Review is not for our doctor but for Optum as a whole. Customer service is awful. In the summer of 2025, they were short staffed and kept transferring my calls to West Covina, and while staff was kind they couldn't help me. There was absolutely no way of getting a hold of my daughter's doctor and this went on for a week. I just now called to have her medical records transferred over to Huntington Health, since I do not want to deal with Optum anymore and they said let me transfer you and then proceeded to hang up on me. It's apparent nothing has changed. Glad we are done with Optum because it has been awful since they took over. You can never reach a doctor or get an appointment. My mom's been coming here for a while now, and with each appointment, I normally go with her. I've seen the service and care the staff gives and my mom is pretty content with them. She sees Dr. Trang Eng as her primary doctor. She is pretty frequently to make sure she's in the best health she could be! Dr. Eng has always been very patient, kind, and helpful with anything my mom needs. The place is a bit outdated though and can use some TLC! When calling to make a pediatric appointment for my child, I am put on hold for 20 minutes. Called three times and the average wait was 20 minutes. And then they said that there was no appointment available and to go urgent care. When passing form to the doctor to sign, they told me that they will contact me once the form is ready. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is one of many attempts go in person for myself for something that isn't a physical but they want me to be seen by phone or video. You cannot check someone's throat and ears by video or phone. It's absolutely pathetic. They only want to see you in-person depending on your symptoms. I had been getting the run around 3 times at this one, one doctor, would not give me a diagnosis and I was being given referrals to all these questionable "doctors", some with spaces with no equipment but a hearing test machine, the rest of the place was empty. it turns out it was Meniere's disease, which can be dangerous if you are driving and you get vertigo, the last one was a different doctor who was the one who told me what it was, he was a good doctor I won't out him but I had a femur neck fracture, and it didn't show up on the Xray but the pain was still I saw a different doctor about that because it was the same day and I had no appointment, he told me to get an MRI if it stiil hurts after 2 days so I talked to the new doctor and when I saw him he was acting strange and not his usual self like he was nervous, and he told me to wait another week but I insisted so I got the MRI and sure enough it was a fracture, I think these doctors are following instructions and not acting on their own good judgement or it's just the culture there, like they only treat the right-sort so I left this one. This last time was with a specialist which I think there was a mix up I was supposed to see a different specialist in a different city but I got message with this specialist, I have ankylosing spondylitis, and it was found on an MRI at the Huntington ER then my primary Doctor had me get a blood test and it turned out I had the antigens but this specialist(Massoud Soleimani) just walked in the office asking in a frustrating way, "why are you here to see a rheumatologist?" when he got the referral so he should have known, then when I told him he just said I don't have it, and wouldn't listen when I was having flair ups and the the MRI, but, he didn't try to get the MRI just looked at the record of the blood test and was just saying that it didn't mean I would have symptoms, which is true, but I did, It was seen in the MRI and I have the antigens and the flair ups I've been getting, he also wouldn't look for the MRI information or say any thing about it, he just looked at a 5 or so year old X ray of my hip saying he didn't see any thing when that was a 5 or so year old X ray of a hip fractur I have healed from with no problems, and was of my hip and not my spine. What the hell? that has nothing to do with right now, and, he wouldn't listen just like with the other doctors, And I herd other people have had the same problem including my X girlfriend who left this one for the same reason. If you try to get an early appointment, you might as well forget it. The scheduler in the front has no compassion whatsoever. I was in pain and try to get same day appointment. They told me the earliest appointment is January 23. They sent me to urgent care, which they did absolutely nothing and sent me to ER. For years, I complained that Optum should set aside couple slots so the primary doctor can see his patients on emergency basis. Absolutely unprofessional and disregarded HIPAA laws. I never came to this location nor have I gone to an Optum in the past 4 years, but they had my profile in their system because of UnitedHealth Care. They have sent me messages saying I had an appointment but I initially thought it was spam. I then received follow up reminder messages that looked like a copy & paste so I continued to disregard it. However, come to my surprise, they called my dad instead of calling me to ask about my appointment (which I have NEVER made and was very confused to why my dad's number was listed). I understand mistakes can happen, but to break HIPAA laws and tell someone I did not authorize to share medical records with is the first mistake I was frustrated at. This was unprofessional on their end. Most of my frustration comes from the way they "mistook my profile for someone else's who actually did come in". This caused them to think I had a child, so imagine them calling my dad saying that I had a baby or implied an abortion?! Absolutely unacceptable to mistake such a big record to the wrong person's profile AND patient. This location displayed true unprofessionalism and I am extremely disturbed at how they scared my family unnecessarily