I absolutely love this work out! I have a back injury that I have been dealing with for the last two years as a result of a car accident. I have been trying to find the sweet spot of being able to do some level of cardio and weight training, without aggravating my back injury. And to my surprise, after taking a class on a whim about a week ago, I have found my new obsession! The coaches are full of positive energy and ready to help you reach your individual goals. They each are aware of my injury and work with me to find modifications, that will still challenge me, but will not leave me in pain afterward. I really, really have appreciated that from the coaches and staff. They take it seriously. Also, I enjoy being able to move between different types of exercise and not getting bored by doing the same thing for an hour. The music I also felt was really representative of different cultures, which I enjoyed. I especially enjoyed hearing some reggaeton, and dem bow on the mixes!! read more

People reading this review, RUN from the Edgewater location. Find another brand! This has been the most exhausting and unprofessional customer experience I've ever had with a fitness company. Never again. Back in July 2025, I reached out to cancel my Elite membership at the Edgewater location due to financial hardship. I was told by the staff, "No problem, you won't be charged," only to find out later that they never processed the cancellation. I was charged $198 anyway. When I followed up, Gabe admitted, word for word, "That was my fault. I messed up." He promised to process it immediately, but he never did. I asked to be released from the contract. They agreed and admitted fault. But then they said, "We understand you're going through financial hardship. What if we froze your membership instead and processed your refund immediately?" I agreed only if the refund would actually be issued right away. They promised it would be. The refund never came. Between August 20 and October 6, I followed up seven times. Every time I was met with a new excuse. Gabe repeatedly admitted the refund had never been submitted. He said things like "I forgot" or "I messed up again." Other times he claimed they were waiting on owner approval. A few days later, he'd change his story and admit he never submitted it. Despite all his promises and apologies, nothing ever happened. It wasn't until I asked to escalate to the owner that Gabe finally rushed the refund through on Oct 6th. But even then, they refused to connect me with ownership. They refused to cancel my membership even though they didn't hold up their end of the bargain. They also refused to apply the refund toward the cancellation fee of $218. I told them they already had the $198, and they could apply it toward the balance so I could walk away peacefully after being TERRIBLY mishandled. I even offered to cover the remaining $20 myself. They still said no, we won't do that. I was denied when I asked to speak to the owner. I emailed the owner directly and never received a response. I reached out to corporate and have not heard back. I am now preparing to escalate through other channels. The lack of professionalism and accountability here is staggering. After reading other reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated incident. This studio has a pattern of overcharging customers, holding on to money that doesn't belong to them, refusing cancellations, and dragging out refund requests for months. Customers are left chasing the studio just to get basic issues resolved. That is completely unacceptable. They clearly prioritize contracts over a people. But if they had chosen to value people over money, they would have recognized this as an opportunity to preserve trust and retain a client long-term. Instead, they burned a bridge, all to cling to a two-month fee that was already covered. The funds for the cancellation were in hand, and they still refused, despite openly acknowledging their mishandling. Any brand with integrity would have recognized that it's the small breaches, the little foxes, that spoil the vineyard. This could have been a moment to make things right. Instead, they deflected, delayed, and claimed their hands were tied. No, this wasn't about policy. It was about greed! And now, a customer who might have returned months down the line will never trust them again. Orangetheory Edgewater -- do better. And to corporate, if this is the standard being allowed under your franchise, it's a serious stain on the brand. read more

I've been a Premier member at OTF EDGEWATER since 2018 and it was the best decision I've ever made! Since joining, I've become stronger and more dedicated to working out than ever before. The OTF Edge coaches are dedicated, friendly, and inspiring. There are monthly challenges to keep you motivated especially during those winter months. The layout of the workout is excellent where you spend time rotating between the rower, treadmill, and floor. The coaches make sure your form is correct and offer modified approaches at any time. It's a business and there's every normal thing you see regular businesses do here - make sure they're getting the moolah. Most if the other yelpers complained about this but every business does it to some extent now. That being said it's not bad, I'm such a lazy ass and I've only been here like 15 times but they're good workouts. though it's a very cramped studio, some additional space to move around would be great. It's a struggle some days to stretch because of the number of ppl in class which is mostly packed which says something too. It's good, fun workouts, good coaches too read more

