Optum has horrible patient care. After taking over Beaver the urgent cares close at 8 and there's only 1 in the area when there used to be 3. When no appts are available for Days or weeks the only option is the ER and who wants to go sit in an ER for hours due to a possible strep throat. The "affiliates" can't get your medical history and optum staff can't access the doctors notes. Calling the nurses on call is useless as they can never help due to how Optum runs their business. read more

I was under the care of my OB, Dr. Sadjadi at Optum, starting in September 2025 during my first pregnancy. Due to complications -- my baby measuring in the 1st percentile -- I was advised that all imaging and high-risk care would be handled through Dr. Brar's office. From early on, I was repeatedly told they were convinced the issue had to be genetic. We went through more in-depth NIPT testing, and everything came back normal, yet that assumption never seemed to shift or be further investigated. Starting in January 2026, I was seen weekly at Dr. Brar's office. During this time, I rarely saw Dr. Sadjadi and trusted that between both offices, my care was being properly managed. Looking back, that trust feels incredibly misplaced. Despite being seen every single week for a high-risk pregnancy, not once was my blood pressure checked. I was later diagnosed with preeclampsia, with blood pressure reaching 158/102 -- a serious and dangerous condition that should have been caught much earlier with routine monitoring. Instead, it was missed entirely. This ultimately led to an emergency induction and the devastating loss of my baby at 26 weeks. There are no words to fully describe the pain of that loss. What makes it even harder is knowing that something as basic and standard as checking blood pressure -- a fundamental part of prenatal care, especially in high-risk cases -- was completely overlooked during consistent, weekly visits. Follow up with Sadjadi regarding this care left me feeling dismissed and unheard - she would simply tell me "oh honey don't stress" and never addressed my concerns. I feel deeply let down by both Dr. Brar's office and Dr. Sadjadi at Optum. The lack of attention, oversight, and accountability during such a critical time in my life is something I will carry with me forever. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend their care to others. read more

While I have received good patient care from my doctor, I have been frustrated by the billing process. An annual appointment with no co-pay gets billed as an "office" visit months later. Later I find that I owe a co-pay. This has been confusing and frustrating. It leaves me feeling like they are trying to nickel and dime me instead of providing upfront patient care. read more

This office has terrible receptionists specifically one named Crystal who refuses to acknowledge you with any respect and claims because she used to work at Dr. Brar's office which is a specialist who they recommend you to go to for ultrasounds if you want a partner with you. This is my first pregnancy and I am currently 16 weeks and 4 days and I have yet to even meet my OB Dr Sadjadie and based off these reviews I am cancelling all my appointments and figuring it out. I am so disappointed in the care OPTUM refuses to give to their patients and hope this is a warning to people to find alternate care. read more

I am so disappointed in the lack of staff . Doctors and schedulers. You just can't get help at this place. I make an appointment with OB which got canceled. I've been having complications after surgery and the OB tells me to go to urgent care if I have a concern whereas she told me after the surgery to see her if have any problems. The Doctors are too overwhelmed and there is not enough of them to give the patients the proper care they need. I'm going with Kaiser soon because of how the care has gone down and I have no faith in Optum. Very horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. I had a bad experience with my establishing doctor today. I was discussing the purpose of my visit. The doctor did not care was rolling her eyes only cared about her point of view and what she assumed to be right which in the end verified by staff was incorrect. When I verbally expressed my dissatisfaction with her customer service, she became condescending. Wanted to cancel my appointment because I wasn't understanding what she was saying and I stated that. I did understand what she was saying, but I did not think it was useful of my time to be spending 20 minutes going back-and-forth about miscommunication with the staff and doctors back in March for a referral. I told her I was a patient, not a staff and it wasn't right for her to involve me in any of their issues I told her I wanted to move forward request a new referral and she interrupted my visit to confirm she was "right" opened the patient room door and asked openly in front of other patients with the staff. They confirmed she was wrong about the referral and had an attitude after. She threatened to "cancel" my appointment after I stated I wanted to transfer doctors as there was a disconnect. She stated I was educated enough to Know what I was doing. I will be filing a grievance. read more

Literally such a terrible OBGYN office. I hate that we have almost no options in the area other than these large groups. Some of the providers are good, but the front staff and nurses are so incredibly difficult to get through to. I'm having my second miscarriage and I called in to try to get confirmation of my pregnancy loss and the person I spoke to (Crystal) was SO INCREDIBLY rude to me. She said that I'm not an established patient so I needed to go to the ER (I literally had my last baby there and have an apt scheduled for this pregnancy in a few weeks). Basically, they won't schedule you until your second trimester and then they won't provide any care prior to that if something happens. This is NOT providing care to pregnant women. I did call Crystal out on speaking to me so rudely during a terrible time and she changed her tone, but it doesn't erase the fact that I'm sitting here in tears and my OBGYN office will not provide me the care I need as a pregnant woman. read more

