The star of the show for me. Bagel, loxs and cream cheese.

This spot was good. We went for brunch, it was jam packed, and it's a pretty big spot. There was another party of six in front of us, and we still got seated pretty quickly. Or did it just seem that way because the host, I'm assuming he was the owner, was so cool and friendly. Making jokes, light conversation and making the kids laugh. The food was good, I got the Benedict, classic of course. But it wasn't very good. The slice of ham was very small, the egg was over cooked (a sin), the bread was toast not English muffin (another sin), but the hollandaise was pretty good, and so were the potatoes (they serve a hot sauce on the side which seemed like tabasco and lemon juice, very good with these potatoes) But the rest of meals were very good. The breakfast sandwich was large and in charge. The bagel, loxs and cream cheese plate came with some tasty tomatoes and capers. Excellent! Overall the food was good but the greeting by the host was spectacular. The place was crazy busy but we got our food pretty quick. Everyone was happy

Situated in NDG, this little breakfast/brunch place has its charm. Their terrasse is very nice on nice summer morning; just sitting outside tanning and people watching is a great way to spend your morning on a day off. I ordered their Uber Health salad (I know the name might seems weird) and it tastes really good. The portion is huge first and foremost. The salad is fresh, the nice mix of fruitiness and nutty taste makes this salad very balanced and fulfilling. The prices are reasonable, the waitress was very nice to us even though we were sitting outside, she kept checking on us and filling up our water. Overall, NDG always has this special little place in my heart and this little brunch restaurant doesn't really pop out but it certainly doesn't disappoint.

Good reliable brunch place in NDG. The exterior is deceptive, it's very nondescript, you'd walk past it a dozen times and never think to go in. Inside though it's a fairly large space with cute photos of the neighbourhood on the walls, playing up the "orange" in the cafe's name. They have a nice broad brunch menu, with lots of smoothies, egg options and the usual pancake and waffles. I had the veggie omelette which came with toast and a generous helping of home fries which were very good, came with lots of big chunks of onion and bell pepper mixed in. Portions are big but not overwhelmingly so. Coffee is decent and refills are prompt. Service is efficient and friendly. There's usually a lineup on weekends starting around 11, so get there early. If you are stuck waiting, you can always go for a browse at the used bookstore next door!

This place is getting 3 stars for the nice decor and general comfort, not the food which I would only give 2 stars. We just left after going for the first time although we've lived in the area for a decade. I ordered their classic eggs benedict ($11.95), he had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant (early bird special $9.95). When the food came, it looked very nice. Potatoes are actually real, not frozen. Pink grapefruit slices are a nice touch instead of the traditional slice of tomato or orange that are generally on the side of a breakfast plate. Here's where everything went south. I don't know what mix they use for hollandaise sauce (which is already a travesty in my book - if you aren't going to make real hollandaise, you're cheap and lazy) but it was absolutely tasteless. My benedict was not on English muffins, it was on slices of fried French bread. The potatoes.....I kept trying to figure out why they tasted old, dry and of absolutely nothing. How on earth did you screw up potatoes? No salt or pepper - they had colour on them, but my guess is that they had made a huge batch earlier in the morning and had been sitting in the oven for hours. The only nice thing about them was that they are cooked with red peppers and onions - they were the only thing with flavour on the plates besides the pink grapefruit slice. His meal.....he was eating very slowly, so I asked him how it was. He said, "In one word.....overdone." The croissant was not fresh and was so toasted that it was dry and crumbling in his mouth. The bacon was so hard he said it was beef jerky. The cheese was a gross Kraft single which was still cold. This got me curious.....I tasted everything on his plate and he was absolutely right.....dry, overcooked, tasteless. When we left, he said, "That was the worst sandwich I can remember having. It would have been better microwaved!" I wanted to like it, I really did. It's lovely inside, the service was fine.....I would just not go back or recommend it to anyone.

So many rave reviews but I was far from impressed by this place. We ordered a few breakfasts, I got my usual eggs benedict because who wants to make their own hollandaise? I was confused as to why they used regular white bread(they call it "grilled Parisian bread on the menu but is bs) as their benedict bottom, didn't really hold up well to the mountain of hollandaise. The sauce itself wasn't very good, spicy, for some strange reason and kind of bland otherwise. Like they accidentally dumped on some cayenne and just decided to live with it. One friend had ordered the creamed egg and ate only a few bites because she did not enjoy it. Another had one of their omelettes, western I believe, which was more of an egg scramble with chunks of veggies, nothing special but passable. And finally someone had their larger breakfast (eggs, meat, pancake, hashbrowns etc) which was fine. Their hashbrowns were good though! Wasn't too busy, or overly clean, just a regular diner feel with Anglo service. Just another lower quality Montréal institution. People, please, there is better food out there and we have to strive to find it instead of just accepting so much mediocre stuff around the city.

