Matt is a highly skilled artist and also a super pleasant and funny guy. He is seriously talented and puts his unique spin on every design. I swore I'd never get a tattoo and just had Matt finish my third one. I got my first tattoo designed and personalized by Matt in 2022, the second in 2025, and the third a week ago. I explained my general idea and he created each design while providing expert advice on placement, size, and flow. Matt's shop is clean and has a welcoming vibe. If you want to visit the shop and initiate a business relationship of any kind, I would strongly recommend calling ahead and ensuring Jennifer is not working that particular day. Her customer service and general demeanor can be described as ranging from gleefully condescending to blatantly toxic and hostile for no particular reason at all. If you were raised by narcissistic parents in a generally abusive household and are used to being treated this way AND you really want to pay someone to treat you this way, I totally recommend. Matt has been doing my ink for 18 years, but it only took one year of Jennifer in his business to ruin it- and I largely regret returning after the first time I met her. Within a mile, there are two other shops with four other artists that are incredibly talented, kind, and generally a joy to interact with... If you want custom ink designed by a very talented artist because you are not an artist yourself but you have ideas, Bully Ink is the place to go. Only draw back, she is such a fantastic artist, you will have to schedule pretty far out to get ink done- but totally worth the wait. A little further down the road from One Shot is Ravenwood Tattoos- three artists with different strengths depending on what kind of ink you want done. They do custom ink, off the wall, and your own work. The guys are awesome with no toxic gate keepers at the door- totally recommend. All in all, I would recommend skipping One Shot and the associated weirdness and visit some of the other local artists in Edgewater- I wish I would have years ago. read more

Gentleman by the name of Grady is associated with the studio. Unfortunately he no longer works there and is getting referrals when contacting this particular studio. He took my money and never did the work. Just unprofessional, nasty, rude. Also he said he was an Edgewater. That is not the case. He is all the way in Baltimore. read more

I was looking to have a tribute piece for my dad and a friend recommended Matt (MGN) Nunnelee at OSS. He took what I wanted for this special piece and made it perfect. With that said, I decided that the cover up I've been wanting to do for 10+years was going to be left in Matt's more than capable hands. I got a bunch of work done by Matt N. (MGN) including the back of my neck, behind my ear, and a quarter sleeve. I'm happy with pretty much all of it. I gave him a design for my sleeve which I wanted to copy basically, but he didn't really pay attention to it, and just made his own rose pattern for me. Which came out nice, I get a lot of compliments, but years later I wish I wouldn't have gone with it. In the future I want to get it updated with more depth, colors and add more flowers. I'm not the biggest fan of traditional tatts and this is what it looks like. The other Matt did lyrics on my back. They look good except for one letter which confuses people sometimes as you can't read "tune" very well. Meh. I will probably get something done to it one day. The shop owner Eric is an amazing artist specializing in "traditional" style tattoos. If that's your thing, definitely check him out. He's done a lot of work on people I know which all looks great. read more

First time here. My friend had never had her ears pierced and was really nervous. Spanky was really straightforward with her and got it done quickly. Then he did my tragus and that went just as smoothly! I was expecting it to hurt a lot more than it did. Overall great experience. Will come back for sure. read more

I love this place. I got my belly piercing 2 time before"wasn't from this place", it was hurt while I get it done"I even cry".. And than in year or two my body start reject it.. I was SO EXCITED to find that Spanky works here!! Spanky did my 1st nose piercing about 8 years ago and he did such a great job that time. This time was no different. Spanky made me feel so comfortable and talked me through every step of the process before he did anything. He really focused on aftercare for my piercing and I've had no infection or irritation. So I went in for a re-piercing of my tragus which I thought had closed up. I was delighted to find out that it had not closed and just needed the loop put back in. You know, dude could have said, "oh I have to re-pierce it' and charged me, but he was straight with me and for that I was appreciative. I give the highest rating for honesty. read more

Scott was exceptional in explaining the whole process and prepared me well for the big ouch and the aftercare. I really worried about the healing process because of various reddit posters, however the magic spray (hypochlorous acid + saline) he sent me home with has made the recovery a breeze. I've had the piercing for a week, and I forgot it was there after the first 36 hours. No inflammation or any signs of irritation. I'm only going to Scott for any future work. The only con of coming to Scott is that you'll want more piercings because he does such a good job and made the recovery so easy. He's also a cool and courteous dude. 10/10

When we first walked in the staff seemed super friendly with other customers, but the second it was our turn the vibe completely changed. We waited over an hour just to be helped, then the apprentice seemed annoyed that we were asking about jewelry prices. Sorry for wanting to know what we're paying for? Some pieces were $300-$370 each, which I understand because it's solid gold, but the way we were treated when we didn't want to spend that much made us feel judged and uncomfortable. The actual piercing process was also not great. The piercer smelled strongly like cigarettes while working on my ear (not exactly comforting), and he was really rough with my friend's piercing and kept bumping into her other piercings during the process. Overall the welcoming vibe disappeared FAST and the whole experience felt awkward and judgmental. Save yourself the weird energy and just drive the extra 12 minutes to Mister Finister's Tattoo & Piercing for a much better experience.

