However, be prepared to wait in long restaurant and traffic lines to get in and park or exit a concert. Patience will definitely be needed. If you are using shared ride or getting picked up, walk to nearby Target or Ross Stores and get dropped off or picked up there instead. Although it was a Summer night, I am glad I opted for gym shoes vs. sandals, as the much used bathrooms had wet, disgusting floors and the Ladies room layout is very strange. There are two hallways of stalls but you have to walk back towards to stalls to use the hand dryers. Definitely not a well designed layout. But closed toe shoes are a must, in my opinion. For a concert (we saw Styx and Chicago) you can hear and see pretty well from section 101, Row H. Stairs can be challenging to navigate without a railing but ushers help light the stairs if it is dark. I have bad knees so I took the stairs very slow, so as not to trip...or spill my expensive drink either!

The Windy City Bulls wore Philippine themed jerseys which was pretty cool. Throughout the night they celebrated or talked about the Philippines and the history. They opened with the Philippine National Anthem followed by the United States National Anthem. For the first 2,000 fans, they gave away a toy Jeepney and if you wanted a special hat, you had to purchase it with the admission ticket. The game was entertaining and the Bulls won! What I really loved about it was it was very kid friendly and all the kids loved it. The were really involved and were into the game! The big screen and score was not over the court like most arenas, but it was off to the side. The benefit of that was the screen was bigger than the normal over the court screen. Overall, I really liked the arena, the game and the way they made it kid focused. What a great way to get the younger kids to love Bulls basketball. Parking was free and it took sometime to get out but once you got past the main lot entry, it was smooth sailing (unless you were trying to get to the 90 Interstate. I would go to another game for sure! I highly recommend going if you have little ones that loves basketball.

Basically though one of the main things you have to decide if you want to actually see the act or not. If it's classical, a picnic on the lawn maybe fine. Sound is great anywhere in the park except maybe the farthest corners. There is a usually big lawn screen for pop/rock acts, but the lawn is very crowded over there. If you want to actually see the act, you really must buy pavillion seats. Ravinia made it extra difficult after the 2026 remodel to get a glimpse of the acts while standing outside the pavillion. Otherwise I would have recommended that in the past as an option. For most acts we get to the park early, picnic on the lawn, and then move to our pavillion seats before the show starts. The picnic is fun and relaxing, and it is obviously so much less expensive than the food served in the park. Otherwise in a nutshell - Ticket prices: Fair, compared to other venues. And no gawdawful TicketMaster fees. Ticket ordering: A disaster. All tickets for the season go on sale the same day. Lawn: Nice but overcrowded. Can't see the act (except if near the big lawn screen). Very good sound. Pavilion: Very nice. 2026: New padded (wider?) seats. Excellent sound and views. Parking: A disaster, get there very early. I don't know about the train, it's not an option for me. Food and drink: Not very good and overpriced. Bring your own, it's a great perk about Ravinia actually.

The focus is on fun with a capital F. Before the band on the first night I saw them present scholarships. What a great way to give back to the community! Beyond the regular carnival activities are some very special and unique activities that make Frontier Days special. Among them are bingo, pony rides, pie eating contest, rib eating contest, cake decorating, dog frisbee, corn hole, water fights, soccer tournament, volleyball tournament, spikeball tournament, etc. The family fun stage is filled with lots of amazing entertainment such as the pet parade, magicians, reptile show, dancers, clowns, police demonstrations, and music acts. The best part of the festival for me is the Citizens with Disabilities day. This is a day where citizens with disabilities and their families can ride in the carnival without the big crowds and with accessibility considerations. While the other rink has a bit more nostalgia, I still have fond memories here too. It's not what it once was, but it still gets the job done for the basics of an ice rink. There is plenty of space all around, whether its the lobby, stands or locker rooms. It is sad that the Jerry's Pro Shop is no longer (thanks COVID), as well as the arcade that once existed in the first room to the left when you enter. I cannot speak on any of the specific programs (i.e. Renegades) since its been over a decade since I last played, though I've been few times here and there for public skates. Pricing for that seems reasonable, though I've had my own blades to use. The only negatives I could mention is that the Men's restroom is in a bit of disrepair, and that's why this review is down a star. Otherwise, it's still the same I as I remember. It's also a shame that they don't seem to have tournaments a lot, since they certainly have the space. Happy skating!
