Got my first tattoo here, I didn't catch the guy behind the counters name but he was super helpful and was able to get me an appointment with Bryan, the tattoo artist and he was able to get me in and out in minutes. Orange tattoo has great reviews so we stopped in to see and thankfully they were able to take us. My sister and I went to get our first tattoos here and had heard good things about the shop from other people, so we were anxious and excited to see if those claims were true. We discussed our ideas with Walt, who was quick to criticize both of us on several aspects of the tattoos we wanted. He was very judgmental, and not forgiving about the lack of knowledge we had about tattoos. I had drawn up a sketch of the general look of the tattoo I wanted, and he repeatedly told me that the styles of the different parts of it didn't match, even though I repeatedly told him I only drew it to get the idea of the tattoo on paper. When we came back to get the actual tattoos, Walt was over 30 minutes late for our appointments because he took a walk-in before us. He did my sister's first, which turned out great, and then did mine. Both sketches looked okay, but it was easy to tell that he had done them that same day as soon as he got in, instead of when the ideas we spoke about were fresh. There were a few stray wobbly lines in the sketch up of mine, but I mistakenly thought they were from pixelation and that he would smooth them out for the actual tattoo. Nope. He literally tattooed quite a few pixelated lines onto my skin. The lines are in a dreamcatcher-like pattern, so it's extremely noticeable. Also, as I was getting tattooed, I heard him say "oops". If it was a joke, it wasn't funny. There are quite a few bad lines in the tattoo itself, which I will post a picture of. The price I paid for the tattoo was not worth the experience, and I wasn't asked to tip so I can only assume that they took the tip out themselves. I would not recommend getting tattooed by Walt, but it seems that other people have had better experiences with other artists. read more

I got my tattoo with Joe (Joe-One?) in December and loved it. As with all of my tattoos I came in with a couple pictures of designs or ideas I want. I walked in close to closing time so there wasn't time for the tattoo, but he had an opening that worked for me 2 days later; he even had his own drawing based on my ideas in that short amount of time! Everything was clean and comfortable. He was gentle but I think I also got it in a less painful place (arm) than some of my other tattoos. The price was right for the quality of the tattoo and it still looks great 6 or 7 months later. I only like it more as time goes on. I recently stopped by to bounce a couple ideas off of Joe for another tattoo. The idea i had wasn't going to look good in a few years as the lines bled, unless we did it bigger, and I'm glad that Joe was honest with me in how it'll look down the road rather than trying to make a quick buck. While I could've insisted that he do it small, you need to trust your artist to do what they do best- designing and tattooing tats that look great and last. I would recommend him for tattoo veterans and first timers alike. read more

First I will say, Orange tattoo is my main joint. I come here for all my tattoo needs because the guys are well-experienced & always a pleasure to work with. I've been tattooed by Brady, Carl, & Joweone and they are all awesome. Second, I will say to all the bad yelp reviewers...if you come in expecting for them to change their entire schedule, think again. Saturdays are walk-ins, first come first serve (and the same goes for the rest of the week when they have walk-ins available). If you say one day, "Oh I think I might want a tattoo today", well then, tough luck for you. The rest of us are paying good money for the artists' time, so don't think I'm going to give up my spot for you. If you want a complicated piece, for hell's sake, make a consultation & set up an appointment! And if the piece needs to be altered so it will come out correctly, take their advice! Called orange tattoo company at 6:30pm and asked if they had appointments available tonight. They said they take walk ins until 8pm. Me and my dad and a couple of other people were going to get tattoos and we get there at 7:15 and they turned us away. My dad said we would even pay double for the tattoos and for someone to stay a little bit later to complete these few small tattoos and they still said no. They were very rude. I understand that most tattoo artists are kind of dicks, but they were exceptionally above average when it comes to level of rudeness. Won't be back. They could have made $500 for 30 mins of work. He has been my artist for the last 13 years but he has been tattooing at Orange Tattoo company for the past 8-10 years I can't quite recall , anyhow this is not your stereotypical tattoo shop! I would absolutely never get a tattoo from this place! I went in there today to get a consultation on a design I had in mind and received terrible customer service. First off, the guy was a total asshole and treated me like I was some dumb 18 year old kid who never had a tattoo. I'm a grown woman and I have several tattoos. I simply asked for a tattoo behind my ear and he gives me a dry explanation that they don't tattoo people in visible places unless they have sleeves and visible tatts. WTF! Went In on Saturday to get some Tattoo work redone after a less than perfect experience. I was set up with Ian and new nothing about Orange Tattoo or their artists. Ian was super cool and we talked about a bunch of stuff while they did the work. Everybody at the shop is an amazing artist. I only have two tattoos but they were both done here, each by a different artist. I had intended on going to the same guy (Wes), but it turns out he moved to a tattoo shop closer to his home which is reasonable and they had nothing but nice things to say about him. My first tattoo turned out awesome and it took almost no time at all. My second tattoo was done by Chris. I only had a vague idea of where I wanted it, and he helped me perfect it and I am so happy with it. Both artists were so nice and easy to talk to, I held conversations with them while I was getting tattooed to ignore the pain. The shop is always sparkling clean. I came here because I followed one of the artists, Brady Duncan, from his former place of employment in Baltimore. I figured, once you have found someone that does good work, why risk it. He once again did an amazing job. While waiting for him to draw me up, I noticed all these celebrities on the wall, with personalized notes to the owner. The owner, whose name I forget, is the guy that tattooed the famous cross on Justin Timberlake's shoulder and the fairy on Britney Spears' lower back. Those were just a couple of famous people he tattooed. And knowing how good he was, and the fact that he hired Brady, I know this guy has high standards for his shop and I would recommend any artist there. read more

