This has been a weird experience for sure. I actually got this Groupon from a roommate. First visit was great. Jose was knowledgeable about muscle/pain trigger therapy and helped me a lot from my injury. He got me to spend $300 on a 5 package deal. I booked an appointment recently and went today for my 3rd visit. He didn't text like he used to. His neighbor said that he's been gone for a month now. His cell was no longer in service, and no one knows where he went off to. He did say that he used to be in Special Forces from some South American country. After checking yelp just now...I guess something either happened to him or we were all conned. I bought a Groupon deal for this place last year or so and I needed a massage, so I called to make an appointment last month Feb 19th. I left a voicemail with a contact number so they can return my call. After a week, nothing. I called again after two weeks, out of business? No reply. I messaged them on yelp, still Nada. Now I'm thinking, it gotta be fraud. I called Groupon and told them what happen and they said they will try to reach out to the business. After a week, no news from Groupon so I emailed them. They said sorry, but it will take awhile. At this point I'm freaking done, told Groupon to refund me and I said deuces to this place. After about a month of trying to booked an appointment, some guy from the business by the name of Jose Machado texted me. Lol He didn't even call me. Wow. He said sorry "but sometimes business are sick too and need time for healing." His exact text, at this point I'm dying of laughter. I really enjoyed my stay at Organic Healing Therapy. I went in for the 60-minute massage deal on groupon for $49. The package deal came with an aromatherapy steam that was amazing! If you're like me where you get claustrophobic in a sauna, but would like to enjoy the benefits of a body steam, and pore purifier, the aromatherapy steam is for you! It is a hot box where your head sticks out, so as your body is dripping sweat, your head is free and able to breathe easily and not feel closed in. The great scents of aromas relaxes you. I got the massage done by Jose, who is great! He knows his stuff and knows exactly what he is doing. He makes you feel comfortable and safe, which is something I respect so much. He worked a lot of great kinks and made my body feel so relaxed. He even found triggers in my muscles that I didn't even know was there until he worked on it and made it feel instantly better. The view of the water was really beautiful and calming. Although the place is small, it's a growing and building company. I would def go back! read more

I'm not a typical yelper and it usually takes an above and beyond experience for me to post a review. However, I must admit Organic Massage Therapy is one of the best massages that I've had. I use to frequent various massage locations based on scheduling convenience, location, and price. Its not until I encountered Jose's muscle and nerve massage therapy that I will not go anywhere else. I'm an avid fitness enthusiast and will normally seek Jose's services when my muscles are so sore that its borderline bothersome painful. With that said, I highly recommend Jose and his massage therapy business. When he works on me, its no joke! Dont expect a relaxing type of rub down massage. It's serious business. He is very knowledgeable and explains how all the muscles, joints, bones, etc., work together to support your body, including identifying why you are experiencing pain and what to do to help out your form and work on all the knots and tension your muscle tissues are feeling. I have had lower back pain for 10 years now. Doctors have generically diagnosed and treated me for "sciatica" & I am now in my 30s. I live every day in a certain amount of pain. However, after just one session with Jose I feel a shocking difference. Of course I'm not healed, but I FEEL better. He is obviously incredibly knowledgable about the interconnectedness of the human body. He was able to tell me where I felt pain on a very specific level based on the length of my toes! the place looked really dirty but my massage therapist was good, I think his name was John. I just wish he would stop asking so much questions and just focus on the massage. I definitely think they can do a better job at cleaning or sanitizing the place. the body streamer was great but I was a bit gross out about it. and the location kind of suck bc there is a daycare or elementary school next door, the whole time I was there all I heard was kids screaming. One thing that got to me the most was the lady that checked me in, she kept "shhh-ing" me when she was showing me around. she did the most talking but once I had a questions she "shhh" me. like wth. probably won't be going back bc I was just grossed out by the place but I must admit John was pretty good. read more

