Dr tu is an awesome pediatrician! She takes her time and is never rushed making sure all questions are answered. We were very upset when dr fialkoff retired but glad to see dr tu is a similar way. My brother had 2 regular check at this place, when the bill came, it showed 2 times "professional checks" which are 50 dollars different. I called them and requested a call back from the doctor, the representative told me she would call us back in 5 business days. As the result, there was no call back and they sent us a letter said if we were not paying the exactly amount from the invoice, it would be sent to a collection agent. Over about 100 dollars, we do not want this is going worse, all we need is an explanation. It's disappointing. read more

Generally a good set up for all your medical needs. It does feel a bit impersonal but I would say the friendliness, efficiency, promptness in response to calls and requests for refill etc are decent. Non-urgent specialist referrals range from a couple of weeks to a month or so. For urgent care there is a 24 hour place in Pasadena. My own doctor at HCP is great. Health care used to be a cottage industry and now all are institutionalized. I recommend. read more

The place is dirty and run down. Needs painting and updated. The pharmacy looks like a trashy 99 cent junk store They decorate their offices with paper cuts outs as if in kindergarten all over again Doctors stare at their computer screens without interacting with their patient. I feel like I am at a county facility with no money even though I pay 1200 a month for our insurance premium. Too bad they have the government employee attitude. No one takes the responsibility to handle a problem. Sad system that needs freshened up. Sadly I have seen 8 doctors between my children and husband. All are lacking Hard to have confidence in any of them. My children wish we had kaiser again. You have to wonder why they can't be at least as well ran as kaiser. Never busy so why not treat patients as if they matter. They have the time just not the desire I guess. She tried her best to help him and gave some very doable advice regarding at-home care. Believe me, he threw quite a tantrum, and the doctor was awesome. This review is regarding my two daughters new patient appointments with Dr. Miranda Tu. We were so happy when we found out they could get us in in less than two weeks. In the past we have had to wait over 30 days to get a new patient appt, and had to even go through our last pediatricians urgent care to be seen for what would have been a normal office visit. The staff was super friendly and informative from my first phone call to inquire if they were accepting new patients, til we walk out the door after making two follow up appts. Feeling like the staff sees my children as individuals rather than files to ouch through is so refreshing. Dr. Tu was so engaging with both me and my girls (12&13) asking questions but making it feel like such an organic conversation. She never made us feel rushed and seemed genuinely interested in our answers. She had sent in a prescription for my daughters inhaler. When I spoke to the pharmacist she had suggested I switch to a different brand that was equivalents but was better with my insurance. I called the office and spoke briefly with the nurse explaining the situation. She informed me that she'd pass the info along to the dr. The last time I had to switch my sons prescription it took two weeks with our last pediatrician. But a nurse called me in less than 30 min to let me know the dr. Had changed the prescription and sent it to the pharmacy. What a relief! With two kids with severe asthma and allergies we feel so blessed to have found Dr. Tu and her staff!! read more

