I've been going here for over a decade and new owners just bought the place. They remodeled it to make it look all fancy, but the staff is not as nice and friendly as before. They expect you to understand your insurance. The new owners raised their prices and are a lot higher than other places. I am extremely disappointed because I used to love it here, until my last experience. The new office manager is also extremely rude and has no patience answering questions. I will no longer be returning. This has NOTHING to do with the doctors (they are great!!), but the office staff can sure turn patients away by being rude. Jacquelyn is still a sweetheart and I am happy they have one nice receptionist there! David, My concern about pricing is not accurate. Coming from your receptionists themselves, they said prices have changed since under new ownership. It wasn't the pricing that made me upset, it was the way I was spoken to. You need to realize that your staff talks insurance "all day long", not your patients. So to them it may be an every day conversation, but to your clients it may not. It is something discussed once a year if that. If you realized my situation, then wouldn't you as an owner, reach out to me? I understand that several of your staff stayed the same, but it is also under new management with a new office manager. The girl who began my exam was also new and had a hard time explaining the insurance and costs because it had changed. Dr. Shinen has been my optometrist for so long and I feel bad with the thought of leaving her. My kids love her as well and to get them to the doctor is hard enough. This was my first visit, and my choice was based on Yelp reviews for optometrists that were providers for my insurance (VSP). I saw Dr. Thomas, and I was impressed with his willingness to answer questions and his obvious experience in performing an efficient and thorough exam. When choosing the components for my glasses, I'd have liked a better walk-through of the costs for each part and how my insurance would be applied (so that I could make better decisions about whether I wanted particular lenses, coatings or whatever). I came in for my eye exam which went OK the tech didn't really say much and the doc was nice. But that is beside the point. I have stellar insurance which covers pretty much all of my cost for the exam and materials but I think that worked against me at this office because I was charged twice the amount for the exam than any other offices, I called around after because I felt ripped off. I was new to the area so I trusted reviews to select a doctor and yes the reviews here for the doctors are great but the staff is flat out rude! They tried charging me for a fitting that I didn't even have done! And disclosed personal information to a third party without my consent. I have filed a complaint with HIPPA because of how unethical they practices are. The lady in the Eyewear area had the nerve to talk bad about me right in front of my face after I said I would take my business elsewhere. I have never felt so disrespected especially at a doctor's office! read more

My aunt and mom have been seeing Dr. Dougal for 15 years and he's great. I recently went thinking I was going to see the same doctor, but they scheduled me with Dr. Thomas without even telling me. He was friendly enough and have me a prescription for my contacts which I took to Costco because this office charges too much for them. When i got my new contacts, I couldn't see correctly and went back to the office. All the office could tell me is that their machine says I'm seeing great...Thank you for your great help office....I still can't see and I won't be going back to your office for sure... read more

I still cannot say enough about every single person that you encounter from front office staff, eye care assistants, doctors to eye glass professionals. They are patient, kind, and professional. Dr. Shinen is efficient, patient, very knowledgeable, personable, and extremely great with children. Carly, an eyeglass professional, was blunt with what looks good on each individual, which is greatly appreciated. She also chose glasses that were a best fit and look best on you, along with suggesting the appropriate lenses, without being worried about what was the most expensive and what would make the business the most money. Been going there over 5 years with Dr Jeffrey Dougal. He is a very caring Dr. and is thorough with you and any issues you might have. You don't feel rushed and he takes his time with his patients. He is very good in what he does and I say this because of the results I get with my prescription. I wear progressives and I feel like I'm not wearing glasses as my vision adjust perfectly. They're also not a hard sell office in my experiences. The staff is nice and the nurses that do the prescreen are good in what they do. The technicians that order your glasses assist you in selecting your frames and I find it helpful to have another opinion. This office has been helping my wife and I for several years. The doctors are very professional and helpful in answering our questions and giving great advice. Their friendly office staff is very efficient and helpful in guiding their customers through the process. Their glasses office works closely with you to find the right glasses and backs them up if they break from normal use. My sport glasses broke and they called the manufacturer and got me a new pair at no cost. I highly recommend their 75$ basic exam to fit most budgets. They have other services if you need them.