If I could sum up my review into one word it would be 'nah'. The lady who gave me my massage didn't seem to know what she was doing. I didn't even know a massage can be that bad. Not to mention she didn't even use massage oil. She used a lotion that seemed like it was from the dollar store. Please save your money or go somewhere else. Stained carpet, plastic slider doors, "gas station bathroom ", could hear children screaming/playing the entire time, staff not professional. I had a wonderful experience today! The guy that worked on me was amazing. He worked on three problem areas, the worse being my knee. I was limping when I went in and walking with no limp after I left. He helped me to understand more about massages than I've ever known. It's not the most modern looking place but it's nice. As a serious athlete my entire life, I have had a lot of body work. Jose is, hands down, by far, the best body work I have EVER had. He is a true healer, and I like that he can explain to me what he is doing, and why. As a personal trainer, this really interests me. Jose addresses the nervous, muscular, skeletal and lymphatic systems comprehensively and I have never felt better. Had a hard time finding the place. The place has no frills. Just a big empty room and one table. Music was nice. But I didn't find this place for candles, frills, etc. I found this place for real hard pain relief type of massage and that is exactly what I got. Jose really seem to know a lot but in talking with him, he hasn't found that perfect place where he can settle down and give a nice massage. The picture on here isn't the same place. In a mean while, this place will do. I bought a Groupon deal but had no trouble getting in since you can make an appt online. Go for it. This guy knows what he is doing. I desperately needed a massage so I found this one on groupon and it was so close to my house which was convenient. I wish I knew the name of the lady who helped me today. My massage was great and I felt so relaxed after. She also made me feel incredibly comfortable the whole and worked out kinks I didn't even know I had. Jose took a $500 check from me for 10 massages. I had 2, he cancelled the 3rd and we rebooked. He never showed up, and has not returned a single phone call since, that was a month ago. I have no idea what happened to him, and he owes me $400!!! I'm reporting to the Better Business Bureau. There were multiple other red flags. First time I saw him was in Alameda, then he moved (after I bought a package) to a pretty seedy location, next to a parole officer near Fruitvale Bart station. It was absolutely freezing in the new space, with no blankets, but he insisted he would be fixing it up, and today was just the first day (he should never have brought a client there...) The pictures on the website don't look anything like the old space, and certainly not the new space. In retrospect, I should've followed my gut and not gone with the package- but he gives a good sports massage and really did help my back. Too bad he's either a crook, or completely unreliable. It's too bad, because I prefer to go to CMT that doesn't work in a spa- but he made it a very sketchy experience in which I lost $400. read more

He has no bed side manners and can be very unprofessional. He has this lame excuse he needs clients to be fully naked even though he was only treating my shoulder. He made comments about my body and acts like a child when he does not get his way. He stopped leaving the room for me to get dressed/undressed. I lost $350 because I was only able to complete 3 of the 10 package deal that cost $500. I kept setting appointments using the site and they were confirmed but then no one would be at the business. Jose is amazing! He knows exactly what he is doing! He explains what issue is causing pain and fixes it. I had a problem with my arm - it used to get numb during sleep. After just one body work session with Jose I don't have that problem anymore! He's a true healer. Now both my husband and I get massages at his studio. I agree with previous reviews that his place is not about candles and stuff like that but about great massage one gets. Online booking is very easy and convenient. He's recently moved to a new location close to Fruitvale Bart Station, which is very convenient for those who use public transportation. I highly recommend Jose to everybody! Jose is seriously a miracle worker and I feel so fortunate to have found him. He gets to the root of the problem and I would say that his technique is a bit hard to describe but I trust him completely. He uses his incredible depth of knowledge and intuitive understanding of the body and its energy systems to heal. This is absolutely hands down the best body work that I have ever experienced. For a $40 groupon deal, this massage was really good! Jose genuinely cares about your wellbeing and is not one of those massage therapists who makes you feel good during and massage and then try to sell you more sessions. He was very patient and we spent quite a while talking about my symptoms, as I have been having a lot of pelvic and back pain and digestion issues in the past couple of years. The trigger point massage was quite intense and wasn't very comfortable. It left me sore but my muscles felt a lot loser. I would go back again but probably won't choose the aromatherapy again because it didn't feel very sanitary to me to sit naked on a toweled chair in a plastic box where probably a hundred other people have also sweated in. read more

This is an extremely long overdue review of this place as it has taken me a while to process what happened during this massage--I felt very violated and uncomfortable, and I urge everyone to stay clear of Jose. There were so many red flags during this massage, and I kept beating myself up for not just getting up and walking out. The first thing he did was comment that I must not get massage much because I kept my underwear on, which I felt was kind of inappropriate and weird. Then as he was massaging me, he told me how many inches he was from my "private parts" and asked if that was okay. When I told him "I guess but please no closer than that," he listened for a while. But eventually he inched closer and was massaging my inner thigh hip crease. I asked him to please move his hands, and he became very defensive. After the massage, he continued to defend his massaging, saying that he used that technique on female soldiers when he was in the army and on his mother "to control her hormonal moods."
