There were ZERO campsites available anywhere in the Catskills or Adirondacks. After looking for hours, I came across Tin Teepee website. They held their last tent site for me until I got there. The owners and employees were very friendly and accomodating. I had my two dogs with me, which can be an issue at private campgrounds. There was plenty of safe places to walk them. The staff let us know where we could go hiking and swimming too. It's mostly an RV park, but I would go back.

It took a while for us to row out…read morethere in our inflatable row boat - probably two hours - but you can rent a canoe at the ranger station which would get you out there in maybe an hour or hour and a half. It's a beautiful little private island with a pit toilet and fire pit with picnic tables. This year we spent one night at site 26, which was a little too close to other rowdier sites, and one night at 39, which was beautiful and secluded. If you're thinking about camping here but don't have a boat, rent a canoe! It's a nice way to get out to the islands and work up a sweat so you're ready to swim by the time you get to your site. Some words of advice: make sure you text anyone you need to while you're in Speculator or Indian Lake because if you need to get a hold of someone while you're camping you have to row back to shore, which could take hours if your site is further up the lake, then drive into town to get service; bring a roll of toilet paper with you if you don't want to use the cheapo single ply the whole time you're there; and lastly, really look at the map to make sure you know what you're getting into in terms of the trek out to your site! 32 is far enough that it feels remote but not so far you can't canoe there. Much further north and you're looking at hours of paddling. All in all a great spot to get away.

Some are located on islands, some on the shore along the lake. They're all extremely private but very primitive, a fire ring, picnic table and outhouse . There's also quite a few picnic areas if you're just going for the day. The staff at the campgrounds office are all extremely friendly and helpful, ready to answer any questions you might have. The lake is beautiful, with opportunities to get out and hike up a mountain or to a waterfall. If you're going to camp you need to bring all of your supplies with you, including drinking water. There are shower facilities that you can access at Lewey Lake Campground, just across the road from the Indian Lake access.

It is very very dark at night at this park. So just be aware. Obviously nothing that they can control, but when having to take your dog out at night, and all of the junk covered in tarps all around.. you tend to forget what is junk and what are large shadowy things in the night. Won't be back. They don't care if you come either. So don't bother. Much better places to stay in the area. I also feel their website is misleading. Leading with a huge picture of Lake George. You are miles from it.

You can rent mountain bikes, canoes, pedal carts, and inner tubes for little money. The nice owner was happy to explain that you should paddle up river as there you will find two little islands and the end of the northern portion of rapids. We grabbed four life jackets and two paddles. Short walk down the hill, picked up our canoe, and walked a little further down the hill to the launching area. It was an absolute beautiful canoe ride north with little resistance against the current. When we reached the two little islands, the kids and us ventured around and swam. We saw lots of birds, fish, and even turtles. We paddled to the rapids and walked around the rocks. So many trout and other fish. Water was a tad cold. It was such a great time. Paddle easily back with the current. Dragged the canoe back up the hill and returned the life jackets and paddles. The owner asked how our trip was and happy to hear the details. Next, we had a fire to cook our hotdogs and corn on the cob. Ate and read our books is the best weather ever. Then, we immediately jumped into the swimming pool for some more water fun. Everyone around here is so kind and happy. Highly recommend this for single, couple, and family camping fun. Peace and quiet with a little relaxing adventure thrown in.

The…read morelocation was perfect - it is right across the street from a great deli to get breakfast/lunch/dinner/coffee/drinks -anything you could need while being away which was extremely convenient for us during our stay. The trolley picks up/drops off right across the street or a 1 minute walk away to bring you into the town which is only a few minutes away. The 2 bedroom cabin we stayed in was spacious & the porch/picnic table out front was perfect. Cabin was nice & clean. Pet friendly & the owner even brought us over a little gate to use while we sat outside with our dog on the porch. Our cabin was right across from the pool which was VERY clean & refreshing my kids loved that pool. The best part about this place was the family who owns/runs it- they work so hard & were so helpful & friendly. During our stay the AC started not working as well (it was super hot muggy July) the owner came immediately to our cabin & REPLACED the AC unit to a brand new unit - it was nice & cold after that. I couldn't believe the service - you can tell they truly care about their guests. Up the hill they had a swing set, basketball court, volleyball net- fire pit, grills, a zip line. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around & play. My daughter rode her scooter around at the top of the hill and other kids had bikes. We stayed Monday-Thursday in the middle of July & it was very peaceful & quiet while still giving that fun family friendly vibe. You can tell this is the type of place that once you stay here it will become "your place" year after year & we will definitely stay here again !! I wish I took more pictures of the place but I'm not usually a reviewer so didn't think about it but this place deserves the shout out !
