Excellent care I'm feeling very good 1 day after extraction. I highly recommend Dr. Timothy Colton

I saw him today and I must say the expierence was quite terriable. For once I went there with no insurance, and charged me $425 for a simple tooth removel with forceps. I looked around and other surgeons charge roughly $200 for the procedure. While on top of that his secretary kept coming into the room before the procedure trying to collect the money, all while she told me to pay after when I simply offered to pay before the procedure. They also left out dirty needles and used saline medications on tray rack connected to the chair I had to sit in for the procedure. As you can see in the photo I took while in there. For the icing on the cake he refused to give me any form of pain medication, simply because I admitted I took a vicodin the previous day due to the enormous amount of pain I was in prior to the surgery. After this experience, I actually opened a yelp account to inform people of the terriable service you receive and how he over charges. read more

He is a condescending man who doesn't care if you're in pain. He dismissed everything his patient said. She (my sister) has been in excrutiating pain and it has only gotten worse instead ot getting better. He made fun of her pain, complained about her crying (because of her pain), and continued to talk down to her when something is clearly wrong. Don't go to this doctor, he does not care about your health or wellbeing, he just wants your money. read more

I agree with previous review - if I could give a 0 stars I would. My daughter had her wisdom teeth out a month ago and still has numbness on her chin and gum. When we went in to see Dr. Colton - he couldn't have been more UNSYMPATHETIC if he tried. Telling my daughter she'd forget about it - made us a feel like we shouldn't be there and that we should be happy she can talk and eat without pain. He told my daughter she should have had them out earlier - and when I said she couldn't because she had serious health issues - leukemia - he said you're lucky she's here. For anyone who's considering going to this practice his supposed .001% rate of permanent numbness is completely inaccurate because there is no way people call back to report this after being treated like this. Also no one from the office calls to check on you after the surgery even after I called to discuss the numbness - ridiculous I don't know how anyone can work there and sleep at night. read more

Twelve years ago my wonderful dentist, Dr. Albert Pizzi, referred me to Dr. Tim Colton for extraction of the remaining root of a tooth that had a failed root canal, in preparation for either a permanent bridge or an implant. It was summer, the office was comfortably air conditioned, my consult with him was reassuring, and the overall experience was quick, painless, and reasonably priced. Flash forward to Dec-Jan 2018 when I accompanied my husband for a consult on a similar procedure. Regardless of whether or not I had ever been Colton't patient, I was completely invisible to him as I sat with my husband and listened to his description of the need for anesthesia vs. simple novocaine, and how this would likely cost about $1500 vs. $400. The vast differenece was based on the need for anesthesia. We scheduled the appointment and I immediately went searching online for affordable dental insurance with no waiting period. Fortuitiously, I landed on the site for Aetna Dental Savings - not insurance per se, but a discount plan with one annual fee ($179 for family, $99 for individual), and which would provide immediate coverage, no cap, and vastly reduced fees. Colton's office particip[ates in this plan, but that information was not volunteered to us. I called the office to verify and was told 'yes, it will cost much less.' We returned a month later, after my husband recovered from a cold/cough, for the procedure. The office was as cold and uncomfortable inside as it was outdoors, his office staff behind protective glass as if we were planning to rob them, and were kept waiting a half hour past appointment time as other patients were hustled in and out. The procedure was over and done with in under 30 minutes, the cost was actually $436 vs. $1,190 with our dental discount from Aetna, and there was an additional consultation fee of $36 for the initial meeting we'd had the month before (after a $59 discount from Aetna). I had to ask the office staff to mail me an itemized receipt, since all she handed to my husband was a debit card receipt for his payment at the window. We will not be returning to this office for the dental implant procedure. Being a talented surgeon does not preclude having respect for one's patients' intelligence, time, and finances. We will find another practitioner for construction of the implant. read more