While she does use a drill (contrary to what I originally searched for), she's incredibly skilled, gentle, and precise--so much so that it never damages my nails. Her technique is both efficient and mindful, striking the perfect balance between machine and hand filing. Initially, I was getting regular gel manicures, but Bernadette truly cares about nail health, and she suggested switching to builder gel (BIAB). It was a game-changer. Builder gel doesn't require soaking off and allows for continuous fills--meaning you can build on top of your last set without compromising nail integrity. Since switching, my nails have grown so long, strong, and healthy, and a single BIAB manicure can last me up to 6 weeks! Beyond nails, Bernadette is a wonderful person--easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and deeply caring. She also specializes in pedicures for clients with diabetes or other health conditions, which speaks volumes about her expertise and sensitivity to clients' unique needs. If you're looking for a thoughtful, health-conscious nail experience, I highly recommend Refresh Nail Spa and Bernadette in particular. My monthly visits have become something I genuinely look forward to.

Nail Haven did a beautiful job on my daughter's nails for her senior prom! We normally both get SNS…read moredip with simple designs like different color french tips on each nail or line work at our regular salon, but for such a special occasion she wanted something more elaborate. After reviewing their work on Instagram, we decided to make an appointment here. Originally, my daughter wanted to stick with dip to maintain her natural nail length, but the nail tech explained that the specific design she requested could not be achieved with dip powder. She transitioned to Aprés Gel-X instead, and still made changes from the original inspiration photo to simplify needs and costs after consulting with the nail tech. The final result was absolutely gorgeous and prom-ready! The only surprise was the number of additional fees added throughout the appointment, so she called me a few times to confirm costs before proceeding. I was happy to cover it for such a memorable milestone event. In the end she got one nail with light blue french tip, two nails painted blue and two nails with painted butterfly or flower design on each hand where in her original design it was a different design on each nail. While we will likely continue using our regular salon for routine nails due to the pricing structure here, I would recommend Nail Haven for weddings, prom, and other special occasions depending on your design aspirations.

The wait wasn't long (but I was there in the early afternoon on a weekday on an icy, snowy day, when some people may still have been hunkered down indoors), but I'd recommend making a reservation, since they're not a large nail salon and didn't seem to have as many staff members as other nail salons. But it was clean and comfortable, and they were playing great music. My nails look great - shaped perfectly, painted carefully. They took their time to make sure my nails looked great. They were friendly, and they offer plenty of paint options (I had plenty of dip options to choose from). Really a good place for a mani or pedi. I'd be happy to return.

My wife and I went to One Shot Studio to get matching tattoos to commemorate a milestone anniversary and it was a terrific experience! We were greeted by owner Spanky and sat to discuss what we were looking for and to learn what to expect getting our first tattoos. He made us feel very comfortable and walked us through the entire process. We then met our artist (Grady) and explained what we were looking for. Soon after, he came back with a great design and long before picking up the machine made sure we were good with the design, placement and all involved. Throughout the experience, he made sure were comfortable, offering time for a break, and allowing us to peek at the progress. If you're getting your first tat or your fiftieth, I couldn't recommend One Shot Studio higher. We had a great night and are loving our new tattoos....Thanks guys! Michael and MB read more

Brandon at One Shot is the ABSOLUTE Best! I've had 4 tattoo's done in the past 4 months...all done by Brandon and I will not go anywhere else. He is the definitely the best in the business! The whole shop is wonderful. Spanky is awesome and I love the whole experience. Can't wait to go back! I would definitely recommend ONE SHOT STUDIO to anyone interested in getting a tattoo. Especially if it's your first time. Brandon made the experience wonderful and took what I was thinking and brought it to life. Brought tears to my eyes!!!! He takes great pride in his work! Wow, Spanky and the crew at One Shot got my art right and did an awesome job with the tattoo and the whole experience was awesome. I've gotten ink from several places including overseas and One Shot if by far the best of all. If you know what you want they can do it but if you need help figuring it out they will work with you to get it right. ~Bro read more

I have many tattoos and most of them have been done at One Shot everyone has been amazing very professional shop and the artist there are actually artist's give them and Idea and they will make it a reality. I have also been pierced by Spanky and he is the best at what he does. I would suggest going here for all your piercing and Tattoo needs!!!!! read more
