OSS IS A FABULOUS PLACE! I'm in the process of getting a front tooth implant, and have been under the care of Dr. Tony Rubeiz at both the Plymouth and Norwell locations. Dr. Rubeiz ("call me Tony") is a fantastic surgeon. His touch is deliberate but also very delicate. Post surgery, I'm experiencing little to no pain.......amazing! Dr. Rubeiz takes the time to explain everything, and is quite amenable to any and all questions. I also want to point out the friendliness of all the support staff at both locations. And the two dental assistants working with Dr. Rubeiz (Kelly in Plymouth and Erica in Norwell) are very professional, while also extremely friendly and caring! This is my second visit with Dr. Lincoln. I was so impressed with him 5 years ago when I had quite a few extractions with no side effects or problems after. I didn't even feel the nova cane injection he was so gentle When I found out I needed more extractions I had no doubt who I was going to. I am at their Norwell office after my wisdom teeth were not extracted as scheduled last week. I do not have dental insurance and was transparent about this as well as requested same day extraction due both to limit out of pocket costs and time from work. My tooth is NOT impacted and the oral surgeon, Joseph Leibovici confirmed this as well at my first appointment and that he could not remove due to his schedule. He was late meeting with me. I was also told in Quincy office inaccurately that Medicare did not cover extraction. My lower wisdom tooth was cracked after I was hit by car as a pedestrian. The tooth is exposed, at risk of infection and Medicare will pay if their billing office accurately bills and submit. Office refused to submit and Oral Surgeon declined to speak with me instead sending his Billing Clerk who declined to acknowledge that patients wisdom teeth are extracted on same day if not impacted. This is also stated by patients who reviewed Oral Surgery South on both Google and Yelp who stated having wisdom teeth extracted same day by other oral surgeon's in the practice. When consult for $500 added onto extraction this not only drives up Dental Insurance costs but makes out of pocket expense prohibitive. For extraction of 2 wisdom teeth if I chose to proceed plan will be another $1000 + the previous $500. Of course they took another down payment for booking 2nd appointment. Oral Surgery is big business with clearly no oversight! Beware unbeknownst to me until a billing problem and reading Yelp/Google and Trust Pilot Oral Surgery South if allowed will scam you out of money both if insurance and without! Can't be trusted and after trying to resolve they don't care! read more

My daughter recently had her wisdom teeth out with Dr Rubiez. Wisdom teeth removal are never a pleasant experience but I was very impressed with Dr Rubiez. He was very thorough in explaining the procedure and made my daughter very comfortable and knew exactly what to expect. He was wonderful explaining to me how things went and had her joking in the recovery room. Her appointments were right on schedule but the Dr took extra time explaining details and making her feel less anxious about the experience and knew she was in good hands. The Dr even called her later that evening and again the next day to see how she was feeling and to remind her ice was her best friend. He really cared. My two other children had teeth removed elsewhere and did not have the same experience . I wish I had known about Dr Rubiez at oral surgery south. I have to have an implant myself and I know who I want to do the procedure. We highly recommend him read more

I put getting my wisdom teeth off for several years because I was so nervous about being sedated. But, finally, the time came, after cracking one, to the point where I was in a lot of pain. I researched a bunch of dentists in the area and ended up coming here after the great reviews on Google, even going out of my insurance network, to ensure I found someone I felt comfortable with. Not gonna lie, when I went in for the consult in their Norwell office, it was a little overwhelming. The person who did my x ray was definitely new and had to be told what to do, what not to do, etc, which put me a little on edge. It was like a factory in there. Staff buzzing around. Patients coming and going. A little busier/stressful than I had envisioned or at least hoped for to help with my already heightened nerves. Happy to report I did not have any billing issues like all of these other negative reviews talk about. On surgery day, I went to their Quincy office where it was a much different pace. Quiet, very friendly and helpful staff, and a pleasant experience. Very thankful for the support staff who kept me talking to take my mind off of everything. Putting the billing aside, I can only speak for Dr. Cataudella and his assistants. I've had 2 procedures done under twilight sleep and all went well and the recovery was fine. I am a white knuckle patient and they try to ease your mind. I will say that I had one day that I was DYING in pain and I called the office and got another Doctor who didn't seem to care. So I toughed it out even though you shouldn't have to. Would reccommend. read more

I have been a patient at this practice for a bit. The The staff for the most part are very nice, however the billing is the worst! I had a procedure and they told me I was out of network. I was using my medical insurance for this because it was something other than my teeth. So it should have been covered, all of it. I had the procedure and while I was driving home they called and wanted payment. I told her I was on the road and she said she can take it over the phone. She was rather aggressive and I told her to email the bill and I hung up. I paid that bill and got another bill in the mail!!! I called my insurance and they said I should have paid nothing. Insurance called the office and they were told they don't have to abide by the insurance only with medicare. What they heck? The complaint is now in the hands of another department so I need to wait. Word of caution Do Not go to this dentist. read more

