Stop trying to upsell every visit. Milking a customer for every cent is shameful. This isn't a car dealership. Used to love this place but haven't been in about 15 years because service was starting to go downhill then. When our Lab was diagnosed with cancer they tried to sell us on every single treatment. She was 10, most of these treatments she wouldn't have even survived at her age and would've have ended up cost thousands. Never take your pet here. I showed up for joint pain in my dog. They ran every test in the book without any sort of transparency and made it seem necessary, then charged us $1000 for it. We received the pain/steroid meds and got home and noticed we got prescribed ulcer medication. This had nothing to do with anything, and made my dog throw up when he took it. These people will take advantage of you. Stay away. read more

Oregon Trail Vet has been my vet when Dr. Sargent started the practice. I have been a client since then. On Monday I went to refill my 14 year old dogs Rimadyl meds that helps to get around much more easily. Been filling them for the past three years with no problem. Just call and pick up. I even signed their paperwork that allows me to do this. Monday that all changed. Oh boy has it changed.............. With all the new Young'uns in there things have changed to the point where compassion and common sense has kind of gone out the window. They would not refill unless I bring my 14 year old, 60 Lb, crippled dog in to see them! I explained I signed the paperwork so that I did not have to do that. As she has gotten older new places tend to stress her out, not even to mention a trip to the vets office! She would have a heart attack right there and never come home. PLUS I can not get her in the car to get her there. Yet if I can just give her Rimadyl she would be fine. She has lived two years beyond her life expectancy anyway, so what on earth is the harm? She is essentially on HOSPICE CARE! The attitude I got was nothing more then contempt and was told that they FOLLOW THE PAPERWORK! Ummm ok.... I was then shown at a glance the paperwork I signed, dated 2019! And ONE paragraph says she does not need blood tests anymore, yet I still have to bring her to the office for an exam? ( could not read the fine print because I did not have my glasses on) Exam for what? Rimadyl causes liver failure so they say, and maybe it does, but so does a lot of other meds, and WHAT exactly is an EXAM GOING TO SAY!? The whole point was to NOT TO HAVE To take her in. She is 14 years old for Pete sake! She is in congestive heart failure. She has the cough that goes along with it. I can not in good conscience put her thru the trauma of what they want me to do. It would kill her and I think I know my own dog best. I use to get kindness, compassion and caring from that office. Now I walk in and it cold as Ice and I do not mean temperature wise. I breaks my heart to see this happen. I was told once that if you hold the position of front office, you can either make or break that business. Jakki is the glue that has held that place together, and I have not seen her in there for some time with all these young wipper snappers taking up chair space. Dr. Mark Sargent was kind and caring when we had to make an emergency visit during a camping trip to Boardman, OR! He was thoughtful in listening to us describing Mason's symptoms and told his ideas on what those symptoms may mean. When it came time to make the difficult decision to put him down, Mark and his assistant were extremely sympathetic and allowed our other dog to be with us. Hopefully, we won't have to visit the office again, but if we're ever in need of vet services in the area we would not hesitate to stop in again! read more

If I could give this vet 0 stars I would. My dog had recently been sick. Took her here she spent a few nights there. Came back alright. Still barely eat. Took her the tri cities vet and they told me the medication they provided was the inn correct medication. My precious dog had to be put down. If it weren't for Oregon Trail vet my dog would still be here. Please don't take your pets here. Take your pets to a vet in Tri-cities. Same with good shepherd. read more

Since moving to the Northwest, I have patronized several different animal hospitals for equine, canine, and feline care. And I have officially determined that Oregon Trail is my favorite! In addition to the vaccines your companion animal needs, Dr Sargent and Dr Barton have exhibited their extensive knowledge on speciality problems as well, particularly when it comes to senior animals. (I would share the details, but that may be a HIPAA violation on my bulldog!) I am always satisfied with the positive customer service experience, as well, which not all veterinary offices provide. If you have not given Oregon Trail a try yet, I highly recommend you do - whether it is for a regular visit (ensure you make an appointment first!) or for emergency after-hour services. My pets and the rescue animals have always received the best care at Oregon Trail...even at 3am or on a holiday. My dog had to go recently because she was really ill and Dr. Barton was so kind and gentle with her. I explained how scared she was because of her senility ( he was not her regular vet). He knew right away what was wrong and did the blood work to confirm and she was hospitalized for pancreatitis. I would never go anywhere else for my animals vet care. read more

This was the WORST veterinary clinic that I have ever been to, and I've been to quite a few. I received the worst customer service ever, and I'm wondering what kind of care my beloved pet received while he was under. The receptionists were experts at ignoring the people of color. It appeared to me that they were more interested in serving their white clientele. So, any minority out there thinking about going to this vet, please avoid if you can. Interestingly enough a handful of their workers were NOT wearing masks even though they are required by the state. read more

My daughter took her dog in to get checked about her weight after it was all said and done 330 dollars for the visit and blood work they charged 160 dollars for blood work that is in my opinion outrageous I feel that they took advantage of a 17 year old worried about her dog I believe the parents should have been contacted before charging read more

We had an after hours dog injury emergency. Called Oregon Trail and reached Dr. Barton. He beat us to the office so we were able to be seen right away. Got our dog treated and were on our way with prescriptions. Price for after hours call was very reasonable. He was calm, kind and professional. I highly recommend this vet clinic! The staff is amazing and very helpful. Every time I bring 1 of my 3 dogs in, the wonderful ladies behind the desk come out to pet and love on them. My dogs also love long behind the counter to get loves from them. i took my dog here because she was dragging her back legs and could not jump. After examining her they told me she was constipated and to make her walk several times a day and charged me 300 and sum dollars then withheld one of her medications because i was 5 dollars short. After two days i could tell my dog(boots) was in serious pain so i took her to hermiston veterinarian they charged me 98 dollars and told me she had a back injury and i was making it worse by making her walk and at this point they were not sure if she would recover. thankfully she did but i dont think the place should be in business i have heard so many horror stories about this place read more

Well Dr. Blake killed my sisters kitten. the kitten was 6 weeks old and needed eye medication and they decided to deworm her, even though she didnt have worms, and the kitten had a severe allergic reaction and died. Their solution during this ordeal? Put corn syrup on the kittens tongue because she has low blood sugar. I will NEVER bring an animal here, I can't believe the low quality care my sisters cat received. read more

The Dr's at Oregon Trail Veterinary Clinic have been treating my animals since we moved to Hermiston 20 years ago. They have treated our cats, dogs and horses. They helped inspire my daughter to become a Veterinarian. She did her pre- Veterinary school required hours there and then worked at the clinic before Veterinary school.
