We arrived before the lunch rush, so we were seated right away in the cute outdoor dining section for brunch. The service was great and so was the food! The Fried Chicken Sandwich was HUGE and the pancakes were soft and fluffy! Will return on our next visit to Montréal! This place is a must if staying within walking distance, otherwise parking, like most of Montréal, is tough.
If you come here on a weekend for brunch, make sure you go early...there may be a line. After waiting to be seated, there was also a little wait to be served. I'm not a big fan of spending a lot for breakfast, but the food was good and coffee was delicious. It's a nice small space. A bit loud during brunch when it's filled up, but cozy.

The portions were huge and the mushroom toast was one of the best brunch meals I've had in a long time. A variety of mushrooms along with delicious whipped feta , this meal was the perfect way to kick off our visit to Montreal! They also have a lovely array of coffee drinks as well.
Cute little place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. Three of us went for lunch, and were quickly seated. Generally though there is a line out the door ( unpleasant in the winter!). We had the mushroom toast which was large, loaded with a melange of mushrooms on top of (sourdough?) bread layered with whipped feta. The bread would have been better if it was toasted. As it was, it was difficult to cut with a knife without destroying the layers. The taste was great. One of us had the pancakes which were large, thick, and fluffy. They tasted delicious though, again, the dish was too big for one person to finish. The third person in our group just had a "side" of roasted fingerling potatoes which turned out to be substantial too. All in all a good experience with friendly service and a casual ambiance.
We came on a Sunday around 10:20 AM, and there was already a line forming. Luckily, we were able to wait inside since it was snowing outside. Just a heads up, there's no waitlist system, so you can't put your name down and leave. However the waiter was super kind and let us order a to-go drink while we waited, which made the 45-minute line a lot more bearable. The interior was really cute, I loved the arch-shaped walls and the warm lighting, and the pops of color around. What we ordered: * Mushroom Toast - One of the best I've had. The shoestring onions added a great crunch, the mushrooms paired so nicely with the goat cheese, and there was tons of umami. * Ricotta Pancake - I got the seasonal one with pistachio cream and raspberries and loved it. Just the right amount of sweetness and the pancake wasn't too dense. Overall, I was very satisfied with the food. I'm not sure I'd want to wait this long again so early in the morning, but I'm really glad I got to try it during my trip to Montréal.
Two words: RICOTTA PANCAKES! There is a reason you will see most everyone enjoying them for brunch. The fluffy pancakes are made with ricotta cheese in the batter which makes them a bit more dense while staying fluffy. They are laid in pool of BROWN BUTTER MAPLE SYRUP, and here is the unexpected kicker that absolutely makes the dish: Lemon Cream, which I believe is a whipped cream with lemon zest and/or juice. The citrus cream really cuts the rich and sweet maple butter. The pairing is truly genius! You can add strawberries to the order, which I did not do. I didn't taste it but expect the strawberries would overpower the lemon cream pairing with the maple butter. They have an extensive coffee menu. Their Aluhjay, the traditional Montreal long-pull espresso was fantastic. I enjoyed mine black to fully savor the flavors of the coffee. This is a popular place, especially on weekends. I came on a Sunday 30m before opening and there was already a line. They filled up fast. They don't take reservations so recommend coming early or on weekday to avoid a line. Service was prompt and friendly, especially given the big rush as they opened. They have wonderful indoor atmosphere or you can enjoy beautiful outdoor seating.
This is a must stop brunch spot in old Montreal. My husband even stated the crispy fried chicken was one of the best he's ever had - juicy and crispy. Our kids loved all the breakfast options and the menu isn't overwhelming. They use season ingredients which makes everything taste so fresh and delicious. Staff are super polite and speak English. Very tourist friendly. It has a nice upscale diner vibe with a cool bar too.
Dandy in downtown Montreal is an excellent place to have breakfast and brunch. It is situated at Rue Saint Jacques where most tourists hangout thus making it a bit tough to be seated. The staff were great, very efficient and most specially friendly. The interior is elegant and cozy, well designed and planned. Very nice dining area. Their Salmon Toast is phenomenal, a smoked salmon on a thick slice on house bread with poached eggs, whipped black garlic cream cheese, green beans and arugula, herbed vinaigrette and smoked paprika oil. This is perfectly matched with an ice tea and a coffee. This is an highly recommended restaurant and will definitely have breakfast here when I visit Montréal in the near future.
Had a great brunch at Dandy, food was amazing. We had the ricotta pancakes tropical version and the endless summer breakfast, both were very delicious. Service was great, very lively atmosphere. Highly recommend this place, arrive early because there's a line before they open.
My husband and I had breakfast here today and it was easy to get a table when they opened at 10am on a Monday (we tried at 11:30am Sunday and it was too crowded). I liked the ricotta pancakes with lemon cream and he liked the fried chicken and egg sandwich. They service was great-so many friendly employees. A nice spot for breakfast.
We had a lovely breakfast here this morning, it's a Saturday and there was a line. Join the line, the Hostess will come to you. There are a couple steps to get inside (or sit outside in the nice weather). Bathrooms are inside down a flight of stairs. Staff were efficient and friendly, and spoke English & French. This is not your traditional breakfast, so if you are looking for American omelette and such you will not find it. Short menu and all items crafted well. Hubby had tea and sausage rolls. He enjoyed them. He let me have some mustard (I love mustard) and it was delicious! I ordered the sunshine breakfast with an extra egg. I love having all the food together - the flavor of the tzatziki blended with the veggies and the eggs and the avocado and soaked into the bread. It was amazing! There is a giant sourdough toast under everything which was a little difficult to cut, but worth it! We will definitely stop back when in the area!
Long wait but so worth it. Great service!!! Ricotta pancakes are a must order. So cute in the inside. The eggs were really good too. Lots of fun coffee specials.
The best fried chicken sandwich of my life (as someone who lives in the southeast US, that's a big statement). The chimichurri mayo , apple slaw, and super crispy chicken were utter perfection. Seriously, you have to try this place no matter the wait. Also had the ricotta pancakes - light airy and fluffy with an addicting brown butter syrup. The lemon cream was a perfect light compliment. Also one of the best pancake dishes I've ever had. Lastly the extras... chai tea latte, fresh OJ, and even the chocolate chip cookie (which has candied pecans inside!) were top notch. Not saying I would fly to Montreal just to eat here, but I would fly to Montreal just to eat here.