Dr. John Cataudella and his staff offer the highest caliber of oral / oral surgical treatment and expertise. Dr. Cataudella is a well seasoned oral surgeon with the training and experience to thoroughly and completely understand and ultimately resolve just about any issue, from wisdom teeth extraction to tooth and bone infections and anything in between. He is immensely confident, assuring and easy to speak to. He is patient and careful and meticulously thorough without being excessive (and charging the patient for excess). A doctor you can TRUST. He goes above and beyond the call of duty. He has gone out of his way to assist me after hours and during weekends when I've been in pain, on more than one occasion. He CARES. I cannot recommend him and his incredible staff (technicians, secretaries) enough. He has one secretary/scheduling attendant named Debbie who is beyond helpful. She never fails to recognize the severity of the patients situation. I'm immensely impressed with her high standard of patient care and customer service. You must go here if you want your oral surgery experience to be as seamless as possible! Also, I've been to all three facilities (Norwell, Quincy and Plymouth) and all three are immaculately kept. The technology is state of the art. The offices are clean and spacious and comfortable. Go! You won't be disappointed. read more

Like many of the low reviews it is about pricing and billing not the procedure. Long story short they do not submit claims properly nor promptly. My son was evaluated for wisdom teeth removal and we were charged $96 up front and it took several months for refund. We then needed to pay the $2,200 for procedure by the day it was done. They then submit as medical which gets denied (they know this will happen) then it is submitted to dental so it takes 3 months to get a refund for the portion we owe after insurance applied. When the claim is processed our insurer only allows just over half the amount charged so my refund is much smaller than expected. I have an appeal with the insurer to review their amount allowed vs Oral Surgery South amount charged so that will part 2 review. At the very least, this office likes to max imize their interest on premium collection while these claims take months instead of weeks to settle. read more

My first one star review... oh how I knew this day would come. Now I do know that this place has some great surgeons, but unfortunately I don't even know if I will be going back here. I went in for just an evaluation of my wisdom teeth for removal. This was ONLY an evaluation. The doctor barely looked at my wisdom teeth for 5 minutes to see if they will be ok for an extraction. He said that it will be absolutely no problem in getting them out. Same thing that other dentists have told me before. That was it, no x rays, no bite wings, no panoramics, absolutely nothing else. All was fine, until.... A week later I get a bill in the mail for $152 dollars. My first reaction? "Gasp! No way I'm paying this at all." So I let the bill sit on my desk for 2 weeks. It only took one phone call to get me out of this. I spoke to the billing department for probably less than 2 minutes saying that there must be a mistake because there is no way something what they did would cost $152 and they said that my insurance hasn't gone through and to disregard the bill entirely. Now, what if I hadn't called these people about the Bill? What if I just went ahead and paid this for what little I did get? Based on the other negative reviews that I didn't see before today I can say for certainty that Oral Surgery South is in desperate need of organizing their billing services. I feel like I am dodging a bullet by making the decision to not go here for wisdom teeth surgery after getting that bill. This might seem like I am making a fuss about a little thing (I didnt even pay for it) but this is highly unprofessional for anyone to do. Sending me a bill before the dental insurance even goes through with no followup of their own explaining it was a mistake. I can only think of the other people who would have paid who didn't speak up. Poor souls. read more

same problem as other reviewers, surgery went well but billing was a nightmare. Wisdom teeth was removed in Janurary and finally they sent me a refund check yesterday, I only got to know this when I call them today (this is my 4th call after the surgery). First they told me a check was mailed to me 2 weeks ago, then said 1 week ago, I asked if they can tell the check was cashed, guess what the answer is that check was only mailed out yesterday. I called my dental insurance today before I called them and was told the claim was cleared like 2 months ago. What a messy billing department!!! will not go that place for sure. read more

Where to start... the oral surgery went well, but billing has been a nightmare. As it was explained to me, Oral Surgery South first send bills to your primary healthcare provider. Once they receive a response from them, they bill your secondary or dental healthcare provider. In my case, I let them know that my primary would likely deny the claim and that they should go straight to my dental health provider. They said they had to bill my primary first, which would have been fine if they actually had sent the bill to my primary provider. One month after my surgery, bills started to arrive at my house. I called Oral Surgery South, and they told me that it takes time to process bills and they I should disregard the bill that I had received. Another month passed, and another bill arrived in the mail. I called my primary health care provider, and they told me that they had never received a claim from Oral Surgery South. I called Oral Surgery South, and they told me that they would resend the claim to my primary healthcare provider. The next month, another bill arrived in my mailbox. Again, I called Oral Surgery South, and their staff was curt and unwilling to help. They told me that they did submit the claim to my primary healthcare provider and that they hadn't heard back yet. They told me that they would log online to see if my healthcare company had made a decision on my claim, and that they would also just go ahead and bill my dental healthcare provider, which begs the question, why didn't they do this in the first place? When I asked the staff member who I spoke with, if they could call me back to let me know what they discovered when they logged online to see if a decision had been made, their response was, "We can't. We're really busy here." I have called the office at Oral Surgery South each time I have received a bill. Often times I would leave a voicemail, and I would never hear back. To be honest, I don't even know why they have a voicemail system. They have not once returned a phone call. This morning, four months after my oral surgery, another bill has arrived. Another voicemail was left, and I am sure I won't hear back from their office. read more

