You need to get the facts straight first before you jump the gun on how friendly Frank was to me because that's simply NOT the case... My ID is 100% valid. Im retired like I told him several times This is what I clearly told Frank a year ago and he said that it was" no issue at all" ..So I ended up coming back to the club a year later to finally join up. He asked me for ID which I showed him, then he started to say oh didn't you come in here a year ago etc, so I said yes I did. He then tells me "oh your ID says retired you can join at the full rate" and "I told you last time that im not giving you the discount we offer ...(that's not true at all ), What he said was that it was NO ISSUE".. He started to examine my ID, hold it up to the light literally about 5 different times ,,,Not sure what that was about...I said Frank, " WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY ID- YOURE EXAMINING IT LIKE ITS A FAKE $100 BILL OR SOMETHING, I said is there an issue?????..and he says " OH NOTHING I WAS JUST LOOKING AT IT. He then continues to say he's not giving me the discount and he told me this last year. I said NO PROBLEM...I was leaving, asked him for my ID back, and he started taking pictures of my ID with his phone... Maybe you can clear that up for me Andrew..what was that about after I said no problem and was clearly leaving the club with my coat on. Why did he start taking pictures of My ID? I mean I could care less that you or him think my ID is not valid, I could care less about any discount, or joining your club..Thats not the point at all.. I just didn't appreciate the way I was treated..PERIOD. Its really as Simple as that..I hope this clears it up for you. My experience was not good.

I had questions regarding options and changes to my membership and the manager Frances Frierson gave me a song and a dance "we'll get back to you". I waited several days, then went again in person and still could not get answers. Based on their their lack of caring regarding a member who still was looking to keep a membership, I decided to cancel instead-- why should I be loyal when they obviously didn't appreciate my long time membership and recommendation for them?

Went from getting exhausted at the thought of a pull up to doing 10 pull ups in a row with ease. Muscle definition and size has grown quite a bit and clothes fit much better now. Dropped 5 waist sizes on my pants and when from a size L/XL to a S/M. It feels good trying on slim fit clothes and they fit well. I really dislike the owner Tarzan. He nickels and dimes people, and is just a terrible business person. He wasn't straightforward with any of the prices or rules relating to gym prices. I signed up for the $99 deal with unlimited two months to any of the Giant boxes (Edgewater and Englewood). I show up to a foundation class (beginner's) even though I've been Crossfitting for multiple years, and he sends me an invoice for another $200 for the class a week after I took my first beginner's class. What? I called the gym in advance and spoke with him on the phone before I attended the class, and he never mentioned that to me on the phone or in person while I was in the class he was coaching. This box does not make you sign any liability waivers like every other Crossfit box does. (Lawsuit waiting to happen...) Instead, Tarzan wants to manually confirm you've finished an On Ramp/foundations course with the previous box you were at. I have 8 email correspondences with him regarding this, and he snapshots emails of previous clients that haven't done this to send to me as proof. That's cool, not. His gym in Edgewater is overcrowded, so he tries to redirect as much traffic as possible to his Englewood gym. That's great but I didn't sign up to CrossFit in Englewood, I live in Edgewater and that's where I want to work out. He wouldn't accept this until I finished the Foundations class... I wouldn't give this gym another hour of my time, much less a monthly membership.

I exchanged emails with the Assistant Manager regarding this issue, but she refused to provide a refund for those months, strictly citing their policy. I told her I understand their stance, but in fairness, I would be leaving a review about this experience. I have been a member here for over 5 years, but in the end, it is clear that they do not care about their members' health or safety. Horrible facility management and completely unfair billing. He gives daily 1-1 feedback on food choices that you've made throughout the day and will also help you reach your weight goal without having it feel like torture. The daily feedback is a unique system that I haven't really heard of with any other trainer. I was never able to lose weight on my own...from so many failed diets and exercise routines, it felt impossible. I was really in a slump and was not happy with my health or my eating habits. But luckily, after finding Gilbert and this gym, I've been able to lose 7 pounds so far and it's only been a little over a month! (This might not seem like a big deal but is a great feat for me as I do love my cheat meals here and there :) ) I feel a difference in my body, my fitness level, and my overall approach to eating and exercising. Not to mention, their private gym is really nice and follows great COVID measures (temperature taken at door, masks required and sanitizers available throughout) and there are never that many people.