The food here is really good and restaurant is very popular. There was a line here when I got here around 9:55am and still a long line when I left. I got in 10ish minutes and was the first 30 people. If you were part of the first wave of customer to sit down, be aware that food could take a long time for it to come out. I was part of the first 20-30 tables and food might have took 40 minutes. The food was worth it especially the pan cakes. read more
Brunch'd at Dandy Restaurant when I was in Montréal and it did not disappoint. I saw someone post this spot on IG, so I had to visit and try out the Ricotta Fraises pancakes. These are def not your usual American style pancakes, but I really enjoyed it and the strawberries were fresh and tasted like real fruit. I paired it was crispy bacon and a spritz. This place has nice vibes and very cutely designed. The service was great. We had such an amazing waiter - down to earth and friendly. It gets busy as it seems to be a very popular spot in Old Montréal. Worth the visit! read more

Came here to start the Montreal trip. The potatoes were worth the order as they were like mini baked potatoes that were deep fried to taste like French fries. The interior is tight and staff friendly. The pancakes had good fluff to them and right amount of sweetness. The chicken was more batter than chicken unfortunately. We were in between sessions at a medical conference at the local convention center, and we wondered by this very charming appearing lunch spot that we knew we had to try out. I tried the fried chicken sandwich with the fried egg on top, in my head, their robust, lunch special for incredibly delicious and fresh. I left full, but not uncomfortable. We sat outside in their charming little patio, and got to embrace the really cool architecture of old Montreal. Incredibly kind service, and I will definitely come back. read more

Look for the red lower case text on the window only. The glass entrance is just inside of the doors. The lemon ricotta pancakes look good. It's a narrow dining area. Seats to the booth are narrow, especially with winter down coats on. Or maybe we gained some weight this trip from all of the pastries and carbs? Some pastry at the cafe counter. Long dining area, small menu. Ordered oat milk latte, ricotta pancakes with added garnish, apples, mascarpone and pecans, granola, buttermilk fried chix sandwich and zesty salad. C$95.40 The ricotta pancake isn't bad, sweetness overload, but expected with all that's going on. The zesty salad is okay, quite a bit of textures and flavors, not sure it's what I was hoping for as far as zesty goes. Wasn't super excited to eat it after a bite or two, not so much. The plate had a chip on it. :/ The Chix sandwich was good, the chicken was crunchy, had to take one layer of chicken off of it to actually be able to bite into the sandwich though. I liked the apple remoulade and the chimichurri sauce. The chicken was nice and tender. The fried egg was a nice addition to the sandwich. Service was good during our visit. read more
My favourite meal in Montréal emanates from trendy Dandy, an eatery in historic Old Montréal. The endless summer is absolutely phenomenal, and the chai latte as well. My companion had the granola, which was equally wonderful! Loved the beautiful building, the nicely appointed interior and attentive service. An absolutely marvelous restaurant experience. read more