and myself. I called to figure it out and the person I spoke with said they mistook another patient's visit as mine, or they placed the information of another patient's visit under my profile. I do not understand how this could've happened but I am very unhappy with this situation. Never had made an appointment before nor really familiarized myself with Optum, but I will definitely try to stay away from coming here because of this situation. I post this so the facility does not make this same mistake to someone else as it caused a lot of stress in my household. I would love to give 0 star if there is an option! Primary care is a nightmare. They have over 10 providers yet there is never an appt available. They push you to urgent care when knowing urgent care doesn't do anything. The nurse who works with PA agrawal absolutely hates her job. I was released from the office without getting my lab. When I went back a minute later, I was told I have to get back in line and wait for my turn because she is already moved on with other patient. Her bedside manner is extremely hostile and impatient. I would say if there is an option, do not come to optum. Find another place, another doctor!!!!! read more

I called to make appointment at 8:35 AM and I was told they can only give me a virtual appointment due to having a cough. They mentioned it would be with Dr Singh bc Dr Eng is booked through July. I said that is fine as long as they can schedule today. They gave me a 1:00 pm appointment and It was already 1:37 pm and I haven't received a call for my appointment so she said she would check bc she didn't know the reason for the delay bc I should have received call. They had me on hold for approximately 15 or more minutes and then told me that I need to come in person or go to urgent care. I mentioned to them this morning that they were the ones that said I can't see them in person bc I have a cough so they were the ones who said they have to schedule a virtual appointment today. She then said she doesn't know who I spoke to that they should not have scheduled a virtual and should have had me come in person instead. mentioned it is now after 2:00 pm and you expect me to get an appointment today so she told me to go to urgent care. I told her that is the reason i called first thing in the morning so I can get an appointment now you are telling me that I should have to wait at urgent care. I mentioned that is the reason I have not been to Optum in a few years bc of their service is unacceptable and they are all not on the same page. I definitely will not be returning to this facility on 5th and Huntington Dr. bc it still has not improved. They need training and need to be all on the same page. We've been kept on hold for over an hour for the last several months. Something is broken, and management doesn't seem very interested in fixing it. This review is for Dr. Marinda Tu! She is incredibly friendly and a natural with babies and toddlers. She visited us at the hospital and checked out the little one. Dr. Tu also made an effort to return calls promptly in between appointments to help assuage my anxiety when the little one wasn't feeling well. When we visit her in person, Dr. Tu never makes us feel rushed and will try to answer our questions as thoroughly as possible. Definitely A+ in addressing patient care. We have been only been to the office during routine visits (knock on wood) and never had to wait more than 10 minutes before being escorted to our assigned exam room. Scheduling and modifying appointments are easy as pie. I really appreciate that there are separate sick child/well child waiting rooms and there are other doctors within the practice. If Dr. Tu wasn't available, we could probably also visit with the two other doctors who both have good reputations. The nurses are great as well. Optum has an issue with those of us who meet our Out Of Pocket Maximum (OOP) for any calandar year and despite the insurance company telling them in fax, email and verbal over the phone MULITPLE times REFUSES to stop ILLEGALLY (HIPPA guidelines apply here) charging me a copayment I do not owe since mid March 2022, And just for fun: Optum has no records of any communication with me or Anthem Blue Cross (my insurance provider), Anthem has all their records of their communications with me and Optume with ID numbers and date/time stamps. Anthem has filed a grievance agaisnt Optum. For those who do not understand your insurance company's role: your insurance company is the one who pays your medical group to manage your care a pretty hefty dollar amount on a monthly basis (whether or not you see a doctor, it's called Capitation) to take care of your medical needs. For this to happen that medical group must be responcible enough to remain DELAGATED. IF they are proven to fail to manage the patients they are paid to manage, then that medical group can become DEDELAGATED and your insurance comany oversees EVERYTHING which means the medical group gets less money for your care since they are not able to properly manage you. This OOP is an issue I run into EVERY YEAR since having the amazing coverage I am gratefully blessed to have. I am not the only one to have these issues. I am one of the lucky ones to have a $500 annual out of pocket maximum that takes into accout not only Optum items but all my medications and mental therapy appointments as well. Generally, if you have a Commercial HMO insurance plan, all behavorial therapy is a carve out that only the insurance plan handles. Your medical group has nothing to do with that unless you have a Senior plan. All medictions are another carveout taken care of by your health plan, not your medical group who ONLY prescribes medications and if necessary takes care of the prior authorizations for some medications that require additional approval. Who am I other than just a patient having an issue? A retired healthcare worker in HMO for 30 years. I've done contracting, credentialling, provider