Mother of 3, one with special needs and trying really hard to work with broken system, AGAIN, and really frustrated. We have been coming here as a family for many years from our very first child now onto our third. We've experienced really great medical care/advice/treatment (Dr. A. C, former doctor) to those who have that doctor complex and everything in between. I digress, this incident is about a Commercial Service Denial Notice (CSDN) pertaining to my child with special needs. We were requesting to see a specialist that his team of physical therapist and orthotist have recommended, more importantly from a facility that specializes in the medical needs of children (CHLA, in Arcadia, Ca). My child has cerebral palsy and is required to wear ankle foot orthotics (AFO's) to ambulate. He needs these because he is unable to, on his own, get his feet to a neutral (90 degree angle) position to walk properly, something his brain cannot communicate automatically because of his tight muscles from cp. He has gone through much in his short life in attempt to improve the quality of it. We have worked tirelessly with a team that includes his physical therapist who has been treating him for 4 years, he is 5, an orthotist, the school specialists including occupational therapist, adaptive physical education (both of which he has successfully graduated out of) an ophthalmologist, neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, and a gastroenterologist in the past. I have learned quite a bit about specialty medicine. This particular referral is for a new orthopedic surgeon in CHLA who specializes in children with cerebral palsy. The orthotist had me request the referral from pediatrician because he not only believes this doctor would be able to treat my child better than the last, but that she was also in our network. It turns out, she was not. Thus the letter, it wasn't a direct denial of services, rather a modification, and we're again sent back to orthopedic surgeon we were trying to replace because of dissatisfaction due to multiple factors. Not what we wanted. My son has been without his AFO's (unable to wear for less than an hour, to not wearing at all due to extreme pain) for approximately 3 months (while attending preschool) because his condition is changing and he need more than just physical therapy. He is currently waiting for his 4th pair of AFO's from another recasting of his feet/legs in attempt to improve fitting, but chances are he might need his leg(s) casted, and/or botox, past treated with mixed results. Here is where the new orthopedic surgeon and her emphasis on treating children with cp comes in. The letter stated that she wasn't in our network which I fully understand, and I explained to E. at HCP that I was misinformed that she was and if I could just get someone else who was ( knowing my chances of receiving care was less than slim from an out of network doctor, and prioritizing immediate medical needs for my son) so that we could proceed to treat my child entering kindergarten so he could confidently attend school without worrying abut tripping and falling, injury. She flatly stated that my only option was to go back to see this doctor for a new consultation, and IF he says he can't do ANYTHING for my child, then he can go see the preferred doctor as per her conversation with care management (mouth agape). This is what I have to do. I begged and pleaded with her for another option because guess what, this has happened before, with a an outcome in my favor that took EIGHT long months of fighting all the way to the top at Blue Cross, but this is what happens when you go through appeals process, you fight. I'm not technically going through the appeals process, but I am still having to fight. E. accused me of being negative, not having the correct medical notes from orthotist for referral to prove my son NEEDS this specialist. She knows well that my son has cp, I offered to get her whatever notes, letters of referral, proof, photos, ANYTHING she needed to proceed without going through this route, but no, this is the route, so I made my appointment E. and I will go in with an open mind because my mind is on one thing and one thing only, my son and the medical attention he needs. E. was not only condescending but uncaring and from jump she just seemed irritated speaking over me, telling me what not to feel, that they were not they enemy, ultimately unwilling to help when on our final call, asked the protocol if the doctor agreed he wouldn't be of any more help to my son (because I didn't want to waste time with not dotting and crossing as per their procedures, she again tried to talk at me. I had had it at that point and firmly stated to her that I was not being negative, but proactive as I have been getting different answers from A.at HCP and wanted to confirm as to not miss anything required on my part, per her accusations. I will keep an update for those of you who are interested in the outcome. read more

Dr. Tu is a wonderful pediatrician. She will quickly feel like she is part of your family, that is how much she cares. She has in the past called our home, cell or has emailed us to check in our children after a visit. She is truly special and we are very happy to have found her. Follow your pediatrician around from one inconvenient location to the next for 11 years, with 3 kids. Then when they retire, they don't even bother you letting you know - surprise! The phone number and name you've been putting on your kids' field trip forms is no longer valid - for months - and you have no idea. But Healthcare Partners does not care. Don't do business with this organization. They will treat you like a number and swamp you with customer satisfaction surveys. They do not get it. read more

I have been coming to this clinic for over 10 years, and was until now, very happy with my primary-care physician, who unfortunately just stopped practicing. I was advised to make an appointment instead with Dr. Marjorie Alvir at this office. What a huge mistake, and what an incompetent doctor!! She wasted a massive amount of my time, and cause a great deal of unnecessary worry by ordering the wrong version of a test, which required me to come back and forth to the office several times over the course of a few days. After all the confusion ensued, a nurse sheepishly informed me that Dr. Alvir should have asked me a few simple questions, and based on my history, ordered a different kind of test (a chest X-ray) that would have been done on the spot, and taken all of 5 minutes. The nurse knew exactly which kinds of questions should have been asked before determining which version of the test I needed, but Dr. Alvir had completely neglected to ask me any of those questions. To top it all off, when I asked her to refill a very routine prescription, she sent the order to the wrong pharmacy, which also cost me another half hour of my time. I could not believe the incompetence that has cost me so much of my time and stress. The one star is for the many great years of efficient service from my former doctor (now irrelevant, sadly) and for the great staff at this location. But avoid Dr. Alvir at all costs! read more
