Facility~ 5 Stars Dickhead OPD that arrested me~ 0 Stars I spent a relaxing night here a few years ago for allegedly violating article VIII section 18-411 Code 1986, 94.01 of the city ordinance, better known as "off premises canvassing". A local night club hired us to pass out free drink passes but failed to mention the law preventing it. The officer wanted to make an example out of me to show the club owners they wanted the fliering to stop. I was given no warning. It was my first (and perhaps last) time in a place of incarceration, and I must say that I was rather pleasantly surprised with the experience given the circumstances. My memory is a bit hazy--you'll have to excuse me as this was quite a few years ago. The facility was newly built, in a concrete-metal style that is elegant in its spareness and utility. It is, however, lacking in a certain fluidity. My particular cell was absolutely spic and span. A polished concrete floor and stainless steel fixtures complemented a minimal, Japanese-inspired interior. In keeping with its status as a public facility, individual dwellings were completely sealed from each other with little flow or openness betwixt them. A rolled up mat normally provides an additional level of comfort to the metal bunks lined nicely up against the walls. Staff was generally efficient and friendly. My fellow detainee's had lovely words of encouragement as this was not their first offence. A new, soft gray blanket provided much needed warmth during the morning chill. Unfortunately, I was not able to turn off the fluorescent lights at my discretion. This, however, did nothing to disturb my inability to sleep because I was still in shock from the arrest . If I were to suggest one area of improvement--the food was severely lacking. In the morning, I was given a tray containing a carton of low fat milk, generic brand cereal, mushy grits and 2 slices of white bread. While the cereal was satisfying (the milk, in particular, was very refreshing for a very parched throat), the grits were inedible. The two slices of white bread, I later learned come with every meal. 42 pieces a week in fact. With all the fresh produce that is locally available in Orlando, I felt it would represent the city better if these were available to the facility's temporary dwellers. read more

My experience with Orange County Jail has been extremely negative. Many of the officers who control inmate movement and meal times appear to abuse their authority and treat inmates harshly. They often yell at and disrespect inmates instead of handling situations with professionalism. The meal schedule is also very irregular and inhumane. For example, breakfast is served around 6 a.m., but lunch may not be served until 5 p.m., and dinner as late as 8 p.m. This goes against the standard meal schedule that inmates should receive. In addition, I've encountered serious unprofessional behavior from staff, including being hung up on when calling administrative offices and receiving rude or dismissive treatment when trying to ask about inmate services. The people who work here are truly miserable and it'd be nice if there were some people who actually have empathy and patience to work here. There also seems to be a lack of fairness and transparency in how certain processes are handled -- for example, requests related to marriage or paperwork are denied for questionable reasons, such as claims about missing immigration stamps that have nothing to do with the marriage process. On top of that, they are very disorganized and you will get different information depending on who you ask. All the staff is NOT on the same page. Corporal Tinsley is an inconsiderate power hungry individual who is racist and not willing to accommodate or help out certain individuals with unique circumstances. Overall, the system feels broken, unaccountable, and deeply unprofessional. Orange County Jail needs oversight, accountability, and proper staff training to ensure inmates and their loved ones are treated with basic dignity and respect. read more

A family member was incarcerated at Orange County Corrections in Orlando, FL. We go to the visitor center every two weeks. There are about 100 visitation booths but usually only 15 visitors using them. However, we were seated directly in-between visitors while the remaining visitors were spread out, so we asked to be moved. The person who overseas seating and the guard became very unpleasant when we asked to be moved. Now, every time we visit we always get seated in the same area, sometimes the exact same booth, with other visitors directly next to us while the other visitors are spread out with no one near them. The staff claims the seating is picked randomly by a computer. However, we realize they are purposely seating us this way to be vindictive. We find the visitation staff very unprofessional and petty. read more

