First time at this optometrist. First of all, the young lady who made my appointment was EXTREMELY PLEASANT. The visit was very smooth and quick. The doctor was was patient (he saw both of my children-13 &7). He was very patient and informative throughout the exam. Finally, the young lady was very friendly with my daughter when selecting her eyewear. The staff here are amazing and they have an amazing collection of eyewear. This office is very pretty but the staff is lacking. Dr. Swearingen was amazing and I have nothing bad to say about him. But the staff tried to upsell me on a retinal scan and didn't know their products. My insurance partially covers retinal scans, but it will be an additional $40 co-pay. I'm 22 with no eye diseases, that scan is completely unnecessary for healthy eyes. Even asked Dr. Swearingen about it and he confirmed that I didn't need it. It was just a ploy to bill my insurance more and making me pay more. So I am extremely unhappy with the protocol here. After my exam, I went to see an optician to pick out a frame. I asked for asian fit since I need glasses that have more nose support so they don't rest on my cheeks. The optician had no idea what I meant and told me to just try some on. Why would I waste mine and the optician's time if I know what I want? I booked it out quickly because the staff is completely lacking. Loved the doctor, but the protocol and training of this optometry office needs improvement. read more

I have been a patient here for about 3 years, perhaps 4. The last 2 years I have experienced a HUGE problem dealing with the office staff. My daughter requested her perscription in order to shop around for eyewear-the perscription was not forth coming. It would have been easier to start over with another office however my insurance would not cover it. I don't think she was able to obtain the perscription however I could be wrong. Today is was my turn to ask for my perscription & not be able to get it. My perscription became a year old in June, 2014. I was informed that I could not get a replacement contact lense even though it had cracked (hard lenses) & I could see out of only one eye. No matter, I was not legally entitled to have a replacement lense without going into the office. I was not leagally entitled to my perscription. I was not legally entitled to MY OWN medical records. This review is for the office staff only. If & when you are able to see the actual doctor, the care & professionalism is great. Good luck getting past he office staff. read more

I absolutely love this place! I have been coming here since I was five years old. Dr.Augastine is my doctor and I always look forward to our visits because she always takes the time to talk with me. Jacqueline at the front desk is always such a pleasure as well. The whole office staff is very kind and welcoming. This last time around Michelle helped me pick out my new favorite pair of eyeglasses. I was indecisive with which pair to buy and Michael helped me decide and was very helpful. Contact lense fitting fees are the biggest scam unless you're going in for contact lenses for the first time. Unfortunately, contact lense prescriptions are only good for one year, so having to pay this ridiculous fee is part of the contact lens experience. Went to this place for the first time because it was near my work and they charged me $60 for the doctor to hand me a pair of contact lenses that I already knew would work and have me look at the wall for 30 seconds. I've never been charged more than $30, which is more than enough for what literally takes 30 seconds. I inquired with the lady who was helping me check out, but she pointed to my vision insurance and said they could charge me "up to" $60 for the contact lense fitting. They took full advantage of that and charged me the max when they could've clearly charge me less. I don't normally leave reviews, but this ridiculous practice won't stop unless people complain. read more

This was my first visit today with Dr. Sweaingen and believe me when I say he is the best! I was recommended to him and I am so happy I was because my experience was beyond amazing! I enjoyed my visit from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. The lady who greeted me was so nice and pleasant to talk to. She gave me information about my doctor since I was new there. Very professional! Everyone you come across! The main thing I enjoyed the most is that Dr. Sweaingen doesn't stay silent like how most doctors do. The Staff is friendly and prompt and rarely is there any wait if I have an appointment. The customer service received directly from Dr Swearingen was amazing; above and beyond. While traveling on a Sunday from northern California to Anaheim our friend got a piece of metal debris in his eye. By mid-morning his eye was almost swollen shut, red and extremely painful. We stopped at a small hospital emergency department. They did what they could and provided several eye drops and instructed us if the eye was no better to see an eye doctor. By that afternoon his eye felt no better, perhaps worse. Searching the internet for an eye doctor we found Dr Swearingen and his group. We called Dr Swearingen as instructed for emergencies and left a message. He called us back a short while later. He was out of town but expected to be back by 7 pm; again this was a Sunday. After explaining & discussing the situation; Dr Swearingen offered to meet us at his office at 8 pm or our friend could go to a larger Anaheim emergency room for further more definitive evaluation. We opted to go to the ER rather than wait until 8 pm. Even though we opted not to meet Dr Swearingen that evening, he called us several times to check on my friends eye status and told us if his eye was not better by the morning to call him and he would meet us at his office at 8 am before the practice opened so we would not have to wait or make an appointment. The next morning Dr Swearingen yet again contacted us to check on our friend and see if we needed to come in. Thankfully his eye was beginning to improve. But WOW! What tremendous customer service to people who are not his patients and do not even live in the area so will not become future patients. Just good old fashion great patient care and compassion! I wish all healthcare providers were as considerate and responsive! read more
