I've been a patient for over 25 years, seeing Dr Swearingen since I was a teen. I had a recent "situation" with a new pair of lenses, and they were excellent in taking care of things! Luba, an optical tech, is always great helping me select my frames, and this was no exception. Michael was on top of handling the issues with the lenses. He offered to drive the lenses to me if I couldn't make it in. Jacqueline runs the front desk/office and is always so friendly and remembers you. I'm so glad I found this eye doctor! I've driven past it countless times but finally went in because it's close to home. Everyone is SO nice!!! I was kind of shocked because my past experiences with eye doctors have been so boring, or they've seemed rude and not welcoming. That's the complete opposite here. I seriously don't know how these guys got a 4 stars Yelp review. The first appointment was great, everything went like it should. So I scheduled a 2nd appointment for my contact lens and "training" in their office after my examination, I was told to come back on the 11th at 3:30pm for it. I requested to leave work early to accommodate the appointment; i called ahead to let the office know that i am running 5 minutes late. The front desk gal answered and I'm now told that I didn't have an appointment set up and I didn't set one up. Every single time I tried to tell her that someone in her office screwed up I get a tone of no we are right and you didn't set it up. I mentioned to her that I sat in their office with their employee setting it up and even mentioned that I would need to leave work a bit earlier. I asked for my examination paperwork to be emailed over and still waiting for it. Good thing I just told my gf to cancel her appointment with them. I will never go back to them and will not recommend them to anyone. Costco seems to have better service than these guys. Please save your time and money go elsewhere. read more

1st, can I just say how much I love Dr. Dougal and his staff. I completely trust him with my eyeballs!!! I have been seeing Dr. Dougal since 2008 and he has always been professional and friendly. I had Lasik surgery in 1996 and it is important for me to continue to keep my eyes healthy. As I get older it becomes even more important to make sure I have the best vision possible. Dr Dougal and his staff (Joy has been stellar as well) continually keep me within my vision goals. Dr. Dougal has seen me for scheduled appointments and the occasional emergency. I once had a sty that was really irritating me. He also saw me, with little warning, when I got a small piece of metal in my eye (fell in my eye while working underneath my car) on basically short / no notice. I have no problems recommending OC Eyecare Optometry to anyone concerned with an important matter as your eyes! This was my first time experience here and as the old saying goes, "you never get a second chance to make a good impression"! I have had previous great service with Michael (office manager) at previous locations, so it really should not come as a surprise how pleased I am with my new glasses & service. Michael has great taste in frames and a "gift" in suggesting which frames compliment you the best. The location is not as close as I would like (about 25-30 miles away), but definitely worth the trip I highly recommend if you're wanting great frames & great service, this is the place to visit. The prices are great and so are the staff. Through insurance I got my frames for free! The person who was helping me was giving me choices for my glasses and she was very real and honest. I liked how she wasn't pressuring me to add everything to my glasses and try to rip me off. I got a call a week after to pick up my glasses and I love them! My family has been patients of Dr. Michael Swearingen for around eight years. (Previously we had been patients of my husband's uncle, who retired.) I am extremely happy with the quality of our care. Dr. Swearingen is not only very personable, but he is very professional. I feel like he is very up to date with the latest research and standards in eye care. My husband (who is a physician) and I have both had eye issues and I feel like they were dealt with with a minimal amount of hassle. The staff is very professional and it's very easy to schedule appointments. I feel like the staff really works hard at making sure that I can maximize my insurance (for contacts) and they are understanding at dealing with flexible benefits. My husband is really picky about his frames, and the they have gone above and beyond to find him exactly what he wants.