It was nice that we could just pay $28 for him to take that one exercise class without us having to get gym membership. I do love the concept of OTF, and when I was a member there, I always got a great workout. I hate going to gyms, and this was one gym I made an exception to visit. The coaches played excellent music, and were motivating to the clients. I also thought the desk service was great - it's a still a business so you can't really fault them for that. I cancelled my membership for personal reasons. I wasn't really using the gym, so I didn't want to waste my money on a service that I wasn't using. What lead me to that decision, however, was a the lack of communication from the coaches regarding medical notes on my account. Don't get me wrong - the coaches were motivating to your fitness journey, and definitely helped push yourself to your limit. However, I have a weak neck and scoliosis, and many of the floor workouts were potentially damaging to my body. Even with a note on my account, the coaches did not seem to pay attention to my medical condition, which is eventually what led me to give up my membership. I am a nonconfrontational person, and while at OTF, I am surrounded by people that are in much better physical condition then me, and are hence able to do these weird and whacky workouts with heavy weights. I can't physically do those workouts, and yet, even with the note about my condition, I felt like I got no attention or modifications from the coaches. If I tried to use lower weights or just couldn't do the exercise, the coaches would come over and try to make me use heavier weights or do more reps, obviously disregarding the note on my account. They meant well, but it was the incorrect thing to do. Eventually, one class lead me to be in so much pain afterwards that I decided to cancel my membership. Sure, I could have spoken up for myself, but I am not that type of person, and regardless, it is their job to accommodate the client. The issue with these types of workouts (like the concept of OTF) is that they do not take a regular person's body into account, and without warming up, or taking the time to teach the proper technique, you could end up really damaging yourself. That's what my physical therapist told me, anyway (after coming in and not able to move my neck from the workout, lol). It's great that so many people find the workouts at this OTF helpful, however it just isn't my cup of tea. This review is not meant to push anyone under the bus. This is just my honest experience. Hopefully, the staff at OTF will pay a little more attention to medical notes on accounts. read more

There's bugs everywhere, puddles of filthy liquid of some sort and the "head coach" Aleks when asked about it responded, "I know it's dirty. I don't give a f@!k. Stop harassing the staff. I must say this OTF Edgewater Is and has an outstanding vibe. The front desk always welcomes you with a smile, they are phenomenal. The trainers are so attentive I haven't met them all but I must give recognition to Jo she's superb, keeps you motivated and is so engaged at all times. I loveeee her. Life changing! Highly recommend! I started going to OTF few years ago and it has drastically changed my lifestyle. I get sick less often, have more energy, and it helped me get in shape for flag football. Not to mention, I have the strength to handle my toddler when be decides to act like a cheese covered jellyfish when be is unhappy while out in public. Is it a bit expensive? Probably. The workouts are decent and it's what you put into it. When it comes onto the billing aspect, they definitely drop the ball. I was given the run around for two weeks (call back, we'll call you, we'll take of it -- nothing was done). I was told one thing and was continuously charged for 2 months even though I put in a request a month in advanced and was told I would be fine. When confronted, Emily (the manager) pretended she was sooo shocked. "What? I've never heard of something like that, I'll look into it" (she never did -- she should've been an actress) She just cared about making her commission off of me. Disappointed. I did like it here but they just care about making money which is understandable since it seems they aren't paid enough, I guess. Emily is not a good manager, very dismissive and rude. One of the best gym franchises I have been to. This workout is the real deal. Absolutely kicks your ass and you feel so good after. Inspiring coaches, great music, and a collegial atmosphere with friends from all levels of their fitness journey. This studio ignited in me the passion for running. I love coming here because everyday is a brand new workout so I'm never bored. The workouts are fun so 1 hour goes by quickly and you burn a lot of calories! Was exposed to COVID numerous times here and finally contracted it. There is no circulation and they are not allowed to leave doors open so it's not a safe environment. People are coughing without masks on and you're almost touching the person next to you on the Rowing station. Coaches are MUCH better and staff are a lot friendlier at Orange theory in Hackensack if you are considering signing up. Sign up in Hackensack and attend any any studio you want so you never have to deal with billing issues when you want to cancel. No one ever picks up the phone or emails back here. You have to just keep calling and emailing. They never keep their promises. They've charged my account after I attempted to freeze my account. Refused to give me a refund and talked to me so rudely. My friends also got their accounts charged after cancelling their accounts here. They were getting charged for months until they realized. Brought it up to management and they did not care. No remorse, terrible customer service. Ray and Emily need better training to run this place a lot more efficiently and improve how they treat their customers. read more