He's cocky as hell. VERY full of himself. A dentist friend confirmed his reputation: "Tim Colton's favorite subject is Tim Colton." That said, I'm not looking to have a beer with him. Yes, he absolutely runs on a "churn and burn" system with no time for coddling or cuddling. in the restaurant business they call this "turning tables." My experience has been that when someone comes to feel that they have little to no competition, they can treat people any way they wish. I felt that his consultation was good and the process was explained thoroughly. My gripe was in the post-op rush out the door. Not 90 seconds after I came to, I was being asked for money. It's a good thing that my mouth was full or else I would have said, "Are you ****ing kidding me?" I literally signed the receipt, "Seriously?" Given my drugged state, I was pretty proud of that! Would I recommend him? Ummmm.......Yes. But I would give someone a heads up as to what to expect (like reading these Yelp opinions). read more

I did not actually get in to see the oral surgeon; the front desk staff were exceedingly rude to me and when they closed the window continued to say demeaning things about me, though I could clearly still hear them with the window closed. It was extremely unprofessional and beyond belief. I walked out and called another oral surgeon. read more

So after reading some of the reviews I felt it was necessary to include my own experience. I had Dr. Colton take out four wisdom teeth, probably about 10 years ago now. My personal preference for doctors/surgeons in general is that I want them full of themselves and Cocky. I'm not looking for a doctor that is going to coddle me; I'm looking for a doctor that knows how good he is and doesn't mind telling you about it. I still remember his promises to me: 1. We aren't going to talk about Dry Socket, because it isn't going to happen. 2. Sometimes people have their jaws broken during wisdom teeth surgery, but that's not going to happen here. If I break your jaw, I'll buy you a new car. Is he cocky? Yes, but I left that consultation with full confidence that I was going to be fine, and nothing was going to go wrong, because he knew what he was doing. read more

NEED TO KNOW Ok when there is a good HONEST TELL IT LIKE IT IS ORAL SURGEON OUT THERE the last thing on my mind is his bed-side manner. I have been in the Heath field for 18 years and the Lovey dovey docs are not the best. I had my four wisdom teeth pulled today and I heard stories from others and they made me nervouse the worst I have felt today is my face and lips and chin being numb. It's really such a shame there are review on here about his personality Yes he's a bit hyper during your consult but it took my anxiety down a notch and I left smiling So agian if you want AN HONEST EXCELLENT SURGEON YOU GO TO DR TIMOTHY COLTON if you want to babied and pampered go some where else your loss I'm very happy my dentist sent me ti him!!!! read more

Dr. Colton is the best surgeon i've ever been too. He completely made me feel at ease, walked me through all we were going to do. He is also the only person to get my vein on the first shot! I don't remember anything about the surgery, but I do know that the staff and Dr. Colton get a huge thumbs up from me! If you don't fit stereotypical guidelines of rich yuppy you'll be treated like an animal. Weird guy seemed annoyed with me for no reason, (very strange impatient demeanor) so he jabs the needle into my gum, after 30 seconds ripped my tooth out before novocaine was even working yet. I was referred to Dr. Colton to have my wisdom teeth removed last year, and I have very mixed feelings about my experience. For my consultation, he rushed through a bunch of information so fast that I couldn't follow anything he said. One thing I somewhat followed was him telling me that my wisdom teeth were close to my nerves, and that nerve damage was possible if I were to remove the wisdom teeth without first traveling to Boston to have x-rays done. However, he sounded so confident that he would be able to perform the procedure without them that I consented. The procedure itself was quick and painless (roughly half an hour). I was told that they do not provide anti-nausea medications with the anesthesia unless the patient has a history of experiencing nausea from anesthesia. Well, after the procedure, I was escorted to their one and only recovery room, where I proceeded to forcefully vomit blood, saliva, and goodness knows what else every two seconds. I was so extremely nauseated by the anesthesia that even turning my head slightly made me vomit. There was no way I could lift myself out of that chair to go home any time soon. Dr. Colton and his assistants kept coming in and out "to see if I was feeling better," which I later found out really meant that they wanted me to leave so that they could bring the next person into the recovery room and keep the line moving. It didn't matter that I was vomiting things I didn't even know I had in me. After feeling pressured to leave, my fiance went and grabbed my coat from the waiting area for me. He later told me that he could hear the staff saying things like "I want to kill myself" because I was taking too long to leave. To add insult to injury, Dr. Colton was not able to successfully remove my wisdom teeth without damaging the nerve. He damaged the nerve, and I could not feel the left side of my jaw for an entire month after. When I went for my follow-up visit, he was completely dismissive and unconcerned that I might not be able to ever feel the left side of my jaw again, even telling me that he performed his daughter's wisdom teeth removal and gave her a numb lip, as if that made it any better. While most of the feeling has come back, nearly a year later as I'm writing this, I still get an occasional tingling numbing sensation on the left side of my chin. He told me nerve damage was possible, but he should not have made himself sound so confident that he could safely perform the procedure without the x-rays. The only pro to this whole disaster was that I did not feel any pain following the procedure. I did not have to take any pain medication and was able to eat fairly normally a couple days after. Was that worth the rude treatment from the staff and potentially permanently losing all feeling in my jaw? Absolutely not. read more

