I underwent a 10-day Panchakarma program in January, 2019 that was life-changing. The Panchakarma program is an amazing experience, facilitated for me by Dr. Ajita Patel and her assistant Deva Tanner, that takes one on a journey of healing and wonder. The Ayurvedic food Ajita prepared daily for me to address my specific physical and emotional needs and intentions was incredible and filled with care and love in every bite. The body treatments allowed me to let go of the pain in my body as well as emotional loss. With daily professional and caring massage, I was able to experience what it means to surrender to living right here in this moment, which is the way I want to live my life. I recommend working with both a female and a male practitioner for the body treatments, as the synchronicity of both male and female energies I experienced with Ajita and Deva aided in my healing process. The four-hands massage (offered expertly by a male and a female therapist) and the warm oil treatment poured over the third eye area on the forehead is something akin to heaven. The advice and information Deva gave me on my pulse readings and dosha constitution continue to help me make wise decisions about diet, exercise, and spiritual practices that help me live a healthy, love-filled life. The pranayama (breathing) and journaling exercises, the amazing yoga classes taught on-site at the Sanctuary Yoga Studio, and the wise and intuitive guidance offered to me by Ajita made my stay at Niramaya Ayurveda completely fulfilling. I stayed 2 weeks after completing the program to continue daily yoga and other meaningful classes available through the studio. Through this 10-day program, I was able to get off two prescription medications for acid reflux and anxiety. Since completing the program and continuing the healthy lifestyle practices I learned, I am no longer pre-diabetic and no longer require the hypothyroid medication my medical doctor prescribed right before I began the program. It is important to commit to as long a time period as you can - at least the full 10 days to reap similar benefits; 2-3 days is just not long enough to cleanse and change unhealthy habits. Finally, as I continue to be challenged with living in an often frantic world of stress and noise, both Ajita and Deva stay in touch with me to encourage and keep me on track. I am a single, retired woman on a fixed income and this is one of the best financial investments I have ever made - the gift of surrendering to love.
