I absolutely love OTF! I have been an unlimited member with OTF since 2018, but travel a lot for work so I often go to other OTF gyms all around the US which is a nice option to have. The classes are high intense work outs which include the treadmill, rower, and weights. These workouts are split up during the one hour class. Although these classes are high intensity, anyone can take it and you can choose to go at your own pace. The coaches at this OTF are great with encouragement and lending out advice if you need any during the session! You do get a band which monitors your heart rate, but I personally didn't feel a need for it so I opted out and mainly take the classes because I like the structure of the workouts! The membership may be on the higher end, but in my opinion it's completely worth it considering I'm sweating so much after a session and feel refreshed! It's also super easy to sign up for classes on the OTF app, but just note that if you decide to cancel last minute you do get a 15 dollar charge. read more

I recently moved to Eugene and was looking for an alternative to a CrossFit type high intensity workout that is easier on my knees and really all my joints given I am no longer a spring chicken, so I finally tried OT. I am so glad I did, It has been amazing and I love the 2G workouts. The staff and coaches are amazing and have helped to find ways to modify activities and still get a great workout in an hour. Multiple classes throughout the day with great couches, people and atmosphere. It doesn't matter if you are in your 20s and training at high level or in your 60s and just want to find an activity to get your heart rate up. the lack of transparency of fees is completely accurate! They don't tell you up front that your membership is $159-169/month. Which really isn't bad for small group training. You also need to purchase one of there heart rate monitors for $109. or you can rent them each time you go for $5.00. You also can't "check it out" for a month to see if it's a good fit for you as they require a 30 cancellation notice, or you will be charged full price. Again, not disclosed when signing up. They also require you to give them your debit/credit card info just to take their free class. Now, the good....the classes are really good and you get a great workout. I signed up for the trial month, and was promised that I could quit free within 30 days. The gym was great, but I found another gym that was better for me. On the last day of my 30 days (I should have left more margin) I called to cancel. I was told that to qualify for the quit free guarantee, I had to attend 12 classes, and I had attended... 11. Because I didn't meet the requirements of the quit free guarantee, they said, I would have to pay for another month before my cancellation is effective. I wasn't told about the 12-class requirement when I signed up, but the policy is the policy, they said. 11 classes doesn't count. Beware. read more

I love OTF Eugene, the instructors are awesome, the staff is always friendly and helpful BUT class availability is getting to be impossible. You have to book weeks/month in advance to secure a spot and not be on the waitlist. I highly suggest they move to a large location or opening another Eugene location because the popular classes are full ALL THE TIME. When we first joined almost a year ago you could get into just about any class If you scheduled a couple days ahead of time... Now you literally can't schedule some of the popular classes without scheduling 3-4 weeks in advance. For someone like myself who works and travels a lot, it's extremely inconvenient and overall just doesn't work. I wouldn't give such a low rating if they made some sort of effort to compensate my wife and I who pay for two memberships. It feels like we've been flushing money down the drain and they've been pretty absent minded to the whole thing. read more

Love, love, love this place!! I've been working out here with my husband since they opened in January and it is the most fun I have had while working out. All of the trainers are super-friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, fun, and (oh yeah!) they kick your ass! Marcelina, Seth, and Melissa are all AWESOME trainers! I always sweat buckets at Orangetheory and I feel great after every workout. All of the members here are very friendly and I frequently find myself on a treadmill next to a new friend. This place really has a friendly atmosphere. The last thing I'll say is that I LOVE the technology! Between the heart rate monitors they use to keep you on pace to the outstanding app that lets you track your progress and schedule your next class. Orangetheory does tech right! Anytime I have had a question, the friendly and sassy front desk staff is eager to help! Classes are great, instructors encouraging...but staff was not that welcoming. I work at a gym and for a first timer who comes in I was lost. I had to ask questions about what do I do, how do I pay, where is the restroom, where do I start? Shouldn't this all be taken care of as a new person coming in for the first time. I came in again and I was clueless. I love the workout but I don't feel welcomed by the staff. I was quite shocked that they do know how to greet regular clients because each client who walked through the doors was greeted with such a loud greeting and a loud voice. Great classes and great coaches... if you can get into them. Have never been impressed with class availability, there's always a waiting list. Booking the month out is not an option with my work schedule. I called last week to inform I needed to cancel membership as I can never use my classes. Was told I need to come in to do. Well, considering I was out of state all week, I couldn't get in until the day after my billing cycle. Informed that I will get billed again due to 30 day notice. Easy to say that I will never recommend them. Save your money and join a gym with small groups. read more