Someone has to look into the ceos and the regulations in this facility , the men ceo hit me with a clip board when I was waiting to be processed out and I know that is not permitted! ALSO in the description the ceo who are in the BRC need to redo their applications. When you are hired as a ceo it doesn't say to touch a someone , hit or to give disrespect. If a question is asked it's called answering it back. The best ceo there was called Mr.parilla he was honestly the ones who stuck by the book and was very resourceful respectful and did his job correctly . Unlike the others as I cried and was depressed due to mental health they told me to shut the fuck up the medical team on top of saying I am so annoying and that I need to be quiet or they will take me into isolation. The worst jail in Flordia inmates are treated poorly and discriminated by guards and police officers! My husband was assaulted by inmates over food daily ! I would give my experience here an overall high rating. The CO's were generally good. They were encouraging (female ward) and the jail itself is clean and updated. There's an entire separate dorm for drug users that are withdrawing, so they have the resources to focus on them while in need. Although there's the few correctional officers that are mean and unprofessional, overall you are treated fairly. I turned my life around quite a bit while I was here. read more

Spent a night there. The location is great, close to the theme parks and downtown orlando. Room service was included, but the food selection was limited to zero. Staff knowledgeable, but unable to provide me with room with a window. I would not recommend staying here on your next vacation; there are much nicer hotels in the Orlando Area. read more

In a word: AWFUL! Steer clear of this place. There is a free one-way shuttle service, but the seats are uncomfortable and the armrests are downright painful. Upon arrival, they take a photo of you for their Instagram page. For some reason, TSA agents pat you down. The wait for a table is over an hour. The whole time you are thinking "This is a nightmare!" but don't worry, because it only gets worse! Once the maître de (very rude) calls your name, you are ushered down the hallway which is sparsely decorated in a post-modern, industrial style. Before you get a table, you are shuffled from one room after another. The other patrons smell dreadful, I daresay some of them looked like homeless bums! After what seems like hours, they FINALLY usher you to your table, which, oddly enough, is equipped with bunk beds and shockingly: an exposed toilet! MAJOR HEALTH CODE VIOLATION! Once you sit down at your cramped table for two, the waiter quickly slams the door on you which produces a loud and heavy sound, not unlike the Law and Order "Dun-DUN!l" http://youtu.be/gP3MuUTmXNk Once your food finally arrives it is cold, and served in styrofoam to-go containers with flimsy plastic utensils. The dinner consisted of two small patties of mystery meat which seemed to have been frozen, fried, frozen again, then not thoroughly microwaved, some pasta spirals with just a hint of flavor, an iceberg lettuce and red cabbage salad with not a single tomato or a drop of dressing! Also in the container were two slices of un-toasted white bread and some anonymous yellow cake, which was the highlight of the meal. The wine pairing was obligatory and far too sweet and watered down, in my opinion. The view from the window was partially obscured by seemingly unnecessary architectural elements. Beyond the window a lake was visible, but it was largely overwhelmed by hideous spools of menacing razor wire. That was quite enough for me. Just at this point, I was rescued by a dear friend who took me out for Fat Tire beers and a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. After dinner we followed up with cigars and more beer. The Orange County Inn, AKA, Orange County Jail, is by far the worst lodging option in Orlando. From check-in to check-out, not one staff member was friendly. Upon check-in, they sent me through some high tech X-Ray machine, which was far more reliable than the ones at the airport. Then they took my photo, which I guess was in case I lost my room key and they wanted to make sure I was the actual guest in my room. Then they patted me down as if their high tech X-Ray didn't do the trick, and then, believe it or not, they went through my things and withheld them until check-out. I got everything back, but there's got to be some law preventing a lodging facility from just taking your belongings. After being told that my wardrobe was not up to their standards, they made me strip in front of them and put on one of their ugly blue onesies. The gall of the staff here, they didn't even tip me for the strip show. Cheapskates. Oh, and did I mention the sandals and white tube socks they made me wear? I didn't realize I wandered into Germany. Things went from bad to worse real quick. I didn't realize I booked the shared accomodations. My room was one huge concrete room with enough bunk beds for the entire Miami Dolphins football team. And don't get me started on the open toilet. I made sure to let everyone know I was going # 2 in case they wanted to watch. Serves them right for giving me roommates. The mattress was more or less a green pad that just covered the hard metal box spring. And no pillow! What was I supposed to do? I asked the housekeeper dressed in an orange onesie and he just laughed at me. The biggest let down however, was the room service. I have to give them credit though because they were usually very prompt and served my meals at the same time every day. Breakfast always consisted of some blueberry cake thing, and either oatmeal, grits, or cereal which didn't even soften one bit after drowning it in "milk". I'm pretty sure it wasn't milk. It was some type of powdery thing mixed with water. Pretty much looked like cloudy water. Lunch and dinner was pretty consistent too, beans were the chosen staple. Which, by the way, isn't a great thing when you're sharing your lovely room with 30 other men, many of whom I believe were having a contest to see who had more gas. As you can see this will definitely be the last time I stay here. Once I checked out they gave me all my property thank God, and a one ride bus ticket. They wanted me to leave that bad and get as far away as possible. I guess my complaints throughout my stay made them upset. The general manager of this "Inn", a Mr. Corporal, told me to never come back. Like I had a say in the matter to begin with. Their shuttle bus drive handcuffed me for the ride there. Please take my advise, spring for the private suite, it can't be any worse than what I had. read more

