One day back in 2004 , I broke a tooth. There was a new dentist office just down the road. Dr Kim…read moreBoldt Summerside Dental . From then on, she is the only dentist I have had. Prior to her, I had some doozies of a dentist ( one who told me I had a rotten tooth and it needed pulling. I still have that tooth and it is in great shape ). Another dentist I had told me in 5 yrs I will need dentures ( I still have all my teeth ). So when I went to this office, I was apprehensive. Long story short... she saved the tooth. Since then she is the only dentist I would ever trust to work on my mouth. Her staff are amazing and take great care with their patients. Her practice has expanded quite a bit but the service is still the same. they tell you straight out and do not recommend any work that does not need to be done. If I could recommend a dentist, it is this practice. And that my friends is the tooth and nothing but the tooth !

After we were done I was put into a side room full of merchandise and was trying to be talked into buying a very expensive electric toothbrush. I kept saying I would think about it, after about 5-10 mins trying to push this product in me they finally stopped and took me to pay my bill. Second time I needed a retainer replaced for my front bottom teeth. Thought everything went well till a couple of hours later I started getting a very bad headache. Thought nothing of it. After a couple of day I went back to get the retainer readjusted. Took two separate visits till it was done right, instantly the headaches went away. About a month later the retainer broke off of my tooth and cut my tongue, so I took it out myself and threw it away. My third visit was for a cleaning and check up. All went well till the billing. They put I through and as I was about to leave I checked to see what they charged me for. Two procedures on the bill they didn't do, X-rays and fluoride. I brought this to their attention and I was told, "we'll get you next time". I believe that is insurance fraud, but what ever. Let's just say I found a new dentist in the area. Super happy now.

So I've been hearing a great deal of hype about this dental clinic from my friends, and I finally…read morehad the chance to go see it in person and be a client. After several quick and pain-free session I gotta hand it to Dr. Amr for an amazing Practice. Ok, First things first, he's got massaging and heated dental chiars ( I honestly didn't even think that was a thing), the most modern and top of the line equipment, a kid friendly waiting area set up with iPads, and he's a specialist in pain-free dental care. Today's experience was amazing, staff recognized me by name, and everything was super quick. I needed to get a new night guard for my teeth, and the standard practice is to take a concrete mold and then make the night guard from there. The process they use is they take a digital image of your teeth, then 3D Print that image, then create the guard from that print. As far as I know, this is the first Dental practice in Alberta to have such a process. I can't talk highly enough about the guy. Good, honest, and does the work needed.

I was recommended by someone to see Dr.Amr. My family and I were very satisfied with him, and was…read moretouched by his passion for providing comfort-oriented dental care (which was based on his own past dental experiences as a child). After about a year of him being our family dentist, we received a call stating that he decided not to see us because our insurance was low income (Alberta Adult Benefits). To make matters worse, he had started some dental work before making this decision, and I was unable to go back for him to complete it. I've always been a loyal patient of his, and once had to pay in part for some dental work, which I paid in full. So I found this to be very uncharacteristic and hypocritical his empathic patient - based system of care! When I had relayed this to other dental clinics, they could not understand his reasoning. Very disappointed by his lack of morale overall.

I had two sinus osseous-autografts done by Gateway Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on June 28, 2017,…read morefollowed by three implants done on Oct 24, 2017. Gateway Oral installed a 6 mm. implant on tooth 16 and installed two 8 mm. implants on teeth 24 & 26. Since then I have had two of those implants come loose and had to be removed. Gateway Oral installed one implant after the two coming loose, and it as well came loose. On Dec. 10, 2018 Dr. Mather installed another implant on tooth 16. On June 20, 2020 tooth #24 was looked at by Dr. Mather and it was loose. So far I have had three implants come loose out of the four Gateway Oral have done. Dr. Mather had told me how much the fifth implant was going to be when he pulled out the fourth implant. One week later his office sent me a notice via email of how much it would be to install a fifth implant. I did not need to be told twice in a week how much they wanted to get from me if I was to get another implant from their company. I think this was very uncaring. . I paid a professional periodontist on Aug. 26/2020 to take a scan of all my teeth to try find out what could have caused the implants to fail as no one wants to take responsibility for the failure of the implants. The periodontist wondered why Gateway Oral had not used longer implants as there was enough space for longer implants as I had, had the sinus osseous-autografts done. My dentist, had recommended Dr. Mather for the implants. I would have thought that the two doctors would have worked together to make sure my implants were successful. I talked to Dr. Mather after the three implants coming loose. He stated that he only installs 6 mm. and 8 mm.implants. I told him I have had eight implants installed, and his three were the only ones to come loose. I know my dentist used the articulating paper on all my teeth after installing the new crowns on all four implant s. Dr. Mather stated that it was my dentist's fault, stating something about the crowns not being down far enough. Since than I have had my dentist install a 10 mm. implant on tooth 16 and a 12 mm. implant on tooth 24. I have not had any problems with either implant since being installed. When they were installing the last implant again on tooth #24, the x-ray they took showed there had been a drill bit from a root canal that had broken off from doing a root canal. It had been in there for at least 10-15 years. I am surprised that Dr.Mather had not seen this on his x-ray or figured it did not matter enough to remove it before installing the implant. I think the quality of work that Dr. Mather does is rushed as he did all three implants in about two hours. My dentist installed a 10 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed a 6 mm., and a 12 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed an 8 mm. My question is why did he need to do two sinus osseous-autografts if he was not going to use longer implants. I have had to deal with the pain of having my implants coming loose, being removed and getting new implants installed over the course of the last four years. I have had to go to dentist offices more than my fair share during covid. A person should not have to deal with this kind of pain, suffering, and mental anguish for over four years. After my meeting with Doctor Mather I found him very arrogant and he seemed to believe that he can do no wrong. I would not recommend Gateway Oral for any implants.

Parking is plentiful here, it's easy to find the office, and it's very COVID prepared with spacious designated seating, hand sanitizer at the ready, etc. I also like the decor here and the fish tank was a nice distraction. They also do direct billing to your insurance provider as well. I like how both kids could be seen at the same time in the same room space next to each other. They even had parent seating for myself right where the room divider was to have a good view of both kids. I appreciate how they have little vinyl booster pillows for the seat gap since my kids are pretty small & don't quite fit the adult seat when fully reclined. They also had TV available for their favourite show while they wait & the experience comes complete with headphones & kiddie sunglasses. I love the service here, the dentists & hygienists were amazing and friendly! I have to give a shout out to Lani, she was so awesome for my youngest (who refused to open her mouth last visit)- her bedside manner was superb with my kid, showing her the tools to reduce fear, and she picked up on cues & addressed it quickly if my kid was uncomfortable at any point, even changed the polish flavour from chocolate to bubble gum mid polish, and sang nursery rhymes to my 5 year old while she worked. Even the X-rays were a breeze with the kid friendly instructions she provided. We all left happy campers that day & I am so grateful we have paediatric dental offices like this exemplary one in the city!!