The gym is nice, the classes are great, coaches are great. It's a great workout. So why am I giving it twi stars? They have become too popular. In addition to pretty much the highest monthly fee for any gym in town, they charge $12 per class if you don't cancel within 8 hours of class time. There are no drop ins at this gym practically speaking, as most classes are fully booked with waiting lists. The problem being if you don't book you won't get in, but you can't always know that 8 hours beforehand. I am on waiting lists for classes booked weeks out, literally. This is a great workout but unfortunately they have become a victim to their own success. read more

And then proceed to ask me for my phone number, never telling me what the fees are. Look Orange people, I've been to numerous gyms and I do not need to come in to know whether it's a good fit for me or not. You know how I know it is not a good fit for me? You lack transparency on a very basic level. Most people who know about health and fitness will tell you- HIIT (high intensity interval training) is the way to go to be in shape. One of my favorite parts of Orange Theory is the technology- you wear a heart rate monitor throughout and your heart rate and calorie count is displayed on the tv's inside the studio throughout the workout (so no slacking!). I love the accountability this provides, and the colors represent different "zones"- the goal is to be in the orange (which means you are pushing pretty hard) for 12-20 minutes. You switch between weight room, rowing machines, and treadmills. Don't get me wrong, it is not cheap to join and you have to be willing to plan and book classes ahead of time, but you definitely get that "community" feel and workouts are different and interesting every day! Memberships are month to month which is nice, and the best part is you can workout at any orange theory location (and they are open every day but Christmas, which is important to weirdos like me)- I have already taken advantage of this when traveling! And most importantly, I have had major results (and i was doing kickboxing fitness before this, so I am no stranger to more high intensity work outs)- TONS of inches, And 15 lbs down since the studio opened a month and a half ago! I have lots of friends who have had great results, and I am definitely a believer! read more

Orangetheory Fitness is the best workout I have ever had. I am typically a clock watcher when I am at the gym But when I am here, it goes by so fast. They keep it fun and different each workout. The music is high energy and, the workouts are high intensity. The coaches are very motivational, professional and experienced. I have a split abdominal wall ( from a twin pregnancy) and I am not suppose to do any sit-ups. They are quick to give me a modification to help me get the most of my work outs. The gym is clean and the equipment is state of the art. I started classes the first week they opened and have gone three times a week since. Not only have I lost 16 lbs but I feel stronger, I am less exhausted and more focused at work. read more

Oh Orangetheory, how I wanted to love you. I had very high hopes for this studio and joined for 8 classes a month long in advance of opening. My fit friends in other cities I have recently lived (Ann Arbor and Chicago) have had positive things to say... though in fairness not exceptional things. To me the studio is more of a 3.5 than 4 stars but considering nice studios are lacking in Eugene I'm giving it a 4. All in all the workouts are good and it's great that they use heart rate training to make them amenable to all fitness and age levels and for ideal caloric burn/metabolic boost. However, as someone who knows a novice bit about fitness I do feel like I can motivate myself to get just as good of a workout on my own at my apartment complex gym or any day out on my bike or with just some running shoes and park benches. Though as another positive their multiple tools for strength training are fun. Some days it's primarily dumbbells, others the always amazing trx bands, sometimes body weight and sometimes ab sliders. The classes fly by quickly and all the patrons (mostly women) I've met are friendly. Staff are great and helpful as well. There are often some hic ups with classes but the studio is open less than a month so hic ups can be expected for now. But with that being said, this studio seems to lack some spunk and comfort / familiarity. These are things I've primarily found at local independent studios. OTF is local but is still franchised and has much of that franchised feel. I'm not certain I could justify the class cost as a drop-in rate, especially considering with the high price a heart rate monitor or a towel are not even included. Also showers are scarce. For the next month or so I plan to continue my mini early sign on discounted package, but I have a feeling it'll be dropped sooner than I was initially thinking. I'm hoping that at some point scheduling classes becomes slightly easier or with more availability as almost all in the coming week are waitlisted... mind you, the 6a class I took a few days ago was also listed as full but there were multiple no shows... or so the total of 6 open treadmill/Rowers would suggest..... Wrap up here, if you're somewhat new to fitness or at a stalemate with workouts, OTF is definitely a good place to check out and would be a fun healthy girlfriend date. BUT be prepared to have to plan at least a week out, at least with how the schedule on mind body is currently looking. read more
