Great service, prompt replies to messages. Zero complaints. Had minor communication issues but…read moreowner made it right and went above/beyond to keep our patronage.

I came here to write about how far this company has fallen in quality and have found a lot of…read morereviews saying the same thing. It's sad really. Ultimately, ACA was once considered the best bang-for-your-buck yard-work service that you paid a little more for than the budget priced guys but got really quality work. Over the last few years, they've increased their prices exponentially and decreased their quality. I recognize the prices of things have gone up in recent years but there's no excuse for the terrible service. I scheduled them for a (over-priced) yard clean-up with 5 yards of mulch. Their office location repeatedly rescheduled it without informing us and I had to hound them to get answers about the availability. Eventually, the person I was speaking with even admitted they had no clue when they'd come out. Terrible communication / management that impacted what day my wife would go into the office that week. The actual work done was sub-par as well. Three folks showed up and made a really poor effort to remove weeds, leaving a ton behind, and then sloppily threw mulch on top of them, scattering it all over my yard as well. What a pain the next time a mowed the lawn! They tore out three completely healthy rosemary bushes that I used on a regular basis and completely mangled a rose bush that was a gift from my wife's grandfather before he passed away. The edging was poor and sloppy and they didn't ask anything of us. Ultimately, they got the job done and they did it on a short timeline because of rain last week having pushed the date and that's the primary reason why they got 2 stars instead of 1; but I don't know that I'll ever use them again.

I want to acknowledge that since I posted my original review, Campbell Lawn & Irrigation has made a…read morereal effort to make things right. The issues I described in my original review were frustrating, especially the missed appointments and lack of communication. That said, the company has been much more responsive and communicative since then, and they have gone above and beyond to address my concerns. I appreciate the accountability and the effort they've shown. My original experience still happened, but I also think it's fair to recognize that they have worked hard to regain my trust.

Bottom line: this is an incompetent company with garbage customer service, so please do yourself a…read morefavor and don't make the enormous mistake we made by hiring them (twice). This was the second time that we discovered that our sprinkler system was leaking after Campbell worked on it. In late 2023, their poor workmanship resulted in leaks so severe that Campbell had to generate a letter for us to send to the water company confirming that it was their fault that our water usage was so high- and not ours- so that we could ask for an adjustment to our bill. In 2025, we hired them again (I know, shame on us) to do our spring service on April 16th. The next day, we discovered that the system was leaking where Campbell had replaced a solenoid, so we immediately contacted their office to request that someone come out and quickly correct the problem. Their admin told us she would get us scheduled ASAP, but then we didn't hear from her, or anyone else in Campbell's office, for a week. On April 23rd, she finally emailed us to tell us that Campbell was unable to come fix the damage they had caused until May 8th- more than three weeks from the initial job that they botched. We called asking speak to one of the owners, Colby, but no one ever responded. On the morning of the 24th, having not received any response, I filed a formal complaint with the Virginia State Corporation Commission. I emailed the office Thursday the 24th, to advise that we had been trying unsuccessfully to elicit any kind of response from Campbell, and requested again that Colby contact me, as I had worked with him before. Their admin told me he was "in the field" and unavailable. She asked if we would be at home over the weekend so that Campbell could send a crew to fix their work, and I confirmed that we could make ourselves available. A couple of hours later, she rescinded that offer, claiming that they were "fully booked." I called to let her know that I had filed a complaint with the SCC, and she shrieked at me and hung up. After not hearing from Campbell for another four days, I emailed the other owner, Taylor, directly on April 28th to ask him to contact me. He never responded. Instead, their awful desk admin replied to me on April 29th claiming that I had reported Campbell to the "Business Bureau" (I assume she meant the "Better Business Bureau," which was false anyway, as it was the SCC) and that she interpreted that as a change in our "desire to keep the appointment," and asking me to clarify. I asked her AGAIN to have Taylor or Colby contact me, and left both of my phone numbers and my schedule. She claimed, despite their inordinately "busy" schedule, that they were both at a conference, but assured me they would contact me the next day. She then emailed me on the 30th to claim that their travel had been delayed, but assured me (again) that one of them would contact me the following day. Finally, on May 1st Taylor actually called me. I ran him through the entire summary, and he claimed he would get it fixed, and also sent me a follow-up text message claiming that he would be in touch the next day. Anyone who has read this far will know what's coming next: Taylor in fact, did not contact me the next day, May 2nd. Instead, he sent me an invoice for the still-incomplete work. Campbell didn't correct leaks in our system until May 8th, and when the tech arrived, he expressed total confusion regarding why it took weeks to send someone to complete less than 30 minutes' worth of work. Oh, but don't worry- Taylor texted me the very next day to eagerly check on the status of his payment. At this point, I was done chasing him and his company, and sent him his ever-so-precious, ever-so-sought-after check for payment in full, along with a letter expressing how disappointed we were. Save yourself the hassle and don't hire these people. But DM me if you want to see even more details, including the screenshots and time stamps for all the times I tried to get them to actually do their job.
