhaps the doctor forgot about them, so I decided to text him to see if they were delivered yet. He told me that he would let me know, so I waited until 03/03 to ask him again. He replied that he would check by going to his office. A few days later, I started to get worried and asked him again if he saw my contacts, and he replied the next day saying that he was trying to figure out what happened to them, and since the rebate was supposed to be submitted no more than 60 days after the purchase date, he would make up the rebate date. I reluctantly acknowledged his response, but I was still worried. It was extremely stupid and irresponsible of me, since I did not notify him that I would do such a thing for fear of making him upset, but I called my bank on 03/07 and disputed the payment I made on the day of my appointment. I did not want him to find out, but I felt that he eventually would and hoped that it would be after I would get my contacts, and then I would try to cancel the dispute, so we would pretend that this never happened. About a week after opening the dispute, I saw that my transaction was reversed to my relief but felt bad that I did such a wicked thing without telling Dr. Tran, but I just wanted to make sure that I would get what I paid for. Then, I honestly made an appointment with another optometrist that was close to my home with the intention of getting a contact lens prescription and year's supply of contacts. By chance, Dr. Tran texted me on 04/04, which was very thankfully before my appointment, to tell me that my contacts came. I replied to him that I would pick them up, and we agreed that I would come the next day. (I also asked him if I could get a copy of my prescription since I was not sure if he wrote me one the day of my appointment or if I misplaced it.) When I went there, he had 7 of the 8 boxes, and he explained why it took so long, and I believe he told me that he was trying to find the boxes that matched my prescription in his inventory. He told me that he owed me the last box, which he would order. Unexpectedly, he requested that I pay the amount that I originally paid, and I realized I got caught and played dumb, asking him if I did not pay him that amount already since I did. He asked me if I called my bank, and I was a bit shocked and dismayed, at a loss of words. I admitted to him that I did since I got worried that I would not get my contacts, feeling extremely bad for deceiving him and ashamed of myself. He told me that my bank called him to ask him if it was OK to reverse the payment I originally made, and he agreed with the intention that once I received my contacts, I would make the payment again. He knew the whole time what I was up to without letting me know. I paid the same amount again and was given another invoice and receipt with the same rebate voucher as well as the prescription, and I apologized to him multiple times. Later over text, I told him that I intended to un-reverse my payment when I get my contacts and hoped that he would not know what happened but expected that he would. (If he would find out, I still hoped he would after my payment would be un-reversed.) Finally, on 04/15, Dr. Tran told me that my last box of contacts came, and I picked them up. He handed it to me just when I came in, and I left without so much as more than a goodbye, justifiably so since I pulled the rug under him without warning. From this whole experience, I learned to be patient and communicative, especially when it comes to essential matters such as this. It is always best to communicate your intentions before doing them especially in business. Because of my actions, I felt like I lost his trust of me. I hoped that I really learned my lesson and can apply it to the rest of my life. read more

DO.NOT.COME.HERE. They will NOT message you if they close that day/doctor doesn't come in. Made an appointment as a first time patient. On the phone they make you free rush as you try to book an appointment. Arrived for my appointed time only to be met with a dark building, lights off, and barred up door. If this is how they treat first time patients I don't recommend this place. Unprofessional and asked if you can instead come in the following day instead.... The least they could do is message patients that they won't be open/doctor won't be in. Wasted time and gas for nothing read more

Exams are easy to schedule and very accommodating when needed. Found out our friends have gone to him for over a decade for the same reasons. We've recommended him to many of our friends as well. I would probably rate it half a star if I could. The only reason I would give that is because my brother technically received glasses. The owner was rude, doesn't come in for days at a time, gave a 10 minute exam which resulted in my brothers glasses being too strong and when asking for a lower prescription was told it would "take too long" and that enough time had already been spent when we the customers have been waiting weeks due to his lack of being in office. Not to mention him going back and forth with my brother on the matter. If you're looking for a place to get glasses or contacts I would avoid this place after your exam you may never see him again. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!! I went in to get an exam for contacts. After paying the fee and getting a sample pair of contacts, the owner explained he would shortly afterwards email me my prescription. I NEVER got my prescription! He kept making up excuses when I would call, telling me he had already left for the day. He would make it seem as if it were my fault that I called too late in the day and he would keep saying call me tomorrow, over and over. I will be reporting him to BBB and the other channels as well. Sorry, I did not have good experiences. The glasses we ordered in May eventually could be picked up in August. I have to call to chase it... otherwise, I never got informed I could pick it up. The owner did not offer the time range or operating hours to pick up but dictates the time like crazy 8 AM for you unless you further ask. The most strange thing is he acts like a busy robot. He did everything on his own like crazy without recruiting some help. He's so busy without any reaction when you even politely say "thank you". What did customers do wrong to get those services? The place is messy and full of open boxes all the time. Probably we're just one of the busy orders to be delivered. I have been a client for many years (back when they were in Irvine). It's very unfortunate that my daughter and I went to get our yearly check up inn 'OCTOBER 2021". We still have not been able to pick up our glasses. I have made numerous attempts to pick them up. 2 weeks ago Dr. said he would meet me at his office at a specific time. I showed up and the business is completely closed. I'm shocked at how unprofessional my experience has been! Till this day his office has not even had the common courtesy to at least respond. Great optometry office. Dr Tran is very smart and informational. He is patient and answers all your questions. I have been coming to this office for several years now. It is always easy to book an appointment time. The office offers some Saturday hours. Dr Tran honors your appointment time without having to wait forever in the waiting room, like other optometry places. It is a quick visit for the exam. In and out. The office offers a good selection of contacts and sunglasses. Dr Tran takes a picture of your eye to insure that there is no eye disease with no extra cost to you. He shows you the actual picture and explains it in detail. Dr Tran lets you try your prescription on to make sure you are comfortable with the contacts before you commit to a prescription. I read some of the other reviews knocking the stars down for the office staff which is a shame. Shame on the office staff, they need to get it together. Let me pay him in installments when I was in financial trouble. Was amazing at discovering issues with my eyes and opening up his office so my kids could come in on a weekend for an emergency. Incredibly unprofessional doctor and office. I have made numerous attempts to obtain my medical records. I've even spoken with Billy Tran in which he promised to send them - to date nothing. In fact, the last response was the ophthalmologist will do their own testing. HOWEVER, I need the records for historical purposes for a potential issue. Legally doctors must provide records within 30 days. We are LONG past this date. I had an emergency; I lost my glasses and needed a pair ASAP back in October. I called around and reached every optometrist within a 15 mile radius to see who could make glasses on the spot. This place was jt. I'm very appreciative of the quick service. However, Dr. Tran had a patient right before me. The equipment was not cleaned when it was my turn and EVERYTHING in this place is dusty. I even asked if they were moving because there were boxes everywhere in the lobby. Dr. Tran said they were not moving. He quickly rushed me out the door once my glasses were ready. I ordered non reflective lenses that would come in a week or so later. He called me right away and I went in. When I went to get the new lenses installed, he didn't allow me to wait in the lobby and asked me to wait in my car. There was no one else inside. The dust, boxes, and uncleanliness were still there. He's alwAys rushing you out the door. It's quite an uncomfortable feeling when you're paying hundreds of dollars for his service. read more

