I stayed here with my wife in the Walden Room, in early 2011. The bedroom was nicely decorated and cozy, with plenty of space and lots of light. Orchard House was just opening at the time, so some of the other rooms were works-in-progress, but it is clear the Andrew has a decorator's eye and will outfit them beautiful furniture and interesting items. The breakfast was delicious (we had waffles one morning and vegetable souffle the next), and correctly-sized (i.e. not humongously large). Being a new place, I'm sure Andrew will be working through new recipes for a while, and ironing out kinks, but there were no kinks while we were there. We enjoyed walking around the farm and meeting all of the animals. The typical measures of a B&B - the room & food - were spot-on, but the farm aspect of Orchard House is what really makes it distinctive. Two new sheep had just arrived the day we also arrived, and we spent a while just watching them chase the llamas around. Add in all the other animals (chickens, dogs, rabbits - I could go on) and it's we couldn't believe that Andrew has the time to run the B&B AND take care of all of them. I'm sure children would have a great time with the animals. We liked the distance from Columbus - it was far enough that we felt like we had escaped from the city, but was close enough that we were able to go out in downtown Columbus one Saturday night. Granville and Davidson are three miles down the road in the other direction, and I can imagine that Orchard House will soon be the top choice for Davidson parents. Overall, Orchard House is a great place to stay right now and I imagine it will only get better with time. We'll try to stay here whenever we are in the area. read more

Orchard House is not your typical B&B. I mean that in the absolute best of ways. Orchard House is a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The rooms were charming, clean, and tastefully decorated. I tend to avoid B&B stays because I find that most have overwhelming Victorian décor...much too busy for my tastes, and Orchard House was just what the décor doctor ordered. I chose the Whitman room for my stay, which I found to be incredibly comfortable. The bed wrapped it's arms around me like a cloud. The linens were soft yet crisp. The bathroom was immaculately clean and modern, complete with Gilchrist and Soames products. Interesting conversation was at the top of the order during wine and cheese hour with the wonderful proprietors, Don and Andrew. And talk about a fabulous breakfast? Try hot corn cakes served with hot pure maple syrup, perfectly done brown sugar bacon, a heaping bowl of fresh strawberries, cold fresh orange juice and hot coffee. The food is heavy on natural local products and the quality shows. Andrew also makes some killer jams in his kitchen, and I managed to take away a jar of what is sure to be a blue ribbon winner at the Ohio State Fair this year...Carrot Cake Jam. My elderly mother has managed to down the whole jar...she thinks it is just this side of heaven! My only regret was that I had to check out early when a possible appointment in Columbus became a reality and I had to quickly pack and be on my way. You can be assured that I will be visiting Don and Andrew at Orchard House again. read more

What a great place and great owners! I, and/or family members, stayed here for three nights -- the last night we rented all three bedrooms, so we had the whole house to ourselves. (It was a graduation weekend, and some relatives came later.) I had breakfast there twice, both DEElicious (and plentiful) -- although, having a sweet tooth, I'll vote for the "doughnut french toast" over the fresh corn pancakes. ;) Not to mention the home-baked cookies waiting when we first arrived -- those really hit the spot ... and the wonderful moist bundt cake on our last night. Yum! (My son reported that the breakfast I missed was also excellent - angel-food-cake french toast!) Free wi-fi was cool, and the Whitman room even had an iPad, so I didn't have to squint reading my phone to check-in for our departing flight. Everything was super clean, the beds (I was in Barbizon one night, and Whitman another night) were very comfortable, with more than enough big, soft pillows. Plenty of soap, shampoo, etc. We noticed (though didn't use) a hair dryer and iron in the cupboard. They have one of those fancy single-cup coffee brewers available at all hours, with a nice selection of coffees and hot chocolate, plus hot water and a selection of teas, and cold sodas, too! The family loved walking around the farm in the morning and "chatting" with the animals. All the amenities, friendly hosts, beautiful inside & out, and a reasonable price - I can't think of anything they're missing! read more

