The rooms are small, but more on the "cozy" side than the "cramped" side. Each room I've been in has been different, too, which I believe is because it's an old building and certain parts of it have been converted and renovated. Everything is nice and up-to-date. My only complaint this last visit is that the heater in the room made a tremendous amount of noise, so much so that I had to turn it off to sleep. Other than that, the bed was comfy, the linens and towels were soft and clean, and I loved that they have plush robes.

Great place for a show. Coming in was confusing. The entry is in the center and up the stairs. But we had to check in first and get our hands stamped, in the door just to the right. Friendly and helpful staff the whole time, at check-in, the door, bar, etc. Go up the stairs and there is a little landing with bathrooms and a sort of recovery room thing- didn't go in there, but looked like a place to escape the crowd and noise. Straight in the double doors is the show venue, a cool old theater. Great sound, nice lighting. Bar is up another set of stairs, with a small balcony with tables. Accessibility might be an issue; I saw no elevator though there could be one. Two sets of steep stairs were hard on an old guy with bad knees, especially coming down from the bar with drinks. Pizza and burgers, etc., at the bar, nice to have handy. Fast friendly service. Downstairs, the bar to the left of the entry looks quite nice, and they had the show on a TV. Crowd wasn't massive so you could wander up and down and enjoy all areas. Definitely would come back for another show.

The sound was pretty good, although since we were standing under the speakers, it was difficult for me to hear his between song chats with the audience. I would return. I love old places with character and this suits my enjoyment of small Indy shows.

Being that I live so closed, I've looked into its background and it's pretty cool. It's history is long and rather weird, starting way back in 1895 when circus owner Peter Sells asked a well known Columbus architect to build a home for his wife. This architect was Frank Packard and he designed the one-of-a-kind home with gothic, tudor, chateauesque styles mixed with his own personal flare, even adding circus-like touches throughout. Fun fact - This same architect build the Ohio Governor's Mansion, the Jeffrey Mansion, and at least one other in the city. The Sells mansion was on the market for quite some and it started to go a little down hill. However, it was finally purchased in 2020 and I've noticed the new owners are doing what they can to renovate and bring it back to life.
