Because I'm not local here (even though I'm from here and here for a month) I couldn't do the free class to see if i would like it /sign up - i definitely would NEVER sign up here moving forward specifically because they wouldn't let me take the class and wanted to charge me $28 for a drop in- this is Stuart Florida not Los Angeles. Not to mention the other 2 new people I was with will not be back. "Corporate policy" or not, I grew up here and my family is here and I'm moving back and would have loved to sign up but I won't ever step foot in this place again. Love OTF Stuart Great studio, great coaches. I joined a year-and-a-half ago and work out 3-4 times a week. The only program I have ever stuck with this long. Workouts are always a little different so I never get bored. I've never been a jogger or a runner but the classes create this push I never knew I had. Every class i push my self and compare to my past classes; I push for higher heart rate, higher calories burned and longer time in the orange. I cannot say enough about the classes. Uses the same concept but that it is changed up just enough to keep it interesting and fun, I get a great workout, and the people have been awesome. I like that you can be at any level fitness and participate with the group and not feel inadequate, or pressured, yet they help you enough, to make sure you are getting the most out of each exercise. read more

I like that the instructors push you with encouragement! "Give it all you've got", "empty your tank", "you can do anything for one minute"! It is awesome. I recently moved here from the Woodlands, TX, where I have been going to an OTF there. The difference in how the clubs are managing COVID is startling. I have felt VERY UNCOMFORTABLE going to the Stuart location. Here's why. (1) I've been going to the 9:45 AM classes and they ALWAYS start late. So people are lined up outside, while people are exiting and they immediately let people in, so the staff is obviously not sanitizing the equipment in between the classes. (2) You are supposed to have your mask on at all times when you are not at your station exercising, so rotating in between stations, going to the bathroom, getting other equipment, etc. They are not enforcing this and many people are NOT wearing their masks while rotating, etc. (3) Sometimes the instructors are not wearing masks either. Was at a class on Wednesday where the male instructor for the most part had his mask on his chin, not covering his nose or mouth. (4) They don't have a good protocol for rotations or- it's a free for all and people are coming in close contact without masks. While they have the rowers exit through the lobby, the rest of the rotations have no order. In TX noone moves until the instructor says and they move in an orderly fashion so they don't come in contact with each other. (5) They don't control people hanging out in the lobby which is very small and don't control the number of people in the lobby. I DON"T FEEL SAFE THERE and I am going to suspend my membership. read more

Not For Everyone! Lots of Pluses and Some Cons!! My friend Angela recommended Orange Theory Fitness ("OTF") since she was delighted with her results. Angela paid $59 for the basic plan which meant she went to the gym once a week and lost 7 pounds in just once month. Hearing her results, I immediately joined but the membership fee had already increased to $69/month. I also paid $69 for my own OTF heart monitor/Activity Tracker. Day #1 my new monitor didn't work, so the staff gave me another one. Four weeks later Monitor #2 failed, so I exchanged it for another new one on a Friday. Never used it and returned it on the following Monday. I'm frustrated with the poor performance of the heart monitors so I gave up and requested a refund, the OTF manager refused. So I'm out of pocket and stuck with a device that's rated 1.5 Stars in the APP Store based on 70 reviews. The OTF pluses include caring coaches, clean facility, convenient class schedules. The cons are $69 for 4 sessions a month is pricey. If you want more sessions, you pay more! While the classes produce results for some, I need individualized tailored workouts, a minimum of three times weekly. Many 1-hr OTF sessions involve the treadmill, rowing and floor exercises. Since I walk/jog 20 miles weekly out of the studio, the treadmill and rowing are in many ways redundant and took time away from my getting more functional training. So I cancelled my membership after the first month. OTF requires giving 30 days notice so I'm forced to pay another $69 for what's not working for me. My total investment for one month is now $207, and I'm still stuck with a poorly rated heart monitor. My advice is try a FREE OTF class. If you like the program and sign up, don't buy the monitor. Rather use OTF loaners until the company works out the many software bugs and kinks. As for me, I now work out with a personal trainer 3 times a week and use a Fitbit Activity/Heart Monitor that indeed works and incentivizes me. read more