By far the WORST place to go to, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone if you want a well detailed design. When I walked in I showed the gentlemen my design and the response given was unacceptable "In my opinion I think its a terrible design". He did give advice to do minor tweaking to it but I think he lacked the skill of being able to do it.He than said he could ask another artist if he could do it but as I waited he NEVER came back so I walked out. Compared to the other places I have been to in the DC and Annapolis area (which were very expensive), the prices are very fair and totally worth it since the quality of work is so good. The environment was very clean and the staff was very professional and very kind. They worked with me as far as customizing my tattoo until it was a great fit for me. My tattoo artist was Walt. He was very friendly and super caring about the perfect spot for the placement of my tattoo design. My tattoo design had alot of curvy fine lines and he did them absolutely perfect and straight. I could not have asked for a better work of art on my body. I absolutely love it! So if you are looking for a place in the Annapolis area, this would be a great spot to go to. I've had 4 pieces done at Orange, all with Brady. I searched the area for 5 years looking at places to get my work done, and settled on Orange after seeing some stellar work on a friend and asking who their artist was. I have never regretted going to Orange to get ink done, and have never regretted the ink. The shop is clean, well lit, and has an open and inviting atmosphere, even for complete newbies like I originally was. I've looked at other places, and while there are certainly other great artists and shops out there, Orange is the best in the Baltimore/DC area in my opinion. Incredibly talented artists, great atmosphere, friendly staff, great prices. I really feel like I got an incredible piece of art. Brady did a large black and gray piece for me with such skill and speed. I like that he is not afraid to make suggestions to customers based on his artistic experience. He is especially attentive to the shape of the body, how the image will come out in certain areas, and what will best capture your vision on the body. Best to let him take artistic license on your ideas. He made some suggestions to my vision that produced incredible results. Again, incredible talent and very friendly, helpful staff. Terrible experience! ive been to many tattoo shops where ive experienced way better customer service. Shop looked cool and clean. I went to Ian for my tattoo and he seemed pretty cool until he started raising the price. I agreed on him saying 400-500 for the tattoo. which still was very steep to pay for the tattoo i wanted but i was excited. First he does one part of the tattoo (with the colors of his choice) and tells me i have to come back to get it finished. MY ARM BROKE OUT. BUMPS ALL OVER THE NEW TATTOO. i came back for him to finish the tattoo not thinking that it costs more for work he didnt finish on his own. they charged me $500 the first time. when i came back the second time it was $160. the second time he told me that he would not finish the bottom of the tattoo because of the bumps that he caused. it took about two months to go back a THIRD time. the third time he argued with me and stated how he did not want to finish my tattoo. and i am very unsatisfied with a tattoo that is overpayed for and him being inconsiderate about work thats on MY BODY!! In his argument with me he stated how "this is not somebodies basement that you get tattoos out of" all because he could not speak up at simply let me know that i must keep paying for him to finish his work. read more
