This place is such a vibe. I loved it! Great location, incredible & unique breakfast choices, and some really good people working. Generous portions but absolutely delicious.

We stayed near this restaurant in Montreal. We are vegetarians, hubby lacto-ovo, and I tend closer to vegan, a little dairy in my diet. Looking for breakfast on a Friday morning. Glad it was open by 9 when we were hungry. My husband is a real aficionado of Eggs Benedict, and it looked like I'd find food here too. I went in with medium to low expectations for myself, high for him. We both had a marvelous meal! He loved his Benedict, and I loved my açaí bowl. We both had the potato wedges, he had them with Parmesan-truffle--which he really loved. There were good juice blends and smoothies, good coffees, plain and fancy, mine had almond milk--and the cost was reasonable for all we had. Service very friendly. The vibe was family-friendly, very clean and bright inside. We would go again!

Nice cute restaurant with a cozy feel. My mini goumard was more than enough food. Crepe was delicious.

You get what you deserve here. The food is okay for breakfast, but I felt like I was used like a wet dishrag. I enjoyed my breakfast as it is well priced and for the most part pretty good (the milkshake is a disaster here), but I feel like I was only used for cash. My server was overly flirtatious and I feel put me at a disadvantage most of my visit. She was trying to squeeze a lot of cash out of me and really gunning for that big buck of cash. I sensed it, and know one thing. Pay the bill first, if the tip suffers, so be it. The tip did suffer. When I left her my tip, she scowled in front of me and said "Have a good day.", grabbed the money, and ran back towards the kitchen window. I will not be had like that and will not recommend.

Listen. I love croissants and bagels and baguettes as much as the next person but to me those are "walking around snacks" not breakfast. It took me some time to find the filling fare I was after but once my husband said he wanted "real food - like French toast" (he literally NEVER wants French toast) I knew I had to make it happen. This spot was so cute and highly rated. We got there just in time as I was able to snag the last plus-size friendly bench seating and the hordes that came about 20 minutes after us and had to wait a while. I got a 3 cheese omelette with sausage, potatoes, toast and a side of French toast. Hubs got eggs, potatoes, French toast and kicked it off with a milkshake. Love that for him. All of it - fantastic! 20/10 would do again today if I could teleport.

Decide to walk the 10 minutes from our hotel to this breakfast spot. We arrived about 10:45am and there was a slight wait to be seated. I was looking forward to the breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu. We ordered our food and beverages and then waited. It did take a long time for our drinks to come and then when we did they forgot my husbands cortado. When they brought it there was no milk in it. The food overall was fine. My husband enjoyed his Benedict but my breakfast could have been better. My eggs were over hard and the berries in my fruit bowl were past their prime. It was very busy and the staff was doing their best. It was fine but not the breakfast I was hoping for. I think there are some better options if you're willing to go a little further out but it's not a bad choice especially if you have people with varying palettes.

I decided to check this spot out while I was in Montreal, and I am so glad I did! For a brunch spot, our group of 6 was seated fairly quickly. The service was good, and our food was brought over in a timely manner. I tried the Patati "Sao Part Sur Le Patty", which was pretty good overall. There was a good balance of potatoes and veggies in the dish, with the hot sauce given on the side adding a much needed kick. I also got a coffee on the side for $1, which was great. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a solid brunch spot in DT Montreal.

There is a Russian saying: "You don't need mustard with good meat." (Mustard, because ketchup and BBQ sauce didn't exist.) Not that there's anything wrong with using condiments to your heart's content, only that a dish should be able to stand on its own. Anyways... I'm on Yelp looking for breakfast, and I see the words "Breakfast Poutine" and am immediately sold. When in Montreal, am I right? I ordered the breakfast poutine with pulled smoked meat. I liked the fries; these resembled smaller and much thinner steak fries and were pleasantly seasoned. The hollandaise was mild, had very slight acidity, solid savory notes, and was surprisingly thick! It seemed more like a blanket than a sauce, which might partly explain why it didn't do the best job soaking into the cheese curds. When it comes to protein, while I liked the flavor and found it tender, I would have liked more than a light sprinkling on top. Where the "mustard" comes in: while the flavors were nothing to complain about, they were all so mild that the plate needed something extra to add some impact. There was hot sauce available, though I believe a meal should stand on its own first. Not a significant deal, more a matter of taste. Finally, I was to give a couple shout-outs. The service was friendly, quick, and attentive. I was also very fond of the bottomless coffee only costing CAD 1.00! That's not something you see every day or even every month. As for the plate itself, the portion size was large enough that I couldn't finish, even with my voracious appetite! Thus, it was a solid breakfast poutine with the right flavors but was a tad dull. Sometimes mild flavors get the job done, but something needed to be added here. However, on the flip side is an excellent value, substantial portion, and friendly service

We were sat quickly, but everything from that point slowed wayyyy down. Took a long time to take our order. Drinks took awhile to come out as we waited for coffee that you think would come rather quickly. Then our entrees really were delayed. Especially as we saw 3 other tables that were seated after us all get this food way before ours made their way out. We had asked for water refills, additional condiments, and napkins... all never came. It was really frustrating and such a long meal for no reason. We felt like the forgotten table. The food was fine, but not worth these extremely long ways for each aspect of our dine.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

While the restaurant is highly celebrated and located within a Michelin-recognized hotel building, it does not hold a Michelin star of its own. But it is extremely classy. We decided to do lunch instead of dinner and it was a little more our speed, but if very, very attentive waitstaff is not your thing and $200 for lunch I'd skip this spot. We went because it had reviews for amazing beef Wellington and my husband hadn't had any in decades. And we were on vacation so let's go! The food was beautifully plated and service was impeccable inside of an amazingly decorated dining room that looked like a library in a mansion. The meals themselves weren't obscenely expensive but add a glass a wine, bread (it was not included) and coffee and it put us close to $200. But it was a great experience and I had never had beef Wellington - it was melt in your mouth good. Might go again next time we come up from CT.

The server seated us without warning, and when we went to order, each item we requested had run out. No Cuban, no chicken melt, no several other delicious sounding things. She gave us 10 more minutes to look over the menu and come up with a plan B. Truthfully I wanted to jump ship, but couldn't because our drink orders were already in, and I was captain of this gastronomic journey. We'd set sail without proper forecasting! We settled on the baked egg and salmon bowl, neither what we were exactly craving. The baked egg was fairly tasty, a shakshouka-esque experience accompanied by rustic bread for hasty dipping. The salmon bowl was excellent, with delicious dressing, but the salmon portion was oh-so-meager. It made me wonder if the lunch rush had given the kitchen such a beating that they had split my salmon filet in half and served it to me and my neighboring table friend. Check out my photo and tell me if that portion seems right? The lore says Michael Jordan worked his rear off every game because he always told himself there was probably at least one kid in the stands who came there to see THE Michael Jordan. Well this kid in the stands caught Olive et Gourmando taking the night off. There is a risk for peril if you choose this restaurant, especially if you are in Montréal for a limited time!

My goal was to eat as much foe grais as I can on this trip so I ordered the Foie Gras Poached Eggs. OMG starting off with the bread that was on the bottom, it was so soft and fluffy. Literally melted in my mouth. The foie gras had a beautiful sear and was rich and silky, with a texture that honestly reminded me of ice cream. There was also a touch of sweetness in the sauce that cut through the richness in the best way. Every bite was perfectly balanced.