After hearing nonstop recommendations from my family, I finally got to try Dandy's in Montreal, and wow -- it lived up to the hype! I've been wanting to visit for years, and their ricotta pancakes absolutely blew me away. So fluffy, soft, and perfectly buttery -- and that maple syrup has a rich flavor with something extra I can't quite describe. Easily a 5/5 dish! I also ordered the buttermilk fried chix sandwich -- juicy and crispy with a huge piece of chicken (a solid 4/5). The smashed fingerling potatoes were flavorful but a bit too buttery for me (3.5/5). For drinks, we tried the limited tiramisu iced latte, which was just okay (3/5) -- not bad, just not special. We had to wait for an hour and half in queue from 11:15am to 12:45pm just to get seating because of how busy they were. But the space itself is bright, modern, and super aesthetic, though it does get very loud during peak hours, especially on weekends. Once the rush passes, it's much more relaxed. Overall, Dandy's deserves the praise -- I'll definitely be back for those iconic pancakes! read more

Awesome brunch spot in Montreal... would definitely come here again, whenever back in town. Food: Mushroom Toast - 5/5 I ordered the mushroom toast, and everyone at my table looked at it with admiration as it arrived at the table. Did I share a few bites? Yes... but did I want to? No. Just kidding, but it really is that good if you like mushrooms.. don't think twice! Pancakes - 4/5 - I really liked these, but I did think these were a little overhyped, wouldn't necessarily get it again with the mushroom toast as a different option on the menu.. the party I was with did all really like them though. Service - 5/5 - The waiter we had, I believe an Indian man, was so patient and helpful. Our table was quite rowdy in the restaurant, ordering shots during brunch and being loud, but he was so patient, kind, and helpful... hats off to this guy for dealing with all of us, haha. Ambiance - 4/5 - Nice atmosphere, and we got a round table, which was nice because we were all able to face each other and chat... it actually made a big difference, because I was meeting some people for the first time here, and I noticed that key difference with ease of socializing. Who knew that this brunch spot was so popular? My party of 7 got here bright and early, but there was already a line around the block! The wait took a while, but the food was really good. Several people in my group decided on the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and really liked it. Though I didn't taste it, I was drooling at how good it looked with the fried egg and runny yolk. I enjoyed my pasta; the shape of the noodles is pretty uncommon, and it was so saucy. The amount of greens in the dish made me feel healthy. The table got the ricotta pancakes and fingerling potatoes to share. The potatoes were just ok but the pancakes were yum. The interior is also really beautiful. read more

We came as a group of four and sampled each other's dishes. Arrived Thursday at 9:50am, first seated, no line. Calm ambience and friendly service. We tried the classic and seasonal pancakes, bacon, fingerling potatoes, the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with an egg, and the tiramisu coffee -- the highlight for sure. Get the seasonal pancakes way more flavor. Bacon was perfectly salty and crisp. Potatoes were soft and delicious, and the garlic aioli is strong but really good. The chicken sandwich was just okay, tasty but nothing special. Overall, solid breakfast spot with great service and that tiramisu coffee is a must try if it's available. read more

Food is incredible! The chef's creations are like no other. Cozy atmosphere inside or out. The tomato cucumber salad is a special recipe you will love and want more. They make their own delicious bread & desserts too. We came for breakfast 2 days in a row while on vacation. Go early, it is a popular place and limited seating. friendly and attentive staff. read more
My friend and I came here for breakfast last weekend. We showed up about 5 minutes after it opened. We were seated and served quickly which was nice. The place was busy but the servers were attentive. Our food was good and reasonably priced. Only thing I would say is that there was quite a long line outside when we were leaving, and while the food was good I wouldn't say it is worth waiting more than 20 minutes for. read more

We've come back time and time again here. The pancakes are tasteful and filling. The menu is limited so not many options so I recommend taking a look before coming here. The potato wedges are really good and the drinks are delicious. Parking is street parking it's not too bad but the link does get long right before they open but they are efficient with getting people in and out. Service is great and food comes out quick. read more
Such a cute brunch spot! Expect long waits, especially on weekends! The Ricotta Pancakes with Seasonal Strawberries is a must. One of the best pancake dishes i've ever had! I wish I could buy bottles of their brown butter maple syrup. Service is very slow though, my friend and I went in very hungry so maybe that skewed our perception of time but we waited a LONG time for a server to come to us, take our order, get our food, and take our check so just plan for a long morning. read more
