Free library classes! I stumbled upon the library having free tech classes by accident but they have everything you can imagine - sewing, camera, self improvement, etc. Today I took Excel level 3 & 4 at the Southwest Library. My teacher was Rebecca. I've had her several times - she's great every time - every class. I've traveled to Winter Garden for PhotoShop, Washington Park, & a few others. I have classes scheduled every week until almost the end of the year. Can't wait to see what they will release next year! read more

We ALWAYS do early voting here, and not only do they offer tons of computer classes, Yoga and meditation for adults! Books, CD's, DVD's and oodles of great programs for kiddos! They also have Trivia contests on Monday nights for adults as well as "Stress Buster Coloring" and "Story Time" for us big kids, too. The folks who work her are so positive, helpful and friendly! I've been coming to this location for several years now. They have a decent selection of books and media. They have a variety of eBooks available that you can read from the click of a button (great during COVID-19 times). Due to COVID-19 they have removed all tables and the crowd is generally pretty small. You can do self checkout. I find it pretty safe to go here overall. As a new Orange County local, I went to pick up a new library card to access the ebook system. What a pleasant and informative experience! Coming from Miami, I've never had a librarian take so much time to talk to me about all of the perks you get as a library cardholder. I never knew how expansive the electronic system is for borrowing books, DVDs, streaming, etc. until I came into this library branch. I feel like local library systems are SO underutilized: I wish more people knew about the amount of resources they could access with a single library card- especially children. I appreciate the staff here and look forward to visiting this branch in the future. read more

This is a great library in orange county. It also is now serving as an early voting center. The line was Jane Normas, but we were in and out in 30 minutes. Great experience and very organized. The overflow parking for this voting location is at Stein Mart across the street. However, just wait for somebody to pull out as voters are coming and going constantly. You can also drop off your absentee ballot, just pull up toward the end. You must get out of your car and drop it off directly versus handing it to someone from the car. Just make sure it is signed on the outside where required. read more

I stopped in here today to drop off an audiobook that I rented a few weeks back. This location was very easy to get into, aside from the general traffic of the dr. Phillips area which can be rough at times. Overall, it looks like a decent sized Library. They had a dedicated children's section, and seem to be similar in size to the West colonial location over near Herndon. As it's a part of the Orange county Library system, all of the usual services are available. If you live in this area, this should be a convenient location to use as your primary Library. read more

Love this location as it is the same one that I came to as a kid. They have computers in the back that are free to use unless you have to print something then it's 10 cents a page. They also have another room in the back for classes. Upfront they have a kiddie area with all their books, then next to it they have all kinds of dvds. They will have events for kids and adults make sure you check the calendar for the free events some are classes some are puppet shows. They also sell used books and dvds. For the most part everyone is nice read more

Ready Every Day! Knowledge is power!! Library is a great place to explore, read and learn. You can find interested books, magazines, novels, children books, computers lessons, CD and DVD etc..here. We love to come and visit the Southwest Branch library by Dr Phillip area with our children. The library staffs are very friendly and knowledgeable here. We like to visit here weekly to let our children learn new things and play computer games. They have great books for sale with very low price. Sometimes you might find the book you like and own it yourself. Today my daughter forgot and left her jacket at the library, we called back later and we were very thankful that staff found it and kept it at the front desk. We are very appreciated they found my daughter's jacket. Highly recommend you and your family to visit this great library! read more

Totally new revamp to this library! Modern updating and a ton of items available. Schedule is available online as well. I love the after hours book drop outside that you can leave your books at. They also offer something unique that not all libraries do - you can request a book online and then they will mail it to your house. When you are done with it you can simply drop it off, and if you need more time - you can request it through their online portal. Very convenient and adaptive to the modern times. read more

I love this library location. It's very clean and friendly. I went to use the computer lab for Spanish lessons in the language lab. It really is cool to be in a room of other people who are trying to learn another language. You are given a computer along with headphones, and you go at your own pace. Alcohol swabs are provided for the headphones. I later learned I did not have to go to the library for the lessons, but I can do it online from home. Duh!!! Nice enough library but $5 for internet use on your own device for visitors is just silly. Librarian says they are not a public library because they don't get federal funding and they don't charge residents. I refused to pay. This county has the most sophisticated library system around so they are doing better than most. I will make sure to spend that $5 in gas and drive south about 25 mins to Osceola libraries where internet is COMPLIMENTARY (that's how you treat a guest) and they have great STEM events and classes. Very disappointed in Orange County. read more

Great place to go read all your local newspapers and surrounding towns publications. The person sitting next to me breaths like he is in the loudest breath competition in the UNIVERSE. The OC Southwest Branch has a great location because its right by everything in Dr. Phillips. They have a wide range of books, dvds, and music to check out. However, there are a couple of things I don't like about it: -This is the LOUDEST library I've ever been to. If you're looking for a quiet place to study, go elsewhere -You have to have a library card to access the internet.... the Winter Park and Celebration libraries have free for all wifi.... it just seems old school to me. -Very limited tables for you to study at If you're here to just check something out then you're good, but if you're trying to get some serious studying on... its way too distracting. read more

Sometimes I just cannot believe there is a place that loans you books, music, and movies and all you have to do is return them in good condition and on time or pay a nominal fine. SO COOL! Having said that I am fortunate enough to live between 2 really nice libraries. The one in Windermere is a little farther but sometimes I'll go a little farther to avoid the kids and noise that brings SW Library down from 5 to 4 (sometimes 3.5) stars. Where are the librarians who hush everyone? I like the self check out here. Get that noise under control & the stars will go up! read more

