We wanted an indie designer to create a custom thistle motif wedding suite (I live in Scotland, my now-husband is Scottish, the wedding was in Scotland and the thistle is the national flower) and "logo" we could also use for other items such as cocktail napkins and the like. Her thoughtful design set a tone of anticipation and were not only beautiful to look at but felt lovely to the touch with the letterpressing and creamy, substantial paper. Hannah sold us the vector file for the custom logo/crest design she created for us to use on those other items as we wished. She's not only very creatively talented, she's also great at listening to the needs and wants of a client as well as reading people to offer her own suggestions to make the finished work that much more special. She's warm, detail-oriented and great at communication. For custom work, we were very happy with the overall value we received relative to how talented she is. The design, color scheme, creamy and substantial paper, letter pressing...all beautiful and cohesive. Months later we're still getting compliments on the beautiful suite (including programs and menus) she designed for us. I came upon Rolling Press, that was about 4 blocks away from Staples... the super nice gentleman at the front desk informed me that they had just announced that they were going out of business and couldn't take my order, BUT referred me to Save Mor Digital Printing, which was actually much closer to my house... I thought to myself, I'm gonna come back. And I did. And I do. Whatever your shipping needs, they've got it covered. They're smart, and quick, and helpful. You're dealing with the same guys every time, instead of a different manager every week (let alone employee) because working for Fed Ex is probably awful. So now I go past the Fed Ex shop on my corner, and walk an extra 10 minutes because I'd rather deal with nice, efficient, actual people that don't seem to hate me. Sure, there's a wait sometimes because this is Brooklyn, and I'm not the only person in the neighborhood that's figured out (A) Brooklyn Postal Center is a good spot and (B) shopping local is better for everyone. I really wanted some on hand now and saw this as a great way to get some cards made sooner, rather than later. I sent my file over and Elizabeth told me they'd be ready Saturday. She walked me through bleed and how the cards would be cut, as well as offered her professional recommendation on the type of paper to offer the best result when I inquired. The price was very reasonable for that quick turnaround. To my surprise she emailed me to say the cards were ready that afternoon but we were out and I didn't see it. When I replied she was sweet enough to drop them off at my hotel but I didn't see that until much later and by then she'd left for the day.