Had to do quick walk thru to get bonded out. Left all my property in my car before I went in only thing I took was Id and car keys. Cop put my Bmw keys with someone with a immigration hold? Why would they do that because they are jealous. My charges got dropped because I didn't do it even tho they told me I did It when I was there. All of them can Go to hell. read more

Inhumane how some of the officers treat the inmates.. I won't go into detail on the internet about how bad it was but it was mainly one officer in particular. Was afraid to ask for badge number cause I would have went to isolation.. and got hurt again. read more

This place is a total joke. I visit my son every week I wear the same pants because its the only ones I have that are loose fitting and I change into them after work they seem to have a problem with it. One week did not let me visit my son and every time I wore anything loose fitting or notprovocative just a long t and loose Jeans it seems like she had a problem with me and made it know because she asked me every single time to step back to see my clothes and always made an excuse as to why I needed to change. Mind you there was someone before and after me with skin tight spandex and a short top and no one blinked an eye. Them guards have made everything into a black and white thing then I go one week and I young lady behind me has a top with holes and the guard just says let me make sure the top is long enough. Really I'm a fully grown woman and I know how to dress appropriate specially for my age and they make me feel as if I'm the criminal. They have absolutely no respect for others and clearly have absolutely no people skills. I hate even going to see my son they make you feel so uncomfortable. I have never been rude nor disrespectful to law informants but they really get you to a hole different level. I even asked a young lady one time did they not say anything to you about having a wig on and she said no but they told me I couldn't wear my head scarf because they said my original hair needed to show but if she has a wig that's not her original hair. Nothing against her but I'm sick and need to wear it for medical reasons. I have contacted a lawyer. Something has to change. The food sucked and they made me pay a bail bondsman when I had the money to bail myself out. It's freezing everywhere and no one read me my Miranda rights when I originally got arrested. The police made fun of my tattoo which has my brother's last words which really made me angry. There were a couple of helpful workers but for the most part they were extremely rude and arrogant. They didn't give us beds until 7 am and then they woke us up at 10 to eat these shitty slices of ham with stale bread and some drink that wasn't quite milk and wasn't quite juice. I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night. I had a panic attack and they just laughed and told me to man up, I can't imagine how they deal with people with mental illnesses. They took 8% of the cash I had on hand which I'm pretty sure is illegal. The biggest transgression though was the horrid Jesus sandals they made me wear, I still cringe at the thought that someone might see me like that. read more

This is a wonderful jail because an inmate doesn't have to worry about being raped. All the CO's are gay & lesbian and will give it up to anyone who wants it. The asses are too loose because they have been fucked so many many many times but the blow jobs are excellent! read more