Posting an update to my previous review. After a VERY bumpy start and having to contact countless times to get credit back on the aforementioned promotion (note, the process took several weeks and no one would reply back after I confirmed I would stay with the gym for their refund offer). The time it took to resolve the signup promotion cut into my first month of sessions to the point that I had to take 8 classes in less than two weeks time, and by end of second weekend tweaked my back a bit and had to sit out a class. With that said, after a few classes I got into the rhythm and found following the classes easier (though not completely fool proof by nature of the trainers having to explain three different workouts at the same time). There are certainly some trainers who are much more successful at it than others and if it was only based on my experience with my fave instructors I've taken so far (Jamaine, Margaret, and Leon), I'd happily give Orange Theory a 4 star for energetic music and a great sweaty workout. But given the supremely frustrating initial experience, some of the trainers who I'd rather avoid, and the tech issues that sometimes arise and disrupt a workout, I'll tamper it down to a 3 star. read more

Love love love OTF! It's been a challenging but rewarding couple of months trying to make OTF a regular part of my life. The coaches are so amazing and you're motivated to keep coming back and sweat it out. To this day, I have not had the same kind of workout -- which is probably why I'm enjoying each class so much. The music is KEY! Apart from the coaches and music and the workouts, the friendly and engaged staff really make OTF feel like family (shoutout to Kriselle!). Love OTF! I've never been so consistent with working out ever before. I started going here after I had my first kid and found out I have some genes that put me at higher risk for heart disease. I decided it's time to start taking my health real seriously. And working out is a crucial part of that as we all know. I love going to the OTF classes cause it keeps me motivated and energized to keep pushing through even when I feel like stopping. The coaches are amazing - so motivating and on point with their instructions. What I love the most is the circuit training so we get a little bit of everything in and the data. I love knowing how much im burning and heart rate. And if I have a certain calorie burn goal in mind, I'll push myself hard toward the end of the class to meet the goal. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend OTF to anyone who's serious about getting their health (both internal and external) in check!! read more

Orangetheory is a great workout. The studio is clean, trainers are great, and you get an amazing workout in an hour. I've been to a few locations in NJ and NYC, but Edgewater is my home. The at home workouts when the stay at home orders hit last spring were a great touch to help us all keep our workouts going. I haven't returned to the studio since reopening. I'm knocking them a star because the process to freeze the account and/or cancel has been a pain. This is something that the should've made easier as a result of the pandemic. read more

I joined this gym on July 14th and came back On August 1st to cancel my membership and woman made me sound like the idiot that it is common knowledge for all gyms that the 30 day policy means they will have to charge me another more on August 14th and so my membership ends On September 13th. Went here for a few classes during the first week and they charged me for three months. Called to cancel my membership and said I had to cancel in person, but I moved out of the state. I suspended my membership but they still tried to charge my credit card every month. A year later and I still get emails about my membership payment won't go through. Literally is the best decision I've ever made. The staff is 100. Classes are 100. Service is 100. Studio cleanliness 100. Coaches are 1000!!! I started with the 8 classes a month and quickly realized I'm addicted and needed to upgrade to unlimited. I quit my gym membership and now just have OTF and it's totally worth it. If you like being efficient with your workout... literally no other class better. If you are competitive, this is also the class for you! All your stats are on the board and you are constantly pushing yourself to do better. I've done it all, boutique gyms, luxury gyms, class pass, peloton, Barry's boot camp, nothing compares. I really like this facility - the trainers are really great and so motivating (haven't had a bad one yet) and the front desk staff always help me out since I've joined. The only reason they are getting 4/5 stars is because the location Is so small. Because it's such a demanding workout a bigger location (especially front desk area which gets quite packed before classes) would really make the facility 5 stars. Otherwise it's a high intensity workout and I feel that you're really getting a bang for your buck. PS - all of the trainers playlists are bangin so it really pumps you up during a workout. read more