Apparently I am the only one who had problems with Dr. Colton. He is not personable at all! He was recommended by my dentist so I went in for a consultation. He ran through the consultation so quickly it made my head spin. At one point he said he would spend about 30 seconds removing each of my four wisdom teeth. This was a bit alarming, it seems like a very fast procedure, and I'd rather have someone take their time when I am having surgery. Despite the consultation, I decided to go forward, hoping that he would ease my apprehension about his speed when I went in for the surgery. Unfortunately, this operation was one of the worst experiences I have ever had, and I only wish I were exaggerating. I was shown to the dentist chair and the nurses began prepping me. I asked them if I could speak to the doctor before we got started and they assured me that I could. He came into the room, went straight for my arm and tried to put me under. I said, "Doctor, I have a few concerns before we get started-" to which he replied, "It's fine, we discussed everything in your consultation." I said, "Yes, but that is one of my concerns--" and again he said, "It's fine. This will be so fast you won't even know what happened." This went on for a while, with me trying to talk to him, only to be interrupted and disregarded. Here's the problem- my concerns were with him as a surgeon, not with the operation itself. I'm not squeamish, I have no problem getting shots or giving blood or being put under. That was NOT the issue. Had he listened to anything I was saying he would have known that. Instead, he continued to assure me that the surgery would be fine. As he continued to search for my vein to give me the anesthesia, I realized that he was not going to answer my questions. So I pulled my arm away and said, "Stop, wait-," to which he replied, "We are on a tight schedule." At this point, he pulled my arm back, held it down, told me to push my fist into his hip (which I gladly did, a little harder than he intended), and thrust the needle into me. I started to cry. Yes, I actually started crying, and he just left the room. The nurse wiped away my tears and started reassuring me about the procedure, at which point I told her, "I'm not concerned with the procedure, I am furious that I have been ignored this whole time and Dr. Colton refuses to talk to me about my operation." The nurse replied, "Yes, well, he's a surgeon, not a dentist, that's just his personality, but he is a great surgeon." I explained my concerns and she assured me that a quick procedure is actually better because the opening has less time to get infected. Perfect. That was really all that I needed to hear, but Dr. Colton refused to take one minute out of his schedule to tell me that. When it was over Dr. Colton came to the recovery room and said something like, "See, it was just as great as I told you it would be." My memory at this point is a little fuzzy, considering the anesthesia, but I believe I said, "No, it was not great, you--," only to be interrupted again as he talked quickly at my husband and then walked back out of the room. I remember calling him a 'dick' after he left. A different nurse then came in, gave my husband my care instructions, and looked very sincerely at me as she apologized for his behavior. The operation itself was fine, as far as I know. Contrary to others, no one called to check on me. Despite his skill as a surgeon, I would never recommend Dr. Colton. The way that he disregarded me, his patient, was inappropriate and unprofessional, and borderline unethical. There was no way that he could have had any doubt that I did not want to proceed, yet he pulled my arm away from me and physically held me down. After the procedure, when I was still unhappy, he refused to apologize (or even listen to me long enough to realize I wanted an apology). read more