Same problem as others. Every month I call them to see the status of the bill. It's been now 6 months since the surgery. They claimed they sent to primary healthcare even though I informed them that they did not cover it. They claim they had to anyhow. (Although that took 3 -4 months of calls to get them to send to the primary). Primary denied it, so now it's taking me another couple of months to see if they will send it to the insurer I gave them the information for in the first place. Phone is always busy. Too bad because the Oral Surgeon we had was very good as were the nurses, etc. read more

The nightmare continues. Had wisdom teeth removed March of 2014. Fought with Billing Dept. then about what I owed after insurance. I thought it was resolved. Fast forward to today. I received a bill stating I owed $259. Really! Two years later? I called the Office and fought with them for 20 minutes regarding the bill. Debbie hung up on me in the middle. Great customer service (NOT). After I called back, they stated that there was a mistake. They owed me $349. Wow, you guys are really on top of things. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!! read more

My thanks to Dr Cataudella for a job well done. He took a compromised tooth and bone loss situation, stabilized it with an implant, and now I have a working tooth back. I feel fortunate that I was able to have him, and his team, on my side and I very much appreciated all of the efforts to explain the process and answer my questions. I am, without a doubt, one of the world's biggest babies in the dentist's chair. Somewhere in all of this, we establish a relationship of sorts, and trust. It gave me the confidence to follow through. It doesn't get much better than that. read more

I had an appt here in March during a snow storm for which the doctor did not show. They did try to contact me but I didn't get the message until I had gone through the white-knuckle journey of getting to their office in that storm. I called back a week later to reschedule the 30 min consult and they told me that they could not see me until September. Their doctor cancelled and they couldn't find me someone else to consult with me for 6 months? And this was just the consult! I couldn't schedule the surgery until I had that consult so it would have been months after that! I contacted Dr. Lane in Plymouth and they saw me 3 days later and were so incredibly professional and now I do not have to wait 6-9 months to have a dead tooth extracted. This is by far the worst customer service I have experienced. read more

Horrible customer service and billing department. My 18 year old daughter went for consult for wisdom teeth removal. They charged her $63 and told her she had to pay that at time of visit since insurance didn't pay all of it. This is before they even submitted the claim to my insurance. They then take all my insurance info before her procedure and tell me that the insurance will only pay $1809 and I'm responsible for balance of $1120 2 weeks! Before she has procedure done. That's they're way of confirming that the patient will show up for the appointment they told me. I refused to pay that 2 weeks prior and said that I will show up for her appointment on time and pay them any money I owed them that morning. They were very reluctant to accept that condition and had to get another woman from the office to speak with me and she made me feel as if I were trying to short change them and I would need to bring cash or bank check! Unbelievable! I should have followed my instincts and walked out but my daughter wanted her teeth removed to get out of the pain she had been experiencing. Immediately after the procedure I get a bill saying I owe $1809! They tell me to disregard and that the next one should be correct. For the next 5 months I get the same bill and call them and they tell me that MY insurance is slow. I spoke to my insurance and they tell me that they have not received a claim from that office. A lot of excuses from Oral Surgery South about delayed EOB paperwork when in reality their office was not billing my medical insurance 1st and my dental insurance was secondary. After all is said and done they ended up OWING ME! So for 5 months they took my $1120 and now they have to give it back. And also they had to refund $63 that they took from my daughter. All along I had insurance that covered everything! And all they want to do is say my insurance was slow in paying. In this day of electronic claims everything is so fast if you submit it correctly! Their billing office personnel is snippy and condescending trying to make me feel bad about this. I have had this same insurance coverage for over 20 years and have had numerous claims but have never experienced anything like this where an office says I owe them and 5months later says , oh sorry we owe you that back. Don't ever go there if you have insurance! They are horrible! read more

Beware! I took my son for a "consultation" after his dentist (who is wonderful) referred us to Oral South. I made the appointment for the "required" consultation to make sure that his wisdom teeth indeed needed removing, and filled out the multiple forms in office. Everyone there acted quite edgy. The doctor saw us for exactly 4 minutes. We were ushered to the office manager that said our insurance did not cover the extraction (she was wrong, they cover 70%) We were then ushered to the cashier who handed us a bill for the "consultation" (4 minutes) for $134.00. Which she informed us was not covered by delta dental anyway. I HAD asked previously on the phone about any charges there may be. I was told it was covered by insurance, no worries. Be warned. MAKE SURE you have it in writing what is covered and what is not. DO NOT go to any appointment that you are not willing to pay for out of pocket. I am not kidding. These people act like they know they are scamming you from the start. I was taken. Hope this helps others. read more
