I was polling the cities / towns around the midway point between Salt Lake City and Portland…read more Baker City, Pendleton, Boise... all priced above $200 for a place I really just needed as a crash pad. Driving towards LaGrand, this place comes up for $85 a night. I know the Rodeway Inns are pretty basic, but that's why I love Choice brand hotels. No frills. Just clean, air-conditioned rooms. The mountains surrounding LaGrand are beautiful and I read that it's also a college town. Wouldn't mind visiting again when I'm not on an 800-mile trek to get home. I'm not sure why the app differentiated first floor rooms from ground floor rooms because this building only has one level unless there are either invisible or underground rooms. The parking is free and there's plenty of spots all around the building. I was able to park catty corner to the door of my room. Wrong! You want to park immediately in front of your door to block idiots who pick that spot driving an F150 size truck in front of your room at 1 AM with their high beams on. Which, by the way, is exactly what happened. The rooms have blackout curtains, but that won't stop every particle of light out when that happens. Note for future me. You won't have issues with noisy neighbors overhead, but with only a scant 6 hours to sleep before I had to get driving again, I wasn't pleased to hear voices seemingly in my room which were probably the same idiots mentioned earlier giggling and talking but were actually next door. Walls are thin. Bring some good ear plugs, which I'm happy I did. This place fit the bill otherwise. It was a comfortable and clean place to hang out and crash for a few hours. Wifi is decent, too. And the tub is pink which amused me greatly.

The front desk was nice in the morning, but less than pleased when we showed up around midnight for our late check in. The place is clean, but definitely a no-frills Kind is establishment. Service was horrible from the front desk supervisor, Andy…read more My husband was traveling for work and staying at this hotel. After working all day, he still had a 2 1/2-hour drive and wasn't expected to arrive until after 11 PM. His company booked the room for him, so we called the hotel ahead of time to confirm everything would be okay at check-in and to ask whether my husband or his company would be responsible for the deposit. We were ready to provided all the reservation details, including the confirmation number and booking information, but Andy refused to give us any helpful information or assistance. His attitude was basically, "I guess you'll have to take your chances." Even simply looking up the reservation under the info we could provide name letting us know whether the check in would be okay would have been helpful. He could have advised us to contact my husband's employer if any adjustments were needed or clearly explained whether my husband would be responsible for the deposit. Instead, we were left with no clear answers and a lot of unnecessary stress. For someone traveling late at night for work, this was extremely frustrating and unprofessional customer service. A little communication and courtesy would have gone a long way.

The rooms are always clean, bed is always perfect, heater/air conditioning work fantastic, bathrooms are always clean, tv always works so I bring my PS5 to play games haha, they have a microwave and mini fridge that work perfectly, lots of privacy by having the curtains shut and doors locked, at night you can barely hear traffic or people around you but in the morning you're obviously gonna here the cars and trucks go by since it's the start of their work day. No complaints whatsoever, the front desk guy is always super helpful and kind to us.

We had a "pet" room that had the original green-tiled bathroom (see picture). The place looks like it was built in the 50s, and there is some deferred maintenance, but it's the least-priced motel in La Grande. My wife and I were born in the 50s, so we remember road trips to places like this, fondly. If you are coming from the West, it is the first motel you'll see. The Rodeway across the street is closed for remodeling. All the features you expect are there: flat screen TV (with more free cable channels than I've ever seen in a motel/hotel room), refrigerator with freezer, microwave, coffee maker, heater, air conditioner, and closet space with real hangers. No hair dryer. There is an old-fashioned, 6-foot-wide "mow strip" between the street and the sidewalk on the long side of the motel that has three huge trees and lots of grass to walk your dog. If you look at pictures, especially on Google street view, you will see what appears to be a pool enclosure. The pool is still there, but it's filled with dirt. The parking lot is pretty big, so you could park a trailer, RV, or moving van in it easily. Be sure to walk over to Hought's 24 Flavors for some ice cream!

It was Old, inside and out. I'm fine with the green vintage bathroom tiles but everything seemed worn and tired. The toilet was a little wobbly and the shower head leaked and water shot up to the ceiling. I am sure the floors were clean but they were so worn that I felt better keeping shoes or socks on when I walked around. The room also smelled like burnt popcorn. I know that is a smell that is hard to get rid of so in the mornings while i was eating breakfast and it was still cooler out I kept the door open. I don't know if the owners were "so friendly" as other reviews stated but they were not rude. I think they were just tired and overwhelmed. From what I could tell only maybe 4 rooms at the motel were rentable as they were working to update the others. I feel with the number of guests they can have per night and the price they can charge for the quality of the rooms they provide it may take them awhile to get the place up to making a profit. Probably none of my business but I wish them well.

It definitely surprised me in a good way, the price is good for the room, mostly because this hotel is QUIET!! there's no highway next door, the parking lot wasn't full of drunks, there wasn't people opening and closing their doors loudly all night. Plus, dog friendly! The lawns around the hotel are primo according to my dog, they're not gross and the lawns are inviting for the dogs like with rocks and spikey plants like a lot of "dog friendly hotels" have, right next to a busy road. 4/5 as motels go, it is what it is, but it's clean The actual "dog friendliness" rating is 5/5

After a long day of travel, we arrive to find out they could not find the reservation. They had my last name correct but did not have my first name and would not give me the room. Needless to say, we are not staying there. Also, they have no elevator, so I needed a room on the first floor due to medical issues. They would not give me one saying they were for people with animals only. If there are no reservations for them they why not make money and sale the room. I won't be going back. Now I have to go through the third party to get my money back. What a hassle.