Edgewater has high energy instructors that are paying attention to form and want you to get the most out of your workouts. I come to this location every time I'm in the area. Really? We made an account online the day before. There is no way to be found to sign up online for your free class as advertised EVERYWHERE, or any guidance to what to do next. We got there 15 minutes early. The guy at the front desk said we can't go in even though the class was not full. Why? They already had two new customer in the class and they can't have more, And that we had to call in advance to book our first class and to cgo me half an hour early. What? Only two new customers in a class? Call ahead? It did not say any of that on the website, or at least it's nowhere to be found. We did not get any email to tell us any of it either. The guy just told us we can't go in. Did not even offer to show us around or book a later class, nothing. And the place had maybe two people at the lobby, neither was in line or anything. I love OT fitness Edgewater! I usually take classes with Leon and he is super motivated to help you do your best! Front desk staff is awesome and I love that they provide sanitizing wipes to clean the treadmills/rowing machines between circuits. Music pumps you up and there is a screen that guides you through the floor work routine after trainer demonstration. This is the best hour you will spend working out your entire body! By far one of the most dynamic workouts I've experienced. Prior to OTF I went to the gym 4 - 5 times a week, however results weren't as visible this quickly. The cardio blocks/rowing & quick floor workouts at OTF are where I've noticed the most improvement in my overall fitness. The staff at Edgewater are great & unlike any other gym, they are warm and friendly always accommodating and encouraging. Sometimes you don't want to be in the gym before or after work however when someone screams your name with a smile it instantly gets you pumped for the good you're about to do for yourself. I loved this place until 1 year ago when the club fired Brian, One of the best coaches, then a couple months after Marquise another coach left, and this week Cliff another coach also left.... lol.... Addicted. Again. I discovered OTF when I lived in the DC area. (Shout out to @orangetheorydunnloring). I relocated to NJ at the same time I was recovering from a stress fracture and acclimating to a different job. I didn't immediately join a OTF. What a big mistake, because not only did I terribly miss OTF for over a year, but I missed out on THIS OTF for over a year! The front desk is incredible. Everyone is fantastic and made me feel part of the family from day 1. The coaches are great. I have worked out with Leon, Jessica and Margaret. They are all challenging and have their own personalities! While you can't lose with any coach, Margaret is my favorite. She has helped me get back into OTF. She pushes me. Let me tell you, I love her corrections and advice. I feel very accountable to Margaret... even if my knees are not together when rowing:) My goal is to get to OTF 4-5 days a week. So far I have achieved this. I am getting my weights back to where they were when I left off and my running speed is increasing. If you are new, give it a few weeks and don't be scared off. I'm a flight attendant and I fly into Teterboro all the time. I have the luxury of going to OTFs all over the country. When I am in town, I will Uber to this specific location. Very good workouts every time! According to the workout summary, I burn roughly 600 calories in the 60 minute class, which also includes stretching. This is great! I come 1-2 times a week, usually on bad weather days when I can't go out for a run. They are strict about cancellations after the 8hr time window, so try not to miss a class otherwise you'll end up losing it. The morning classes are very popular, fill up fast and the waitlist can be long. But most of the time I manage to get in even though I started off at the bottom of the waitlist. read more

I started at the OTF in Edgewater before my wedding last year and after training from February - May, I saw major results. I took a "break" after the wedding and I'm happy to be back to this location. Eli and Jamain are both great trainers and make the classes fly by. I saw a couple of posting about this gym and was curious as to how it worked. I went online and signed my friend and I for a free class to try it out. When I called to confirm my appointment, Avery took my cc info and said that I was not going to be charged they just needed the info to save me in the system. So I went ahead and reserved a spot for my friend and I. Went to the class it was ok. At first I thought it was gonna be a more personal training but it was about 15 of us divided into two groups and alternating workout stations. It was ok. Honestly for the price they charge ($100+ a month) to the amount of amenities they have doesn't really make sense. To me at least. The next day I check my bank statement and I see I've been charged for the "free" class! $30 each. I called early in the morning and they said they will have the manager call me back. After hours I get a call back from the manager and she said that because I don't live in the town or the surrounding towns I didn't quality for free class!! I'm 15 min away and that's the closes gym to me. NOT ONCE did they mentioned anything about how close I had to be. I explained what happened and that it never came up on the conversation. She said she was there and she knows Avery mentioned it to me! She said they have a lot of people who take advantage of a free workout and so they had to do something about it!!!! I asked for Avery to call me back and confirm the conversation and he never did! The manager had the guts to ask me after all this if I was planning on singing up! Umm HELL NO!! This isn't about me being cheap! This is about not knowing and being lied to! I ended up disputing the charge thru my bank cause the manager was absolutely useless! So just making YOU aware if your planing on a "free" class but don't live in edgewater! read more