relations, executive assistant and in the last 10 years of work I did LOA's, MOU's and was a programmer/analyst for Decision Support, Finance and Utilization Managemement. I also trained others and developed databases and manuals for others to use when needing a simple report for their own analysis. Iv'e done more than what is listed here for mulitple departments. Additionally, I am a past employee of Health Care Partners (HCP) who is now called Optum. Anthem pays Optum. Anthem also sends monthly data sets to Optum called EOB's (explanation of benefits). Optum runs their own EOB's every month and updates their information based on Anthem's. Last week I got another bill from Optum. I have called them in May, June, and July to let them know that they have already spoken to Anthem in April and the result was an official letter from Anthem stating I met my OOP maxium for the Calandar Year 2022 as of March 16, 2022. They still have no record of it as of July and still demand that Anthem get involved, AGAIN and AGAIN. Anthem has sent the letter and spoken to them on more than 3 seperate occasions. In late August I got another bill from Optum, this time I didn't want to waste more time with Optum so I called Anthem first and explained my frustation over this. Anthem called them. Again, Athem was told they HAVE TO REQUEST FROM OPTUM (who does not have all financial data for my care) A REPORT ON MY PAID CO-PAYMENTS? Anthem has already spent quite a bit of time and money for their employees to RE-do this request every time. DESPITE Anthem having already completeing this in April and sent the OFFICIAL LETTER to OPTUM in APRIL 2022??? This process took about 2 weeks back then and everytime I have called to correct Optum. Now I ask you, what kind of a$$ backwardds B$ is this? I think a class action law suit in order at this point for causeing so much stress and trauma for those of us in this caetegory. Why don't I change medical groups? Because today I have multiple chronic issues that requre specialists I currently see and are excellent providers. They have nothing to do with the Mis-Management of the buisiness side. It isn't my any of my physisians faults that I also recieved a Plastic Surgery referral from an Oncologist I have never seen, ever. Perhaps my prayer for a tummy tuck was answered by the fairy god-referall coordinator? Ha ha no luck on that, I did call to ask becuase I was so confused. maybe i actually did have cancer and this was a nice positive way to be told because in the end I would have plastic surgery? In case your curious, it was a mistake and no I didn't get any plastic surgery nor did I have cancer. I've always loved Healthcare Partners / Optum for the fast service etc. The doctors are great for the most part. My issue is with the staff which is usually the reception areas in internal and where you get your blood drawn. Almost every time I go now they are gossiping about other staff members or super loud and inappropriate. Somehow when one person calls it's like they never spoke to their other team members. They're always confused, or it's the third call with the same information I already received etc years ago I had a person who was "shadowing" being trained go in the system and find my number and started texting me. I was too young then to know the protocols and Hippa violations. The staff needs more guidance on professionalism. read more

Dr Mandeep Singh is a great primary care physician. She takes her time and really listens to my concerns. She speaks to me like an adult and involves me in my healthcare decisions. Front office: Lasette who is in charge of referrals and scheduling is amazing! She not only checked and re-checked my referrals she also called me back to give me updates. I never requested a call back but she is just very thorough! I feel so confident in my assessment of this medical establishment I've even brought my 2 daughters over as patients when they aged out of their pediatricians care. Dr. Tu was our cranial specialist referral from our HMO for our twins head shape. Twins usually have asymmetrical, flat heads that need to be nurtured to help develop back to a symmetrical round shape. We were told by Cranial Technologies that our kids heads were moderate to severe in the misshape and would require helmets to help shape them correctly. Dr. Tu would need to approve them. We were really concerned at this point. Dr. Tu really eased our anxiety of it all and told us that if we made adjustments at home, their head shape would develop naturally and get back to normal. She taught us stretches and positionings that we needed to do to help them. After 5 months and a few follow ups, she said our kids heads are pretty much back to normal and look fine now. The pediatric staff were always friendly towards us and the kids. They always fit us in when we needed it. I am super happy Dr. Tu was our doctor through this whole process. She was so kind, knowledgeable, encouraging, and helpful. And she spared us the $5000 expense for helmets they did not need! read more

Wow, this is a BIG Healthcare Partners office if I am comparing to the primary location in Alhambra. I was referred to this office by my primary doctor to see a specialist, and got lost trying to find the correct office. PROS: -Pharmacy located on 1st Floor -Specialist -Friendly Staff -Huge Parking Lot CONS: -Business Hour is only M-F 8a to 5p (I wish they have extended hours or weekends...) -No Walk In -No receptionist on the main floor Yeah, I think my biggest problem with this location is that there don't have a receptionist on the 1st floor directing you to the correct office. What made matters worse is that the doctors recently moved their office, and their signs were not updated, so I basically walked aimlessly into 3 different offices before I found the room where my doctor is located. Overall, it's a great location because they have all sorts of doctors/specialist available. read more