This is a gorgeous old farm house just a couple of miles from the beautiful village of Granville. I had the chance to stay for one night this summer, and I will definitely hope to stay here again. The whole house is devoted to guests. The downstairs is large, with a beautiful, big living room, a second living/family room, a dining room, an extra t.v. and games room, and a porch room, all on the first floor. On the second floor are the 3 rooms; mine was the Walden, which was pretty, with a detached bath. Andrew greeted me and carried my bag upstairs. He had placed freshly baked cookies out in the living/family room downstairs, as he does each afternoon. The breakfast he made was scrumptious -- corn pancakes, yum, with incredibly delicious maple bacon, and truly good, strong coffee. The whole feeling of the place was relaxed and friendly, and very peaceful. read more

My wife and I stayed 3 nights for a nearby wedding and could not have asked for more. They've got all the big things sorted -beautiful rooms, amazing home-cooked breakfasts, beautiful common rooms, all the usual amenities in high quality -but what makes this place particularly special is their attention to small details: like complimentary home-cooked pastries, quality coffees and teas available at all times; a superb and original decorative/artistic sense; Netflix and Pandora on demand; making and then turning down the bed morning and eve; and much more... And the setting is also special, with animals around but by no means invading or causing allergic reactions for my typically quite sensitive wife. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and take a walk through the fields out back before going about your business in Columbus or quaint Granville. A pleasure all around! read more

We had such a relaxing stay at the Orchard House from the moment we arrived. Made it in time to enjoy the wine and cheese hour and visit with other guests. The decor is a mix of modern conveniences, artwork, antiques and charm. Our bedroom (Whitman) was so comfortable and inviting with lovely colors, crisp and cozy bed linens and the bathroom was bright, modern and clean. We sat on the side screened in porch and watched the rain while enjoying cold cocktails. My boyfriend had never stayed in a B & B and I am so glad this was his first experience. The breakfast was wonderful with local, fresh ingredients and we watch two very new fawns eat outside the window as we ate. A tour around the grounds to meet all of the lucky animals that Andrew and Don have rescued was a special treat! Don't miss this gem! read more

After my (now) husband and I came to the difficult decision to postpone our wedding due to COVID-19, we still wanted to tie the knot on our originally scheduled day. The Orchard House partnered with a local officiant company to offer elopements during the 'quarantine'. Dean was incredibly responsive, so kind, and made our day so special. The Orchard House was well cleaned and sanitized, the pine tree grove was the perfect area for our elopement, and they even graciously hosted our pup (who accompanied us) as well. Breakfast delivered the best bacon I've ever had. I would not change one single thing about our experience at the Orchard House. It was perfect! read more

My husband and I have stayed at Orchard House a total of three times so far. We love it. The peaceful atmosphere is one that can not be found anywhere else and immediately relaxes you. Don and Andrew are incredibly accommodating with any requests a guest may have. The breakfasts and baked goods are phenomenal. Each time we return, we feel like we are coming home. We love Don, Andrew and all of the animals. If we have a question or problem with anything, before or after our stay, our emails are answered within the same day. We are definitely returning many more times. read more

Had the wonderful opportunity to stay just as the B&B was opening to the public. First guests in the Barbazon room! Well worth the drive from the DC area. The historic farm house is beautiful with some great modern amenities. Breakfast was fantastic and the hosts very welcoming. The farm was fun, great managery of animals. All very friendly. Granville is a quaint town -- Mayberry RFD still exists! Also niceto be a short drive to Columbus, OH. Highly recommended. read more

We rented the whole house as a place to convene with family and friends during the weekend of our daughter's wedding. Don and Andrew were very accommodating and flexible. My little Layla and I stayed here during our life-changing journey from New Orleans, LA to Ohio. It was peaceful and beautiful. Layla loved meeting the really really big big big dog (horse). haha Dean and Jodi were wonderful. We were extra lucky to meet "Mom" who was delightful. Orchard House was above and beyond our expectations, and so relaxing. Breakfast was phenomenal, the animals were great to watch (and we helped feed them, but that wasn't mandatory!). Great B&B. Very reasonable price. Barbizon room was very roomy and comfortable. Breakfasts were exceptional, especially the pancakes. Late afternoon wine and cheese was a perfect start to an evening dinner at one of the nearby Granville restaurants. read more