If I could give Dr Colton 6 stars, I would! Our dentist, Dr. Pellegrini highly recommended Dr. Colton. Dr. Pellegrini and I talked about how all oral surgeons are not alike. It is so important to look at their post op infection rates, technique in removal of wisdom teeth, post op directions and support... some of the oral surgeons in this area do not have a great reputation, and it's so important to be careful who you choose!! I am a nurse, and I research any doctor that we are going to see. Pick the oral surgeon that all of the dentists send their own kids to!! Dr Colton thoroughly explained his approach and rationale. Our son had his 4 wisdom teeth out with no complications, minimal pain, swelling, and bruising, and was feeling great within 48 hours. Dr Colton really is great at what he does, and his approach is different from other surgeons, with truly excellent results. I can't recommend him enough!! read more

First of all, i don't have any threshhold for pain but I do not even really recall the actual surgery. GREAT DRUGS. He also has a sweet demeanor and called last night to check in with me. It is so funny to see others have mentioned that Dr. Colton is "cocky"..... is he? Probably but that is what I want for a surgeon! I am not looking for a hand holder and the warm and fuzzy. I've seen Dr. Colton twice. Once to have a drain put in my jaw almost two years ago and more recently for my wisdom teeth and he is wonderful. When I had the drain in my jaw for an infection I was TERRIFIED and the staff made me feel so much better about the whole thing and the fact that i was there every day for a week to have it checked out to make sure the swelling was going down. Hell Dr. Colton was so great he kept telling me my smile got brighter every day so he knew I was feeling better. So when I had to get a tooth extracted after a failed root canal I knew he was who I wanted to see. Plus he agreed to do was wisdom teeth at the same time, two birds one stone (or really 5 birds but whatever). I knew everything was going to be alright because he's a great surgeon and he makes you feel better about the entire situation. And the women at the front desk are amazing. They're always so sweet so when I called in a panic because I literally sneezed out one of my sutures they calmed me down and they called to check up on me. I recommend this office to everyone because I knew they'll have a great experience just like I did. read more

Dr. Helah, DMD (Dr. Coltons partner) was awesome everything you want in an oral surgeon smart, experienced AND great chair side manor. Removed a molar and wisdom tooth on Friday before New Years. Rather than passing me off for weekend coverage he provided his cell number. I've seen a few nightmare "recoveries" from extractions so I was more than a little worried. No pain at all post surgery and minimal swelling. Amazing work Dr. Helah Thank you!!! read more

My 2 boys had all their wisdom teeth removed a few weeks ago. We were in and out of the office in a little over an hour. Dr. Colton knows what he's doing and he is the BEST at what he does. Neither of my boys needed any pain medication afterwards, despite having impactions, and they were eating normally in 2 days. The staff was kind and caring, and one of Dr. Colton's assistants helped me to my car with my sons! I can't say enough. Thank you Dr. Colton and team for an amazing experience!!! read more

I had Dr. Colton for my daughter, and for myself because I was told he's the best in the area. Technically, that may be true, but I remember as the reviews state, he is very much full of himself, and my daughter had problems with a hole from her sinus into her mouth, and he was unempathetic to her problem and her pain, although it resolved itself. I also experienced the alarming "pay up" treatment as I left the office. As others have said, the nice doctors are not always the best. read more

I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth extracted this morning and I was up and moving around by noon. I was in and out of the office this morning in less than 45 minutes and have experienced much less pain than expected. Dr. Colton is very personable and thorough in his consultation prior to my surgery and I felt very confident after our first meeting together. He even called to check in on me this evening- you don't hear of that anymore! I had a very small spot on mu tongue that my dentist thought should be biopsied. Well it was the worst thing I ever did. Colten took a huge chunk out of the tip of my tongue, he left the stitches in too long and it got infected and I have nerve damage and he tried to blame me for not taking the stitches out myself. Does he not know the anatomy of the mouth where the nerves are???? read more

I had a dreadful experience with Dr. Colton. He may be ok technically but his treatment of people is awful. He made rude and insulting comments about my daughter's orthodontic work without knowing she had a medical condition that created an under bite. Making a teenage girl self conscious about her appearance is inexcusable. My daughter was very sick following the removal of her wisdom teeth and we were rushed out the door to make room for his next patient. An hour after we were home the office called. I assumed to check on how my daughter was feeling but instead they yelled at me for leaving without making a follow up appointment. No reason to treat people in a rude and obnoxious manner. read more