FYI - Redlands Optum lab hours at 2 West Fern Avenue are now 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday only. This information is not posted on Optum's website, but is printed on the doors to the building. As I mentioned in my review of Redlands Advantage, since Optum acquired Beaver Medical Group, primary care providers (and to a much lesser extent, other specialists) are maintaining more patients, wait times for appointments are longer, and services have reduced hours (the lab used to be open at 5 am). Really disappointing. 4 mos wait time for an appointment. Doctors don't speak english and the quality of care is pathetic. 15 min appts whether you're finished or not. The doctor I had today has never seen me before and was "diagnosing" me without knowing my history. She told me I had allergies - I told her I never had allergies why did she think that, she said my throat. She then prescribed 3 additional medications. Long wait times for the lab. I went right at 7 to get my labs done. I checked in and waited 30 minutes before asking how long the wait would be and was told that hadn't even pulled my labs yet. After asking it took about 10 more minutes. Then I was in and out in less than 5. Overall the wait was long but the care was good read more

In my recent experiences with Optum I've noticed marked improvements-efficiency wise, the lab on Citrus has reopened and extended care now accepts appointments. It seems there have been improvements in turn around time for scheduling appointments, too. read more

They don't like patients being proactive with their health. They unexpectedly cancel your appointment and can't reschedule you until 2-3 months later. And don't choose Dr Douty as your doctor. They see far too many patients per day to even remember you or know what's on your chart. Stay healthy and stay away from them. read more

My father is a patient there and every other month is assigned a new doctor because the last one left before he could even see them. He cannot get medications refilled because he has not "established care with this doctor", but how can you establish care when you cannot get in. He had been in numerous times to see different providers including a cardiologist, NP and a PA, as well as having labs they still cannot refill his medications and claim he has not been there or had labs in over a year. It is like their doctors are incapable of reading the records on file. I would no recommend them to anyone. read more

The worst medical group I have ever encountered. Massive disconnect at every level. Support staff appear to not be trained properly, especially when patients are referred to specialists. Orders, referrals and authorizations are not followed up and often faxed to the wrong office. Doctors appear to be overworked seeing too many patients a day. I was told that Doctors are advised to address only 2 issues per patient per visit. When I called to complain, I was informed that there was no department or individual to file complaints with at Optum. I will be changing medical Groups and insurance (United Health Care) during open season. read more

Optum is by far the worst provider I've ever had. I wanted to get a dermatologist because my acne was getting out of had. My doctor put a word in and I got denied? How's that even possible? On top of that they're still asking for the 675$ just to be referred to one despite never being referred to one. It's mind boggling to imagine they think I'm going to pay 675 for quite literally nothing. The whole Optum medical system is out of wack and my previous primary care physician (who was honestly the best doctor I've ever had) quit and told me before leaving that Optums way of running things was the reason. I have to say I am more than pleased With Optum. I guess it really depends on which Physician you are using, and I have to Totally recommend Pei-yuen Tang, as a very caring doctor, that listens to her patient, and attempts to answer all questions. You will not feel rushed in any manner, and feel she is very truthful with her answers. If you are able to request her as your primary , I think you will be pleased. The building is big, and a little confusing when you walk in. The receptionist will give you direction as to where to go, after you have given her your name. So for years the lab opened at 7am. Without telling anyone or being courteous to their patients, the powers that be decided to change the lab hours starting September 16, to 0800 with lunch starting at 1130-1pm. And they are totally shut down for lunch. No care or concern, letting patients know by mailer or email blast. What BS. I'm sitting in the upper lobby with a group of people on their way to work as well as an elderly lady that took an Uber to get here. This Optum group has completely destroyed the already lacking patient care from Beaver. I can't get out of this medical group fast enough. Been a patient here since 1981. I'm enraged as to the poor treatment of patients. Maybe that's why my primary care doctor took a pay cut to leave and practice at the veterans hospital in Loma Linda. read more

I have been a patient of Beaver Medical for 20 years and have been very satisfied with them. Now that Optum has taken over my family and I will move from Optum to Kaiser next years. The Doctors and Staff are great but I feel Optum has tossed aside good care for profit. They shut down the Cooley Ranch Lab, 5 minutes from my home, and now I have to drive to Redlands, which has had hours cut also, to sit in 2 hour wait time. Also the issue is that with everyone being forced to go to Redlands Lab there is NO parking. Finding a spot is impossible. Last I was there it took 45 minutes to park so I ended up parking three blocks aways an walking with serious angina!! They made a heart patient who is scheduled for a triple bypass walk a half mile to go there.. Ridiculous! They are losing Doctors, staff and closing off facilities thus making it harder to get your care done! Now with the cuts to maximize profits the staff are no longer doing things such as online disability forms, they are making me, a disabled senior who is going into open heart surgery in a few days, run around like mad because they do not want to. In the past the department putting me off work has always file the online form. Also, Monica in Records allows her poor attitude from a bad day be directed at those who call her. She has done what she is supposed to but every time I speak with her I get the feeling she is annoyed she has to actually talk to a patient! My old Doctors and the last person who worked in Medical records all helped my immensely but I guess its Optum's policy to offer no extra help to their patients!! Since Optum purchased Beaver it has gone downhill drastically! Even the facilities, last I was there they had unsanitary buckets all over the floors because they refuse to repair the buildings.. The absolute worst. I'm surprised they have 2 stars. I was ontime for my appointment, and there was 1 receptionist dealing with a patient. I was 3rd in line by the time It was my turn the receptionist sent me to the rear check in station. When I got there. I was told I was 10 minutes late and they wouldn't see me. Even though They would make me wait to get seen. I drove 50 miles from the high desert to Redlands for this appointment. In her best resting b**ch face she said I could reschedule if I want​. Thank goodness I was only there for an absess. I went home and lanced it myself.
