The Cajun Cafe which is really Lizzy's Cajun Restaurant who is NOT on GrubHub! Eric Johnson is a fraud! Operating under The Cajun Cafe!

PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THEM. I placed an order which I thought was thru Lizzy's Cajun Cafe. My order was wrong, nasty misrepresented and they ripped me off for $76. After calling Lizzy's and giving a negative review, they called and told me that they're not on GrubHub. This guy is mispresenting himself under the name of THE CAJUN CAFE with Lizzy's Cajun Cafe. He is fake and will be reported! PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. THEY ARE POTENTIALLY IN TROUBLE LEGALLY FOR MISREPRESENTATION!!!!!!!! Lizzys Cajun Cafe does not deliver. After speaking with THAT owner, I found out ERIC JOHNSOBIS A FRAUD! Lizzy's is not on GrubHub and Eric is selling food under THE CAJUN CAFE which is not Lizzy's Cajun Cafe that is not on GrubHub. Eric is ripping people off. DO NOT ORDER FROM HIM IF YOU Want to order from LIZZY'S CAJUN CAFE. Eric Johnson is advertising under THE CAJUN CAFE when it's really ORGANIC MEALS TO GO.....BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

    Macaroni and Cheese

My first order excellent Custumer service and food quality. I definitely recommend this place.

Filet mignon $75. Overcooked. Bland sides. Why weird beans as a side?

The $75 filet mignon was tough and overcooked. I ordered "medium rare." Came with bland side collard greens and weird beans. The $35 shrimp Louie was disgusting, and I couldn't eat any of it after one bite. The lettuce was soggy, ingredients had a refrigerator flavor and shrimp had a thawed texture, and bland except for the rancid crab! I'm disappointed. This restaurant used to be much, much better. Prices are too high for this lazy effort. I won't be spending anymore here.

Cardamom and blood orange are both easily overdone, but not in this case. Extremely well executed. I think the vanilla bean worked behind the scenes to help mellow everything out. Yum. To the server's credit he not only brought another, but to it off the bill-an impressive gesture. Unfortunately, the second one was just okay. It was significantly less than deli's in LA and NY. The latke and pickles were really good so it wasn't a total disaster. As to whether we return is up for consideration. At over $25 for a sandwich, it may be unlikely? I was so impressed with the delivery service, and my kit arrived in a nice insulated reusable Kitchen Doula bag. The hearty soups and stews came in so clutch for me during those early newborn days and long nights at 3am, when feeding time for baby came around and I was starvvvvinggg (and cold scurrying down to my kitchen in the odd hours of the night). I loved the nourishing cock-a-leek soup paired with a side of the plain biscuits...my husband and I were practically rushing to beat the other to the last serving of it because it was so nourishing and yummy (of course, I always got the seconds). We had a variety of the other staple soups, and I appreciate how diverse the options are on their site...you can't get bored with the selections. A couple years later, I have found myself riding the waves of the cold/flu season (which seems to keep cycling back in our household especially with a toddler in preschool passing germs back and forth), and I am needing to have nourishing, fresh, and warming soups to help bring comfort...and Kitchen Doula, we meet again! This is now my go-to recommendation for new mamas, parents, or peeps, just needing to find some relief in the food they eat, in a way that feels good to put into your body and to spend your money on. I liked the long-time manager Michael (now many years retired). I was out of state for about 10 years, and returned a few years ago. I have dropped in here now and then for an item or two (or just to use the restroom, which is always very clean), and left empty-handed each time because the prices are laughably exorbitant. You can tell a lot about a business - grocers or other - by the mood or attitude when you walk in. I don't know if employees have been burned by bad customers or if it is just more post-pandemic 'Weltschmerz,' but whenever I stopped in here I never felt welcomed, or as though the staff actually enjoy working here. I hear no customer-staff friendly banter, see hardly any smiles. It is just stony-faced, entitled (mostly white) people getting what they need, not interacting with or making eye contact with others, much less exchanging smiles or friendly "hellos." It is one more example of the bratty coldness that has taken over most of Berkeley, which breaks my heart. This used to be a lovely market to call my "neighborhood market," but absolutely no longer is. Before any employees or the manager chime in with a response to defend their laughably exorbitant prices by reminding me of how small a market they are - whoa there, little kitties - your prices are still higher than Monterey Market up the road or another employee-owned market, Berkeley Bowl. I can't even afford to puchase a bottle of mustard here, and must get it at Trader Joes. Be honest: This market is for VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE ONLY or for people who DON'T MIND MAXXING OUT THEIR CREDIT CARDS HERE so that they can feel like one of the "cool kids" for shopping here. Your produce is beautiful, your shop very spic 'n span clean, I appreciate that you offer non-GMO and Fair Trade groceries, but you could do better, truly, by making the less-than-ridiculously wealthy people feel more welcome here. You'd have to care about us first though.