I went there for the first time, it is a much more local spot, rather than a attraction. The atmosphere and decor of it, was pretty cozy and warm. There's nice framed photographs on the wall of the seats. And on the more "bar" side of it, there's a chalkboard with neon writing. Theres also 3 TVs spread across the room. I got the "Fill me up" early bird , while my sister and cousin got the breakfast sandwich and my dad got the 2 eggs. The food was okay, not over the top, but not bad either. The eggs were runny :) bacon soft and crisp, but not overcooked, ordinary french toast and pancake. The best of the plate would be the potatoes, which came with green and red pepper slices and onion slices. Maybe just the fact that the number of orange slices are inconsistent as some plates got 2 slices while others got 4. For the other meals, the bread came in a basket with some peanut butter and jam.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. We learned from the Two Gay Expats on YouTube that this was the place to try based on the charismatic chef Michael Tozzi and his renowned ricotta pancakes. Jamie W and I got here late on a weekday morning. Sure enough there was a queue. Dame fortune must've smiled upon us because we moved to the head of the line as a party of two. Even though the threat of rain hung over us, we were seated in the front parklet and quite happily since the dining room inside looked packed. We started with a couple of C$6.25 Iced Maple Lattes because it felt like the Canadian thing to do. They provided a welcome caramel-like sweetness to our refreshment (Photo 9). Jamie was more conscientious about his entree and ordered the C$26.99 Crunchy Sesame Chicken Salad, quite a mound of delights: romaine, cabbage, carrot, celery, shredded chicken breast, cashews, cilantro, fried wontons, and sesame chicken (Photo 8). Both the textures and flavors meshed really well together. Of course you can guess what I ordered, the C$27 Ricotta Pancakes with brown butter maple sauce, lemon cream, and Quebec strawberries (Photo 10). Light and nicely aerated, the fluffy ricotta pancakes absorbed all the complimentary flavors really well. Dandy was indeed dandy. I went a long time ago, back in 2021, and I was so happy to have gone again since they relocated to Old Montreal. The exterior is this new building, but inside, it feels like you're in an old building with rustic textures and colours. The ambiance is so lovely and it truly is the best place for delicious brunch items and taking cute pictures too! My friends and I visited on a Saturday morning without reservations, but we went relatively earlier. We were seated right away for a table of 4 and were served teas and coffee. I ordered the Bone Marrow & Duck Confit which consisted of a country-style bread, duck poached egg, bone marrow, confict duck leg, manchego shavings, herb salted crumble and green peas. It's a massive dish and honestly everything tasted amazing all together. The bone marrow was perfectly cooked and the duck poached egg meld everything together. They also give you another bowl so you can put the marrow once you're done eating it. The bread was needed to soak up every part of this delicious dish. Other items ordered was the Foie Gras (Chef's specialty) which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, caramelized onion compote and crispy proscuitto chips. The chips were a wonderful item to pair with the seared foie gras. The foie gras was perfectly cooked. The Rustic is another fan favourite which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, sautéed mushrooms. pulled pork, potatoes and argula sprouts. it is such a beautiful dish - nice colours, many ingredients and placed well on the plate; not to mention it was so good too! The last item was the Croque Monsieur which has country-style bread, maple-glaed Gaspor acon, confit tomatoes, cheddar, duck sunny side-up egg on an endive salad. You can't pick it up and munch on it, so you know how big this must have been! Even cut into pieces, it requires some maneuvering to munch on it. Great place for brunch. Awesome service too. The servers were bilingual in French and English, and they were kind, attentive, and made the whole experience smooth from start to finish. My goal was to eat as much foe grais as I can on this trip so I ordered the Foie Gras Poached Eggs. OMG starting off with the bread that was on the bottom, it was so soft and fluffy. Literally melted in my mouth. The foie gras had a beautiful sear and was rich and silky, with a texture that honestly reminded me of ice cream. There was also a touch of sweetness in the sauce that cut through the richness in the best way. Every bite was perfectly balanced.
