Before bringing in the Core team my husband and I struggled with making decisions around the final design. However once we brought in Corey's team, they helped with determining the design elements and provided great guidance & suggestions that made the decision process much easier. Once to repair/flatten shingles around a dormer and another time to patch a hole where a chimney was removed. For the dormer project, he ordered a whole package of shingles and let us keep the unused ones. That was helpful because we used those same shingles for the patch project. Barcco Services gave us a quote to remove the chimney AND patch the roof. His quote was really low compared to the chimney masons who also gave an estimate. We ultimately decided that using both companies would maximize the expertise and give the best value. We were very pleased with their cooperation and coordination. Later, we recommend Barcco Services to a neighbor and they were pleased also. The estimate was lower than they expected.

He was dependable, with a cheerful disposition, excellent workmanship and attention to detail. He fixed a ceiling design problem that the architect overlooked and worked with me and the city to redesign it at his own expense. He went above and beyond my expectations, for example installing a linear (curbless) shower with excellent tile work. Everything from the windows, walls and doors, etc. were installed square and solidly. He also built a custom bench in the mudroom which has received many complements for its unique, beautiful and ergonomically comfortable design. I am a very fussy and detail oriented homeowner--hard to please. I fired two previous contractors for sloppy work. But, in my experience, Vando and EENN Construction demonstrate professionalism of the highest caliber, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly for both small and large construction jobs.

We were promised construction would begin in November 2017 and would take approximately 60 business days to complete. We were made to feel confident in our choice of contractor, signed the contract and made the initial deposit as required. The city then asked for changes to be made to the drawings before they would issue a permit. We asked Nazar to make the necessary changes to comply but he did not. Due to Nazar's reluctance to work with the city officials to make the necessary changes the permit was not granted until May 2018. But he did charge us over and above the contract for the trips made to talk to the zoning board, notify the abutters and for the building permit, all of which were already included in the contract. The addition still wasn't ready in November of 2018. At that time the roof already leaked, water was bubbling up from the floor in the great room due to a leak in the shower caused by the plumber nicking a gasket in the shower assembly, there were cracks in the walls in every room, the finished flooring was uneven, the installation of the moulding was horrendous, there were outlets that didn't work or were installed upside down, the sliding glass door screen never worked properly and daylight could be seen while looking down the upper track. The decks were substandard; they didn't regrade the yard. I have photos and videos for documentation. In addition, there were also wiring issues/fire hazards. A portion of the wiring was laid directly on top of a hot water pipe which resulted in the insulation melting before we caught it. Nazar demanded an additional $2,800 to repair the leaking roof because he thought it was "beyond the scope of the project". We had lost all confidence in Nazar, Brian and the Avatar team. We hired an outside contractor to repair the roof leak. When the external contractor started the roof repair he immediately found the source of the problem: it had never been flashed. Not flashed properly--not flashed AT ALL. We eventually were forced into arbitration then the pandemic hit. It was finally settled earlier this year. The arbitrator found in our favor.

He is a pleasure to work with, immediately responsive and understanding and full of excellent economical ideas. Roy presented me with imaginative options, and then worked tirelessly to see that every contingency was covered. The contractor he suggested was thorough and professional, complying with strict condominium association rules. The job started and finished on time, and Roy stuck around to make suggestions and help out, and to give me further advice about other issues. One of the best experiences was trotting after Roy through the maze of Ikea; he is completely knowledgeable about their products and knows all the shortcuts through the vast showroom. I love the work he did for me, and I had fun being with him too.

He went everywhere with us and did it all for a flat fee as opposed to the hundreds of dollars an hour other designers and architects have billed us for.