I've been going to him for awhile and he keeps making sure to update me on my eye health and encourages better sunglasses habits for me in particular. He cares about your health and does his best to take your finances into account. He's very fast-paced, so just make sure to be clear about what you want and he has always been very accommodating and wants to provide the best service he can. Walked in first thing on a Monday, right after open at 10am without an appointment. Dr. Tran and his team were so amazing and wonderful. They got me into an exam room and were extremely caring, and thorough. Dr. Tran is fast paced, extremely smart, and articulate. I have a slight beef with the way big eyeglass conglomerate Luxottica treats their employees and Optometrists, and Dr. Tran explained to me in detail a Devil's Advocate argument for them, while also explaining his own view. In the end, he kept that preference in mind and subtly suggested a nice pair of Kate Spade frames for me. He even sent me home with a pair of trial contacts that he had in store and worked with my insurance to get the most out of what I could get for the best price. I have never been so happy with an eye exam in my life. Dr. Tran is the best doctor. He made me feel listened to, his passion and intelligence really come through when you're sitting across from him and I don't think I'll ever go to another eye doctor ever again. Hands down the best optometrist I've ever been to. Dr. Tran has a completely different methodology from the big "brand name" places. He sat with me for almost an hour testing multiple different prescriptions and brands for contact lenses. Beware of this place, came here as an emergency appointment called & he told me to come in at 11:00 am this was before Thanksgiving. The doctor checked my eyes said my eyes were very inflamed & that's why I was having a burning sensation, he prescribed me steroid eye drops said I would need a follow up appointment in a week to continue my eye exam. He also said their will be no charge for your follow up appointment that he would call me. I texted one week later no answer, then I called he picked up said he would look at his schedule & let me know. Up to this day I still haven't hear from him. Dr. Tran was a god send for me! I had an emergency a couple of weeks ago due to wearing some heavily infected contact lenses. When I took them out, my eyes were burning pretty bad and I had went to an urgent care on a Saturday and flushed them out and was prescribed some antibiotics. Sunday morning my girlfriend called a couple of optometrists because she didn't want me to wait until Monday because of how much pain I was in and even though Dr. Tran wasn't open (like most the places I called), he was the only one that understood the emergency I was in and told me to come in right away. He explained to me exactly what I did wrong and game planned with me to get my eyes back in good health. I was also changing companies at the time and didn't have insurance and helped me find different ways to lower the costs for my prescriptions. I'm not a frequent yelp reviewer but I had such an exceptional experience at my appointment today that I had to. Cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Tran. Literally the most comprehensive eye exam I have ever experienced by a caring doctor that treats you like family. Dr. Tran would literally have spent a full hour answering my questions had I the time. Honestly, the man's probably the most caring medical professional of any sort (physician, dentist, optometrist, etc.) I've ever been to. Can't recommend him enough. I figured I owed my fellow Yelpers a review on this place since it was other Yelp reviews that helped me discover this optometry! Pros: -Dr. Tran is very practical and accommodating. Yes, he speaks a little faster than most people but at least he gets you in and out in a timely matter! -He encourages that you visit him as often as possible and at any time if you ever have a problem .. free of charge, of course. -He confirmed my glasses were good to go and didn't try to talk me into getting another pair. -He gave me sample contacts of a different brand than what I usually wear and included lubricating drops and an alternate contact solution. -He constantly asked me if I had any questions or concerns and addressed them all in a concise matter. I had a 5:30pm appointment (right after work) on a Monday afternoon and parking was not an issue but I did overhear him telling another patient to avoid making Saturday appointments because it turns into a madhouse. There was only one other patient looking at glasses at that time and the time it took for my exam, consultation, payment: 20 minutes! My insurance covered the co-pay and exam fees as well as 4 boxes of contacts so I left with $10 credit :) Cons: None! read more

On a Monday I was in a fret because my eye was irritating me a TON. I saw Park Place Optometry on Yelp and gave them a call and text. Dr Tran dropped everything and saw me even when they were closed!!! He was efficient and quick and prescribed me drops for my bacterial eye infection within 10 minutes. I appreciated his desire to be flexible to me knowing that I was in pain. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back! read more