Libraries are awesome. A wealth of knowledge and opportunities awaits through the doors. And for free (not totally free, paid for through tax dollars). Gotta get my tax benefits. Yes this is a branch of OCLS. It's on the smaller side. The main one downtown is da best. So for a branch, I have no complaints. This is the branch I frequent more often since it's in my neighborhood. There are numerous free classes taught here. Most are during the day. However, I recently took a quick books series which was in the evening. The cool thing about OCLS is the delivery service for books, movies, CDs (those crazy disc things) that is yes...free. Life hack...free Netflix. I love the library. read more

Very nice library. It's clean, the staff is friendly, lots of great books and classes, computer access and plenty of free parking. My only complaint is it's pretty loud. They chose an open air classroom for their computer classes so when you're trying to focus on your work on the computers, you hear the instructor teaching the class. People also tend to rudely talk on their phones at the computers and there are often little kids making noise and running around the kid area. All combined this makes for an unusually noisy library. So ironically I don't come here to read as it's not conducive for that. But I do love the convenience and am happy to have such a great library system in Orange County. read more

I was excited to learn that there's a close library to my place. Place is nice and look organized, so many good books to choose especially if you love reading. they have kids area that is open (not a close door) so it gets loud especially in a library. And unfortunatelly People doesn't know how to use their INSIDE voice when they talk and employees just walk pass them people without saying anything or atleast just a courtesy since it is a LIBRARY after all. I guess its because some of the people that works there are pretty loud too. read more

I enjoy this location as its always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. They offer story time for children on Thursday mornings, during which children are engaged in learning through song, puppets, dance, and more. The childrens area has a large selection of books, computers for them to use, and puzzles to play with. read more

This was my first time visiting a new library here since I moved to the area, so I was a little cautious... but I was so impressed by this branch! The staff was so friendly and helpful- they helped me with my new library card, walked me through all the resources, and explained policies. The library isn't that big, but there are plenty of resources to check out. The books and movies seem to all be in great condition. Definitely going back again! read more

Small But Convenient The South Creek branch of the Orange Country Public Library is one of the smallest branches, and basically has a small sampling of what the big branches have to offer. However since it is so convenient to the south OBT/Hunter's Creek/ JYP neighborhoods, it is a frequent dropoff point and as such generally has some good stuff. The Good: SO Convenient: The South Creek Branch is right at the intersection of three major neighborhoods in Southwestern Orlando, and as such is probably one of the most visited libraries. It is no more than five minutes from most places, and is easily accessible from the Central Florida Parkway, John Young, and is directly off of S. OBT. Computer Access Granted: This center has two computer labs, one for general computing, and one for free english and computer skills classes. The computer labs are generally very busy, but most weekdays you'll be able to get on in quickly, and during the weekends you may need to wait in a queue for about ten minutes. Lots of material: The Orange County Library system has to be one of the best in the state as far as the sheer amount of material is concerned. New release CDs DVDs and books abound, and the South Creek Branch keeps a pretty wide stock. The Bad: You're breathing on my books: The library is way too small, and if you've got more than 4 or 5 people in one area, it gets cramped fast. J Fiction is MIA: For some reason there are only 4 shelves of J fiction, which means if you have a budding 7-10 year old reader your selection is rather limited. No idea why this is as other branches have more JFIC, but oh well. South Creek Library is a great little branch, that despite being one of the smallest system branches, it's got quite a bit of content and is a great place to use public computers and take classes. I thought there was a level of noise/ sound that tolerable so that all could focus in a library setting? Not in 2018 and not Florida! The LOUDEST library!!! The people that work are the worst offenders. They speak at full volume about their troubles and tasks at hand for the library. Shut up or speak in a low tone! People talking on the phone at the computers or just talking. Shut up, or speak quietly. I was shocked because other guests were complaining, but to the people that were offenders. This library has a great selection of books, cds, and TV series DVDs. There is ample parking and the staff is always very friendly. There are several computers for internet browsing and I have always seen at least a couple, if not most, available. I appreciate that they have 4 self check-out stations, which are very easy to use, and I have never had to wait in line to check out books. I didn't give 5 stars because for how great this library is, I wish they had a better selection of DVDs to rent. Also, the signage around the library isn't great. The first few times that I went here, I felt like it was a little confusing trying to find the various sections. Overall, this is one of my favorite libraries in Orange County. read more

I like the smaller library. Its not too packed and convenient for me. I get my free movies here sometimes and they also have a Redbox if you want up to date movies. The library also has new releases but you have to look for them and they don't tell which ones come out tho. I come here sometimes. There's a $10 charge for wifi if you are from out of town and don't have a library card. Boo - first library system i've experienced where I couldn't count on a quiet place to work for free. Also no study rooms just open spaces, and a tech class going on to provide some background noise. Otherwise it's a nice small local library, just not what I needed and a waste of time getting there and all plugged in. read more

This is not a good library to come to if you are expecting a quite environment as the low quality of people that visit this place will answer their phones, let their screaming kids run around and talk loudly and the staff does nothing about. Will be going to a different center. read more

I love the kids section and the employees are great. I love that I can order books from the websites and gets my books sent to my house for free. There is a great selection of books and they have great kid events such as story time and such. read more
