The $75 filet mignon was tough and overcooked. I ordered "medium rare." Came with bland side collard greens and weird beans. The $35 shrimp Louie was disgusting, and I couldn't eat any of it after one bite. The lettuce was soggy, ingredients had a refrigerator flavor and shrimp had a thawed texture, and bland except for the rancid crab! I'm disappointed. This restaurant used to be much, much better. Organic Meals and Chef Eric made me look like a rockstar. I was tasked with setting up meals to be delivered for a week to a colleague recovering from surgery. She has special dietary restrictions and post surgery I was assuming even more limitations. Onto to the web to search and I came across Organic Meals to Go. I sent an inquiry and I received a reply within the hour as well as a text in case it would be easier for me to connect that way. Chef Eric was extremely responsive, helpful, and accommodating throughout the entire process. I was not so fortunate to taste anything but I heard it was beyond fabulous. Alright, so I got in touch with Chef Eric because my brother and his partner just had a baby, and life in the times of Covid offers some unique challenges regarding travel and seeing/supporting people (especially when I live on the other side of the country). Enter: Chef Eric. I found his business when trying to figure out creative ways to have meals delivered to them that didn't involve just sending them pizza all the time. From beginning to end, Eric was super responsive and informative. I sent them a lasagna (that, tbh, I'm dying to try because it looks so good). The process was so easy: we had a quick phone call to discuss customizations to it, chatted for a bit, paid, and the rest was out of my hands. Eric delivered the lasagna, and I got nothing but rave reviews from them, and heavy hints that maybe they'd like another some day. :) Eric, thank you! However, organic meals to go has made my life easier so I can spend more time focusing on my patients and enjoying life, versus chopping up veggies or trying to remember special ingredients or researching the best organic fresh produce. I have used Blue Apron, Plated, Hello Fresh, WWFresh (Weight Watchers), which were all great companies however I do enjoy supporting local businesses. With Blue Apron, many of the recipes were great but I still had to chop, sauté, slice and dice. I also felt pressure to cook all of the stuff before it would go bad, feeling guilty when I'd open my fridge. Not a good feeling. ARGH! With most of these delivery services, I'd sign up with a discount code and then I was automatically on a plan. However, being on a plan where it was automatically renewed on credit card was frustrating because sometimes I'd want to cancel but the next delivery was on its way but I was going to be out of town or working late. Then I'd have to have my neighbor pick it up from my doorstep. UGH! Ok, Iget it. I do understand these are national businesses but it's hard to keep up with all of that. It was supposed to make things easier for me, but it didn't. It was hard to talk with a real live human being, which took valuable time. Time you can never get back. I am trying to make my life easier for 2018, okay?! It does make a BIG difference being able to talk directly with the person who is in charge. The owner clearly has a lot of pride in what he does and he is easy to communicate with. The chef has prepared excellent dinner meals for me. He has a nice personality and validated my challenges and honored my expectations. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. It is fresh and organic. Chef Eric is a very nice person. We tried for four weeks of 5 meals each week. Though I have no doubt the meals were organic they were so bland I frequently added the spices when I heated them just so they would be some flavor in there. When I commented on this he replaced flavor with jalapeños or red peppers So hard I could hardly eat them.. My version of flavor is not just heat. I just ordered from Organic Meals To Go for the first time last week. A friend and co-worker was recently diagnosed with cancer and a group of us organized a plan to arrange meals for him and his family during the course of his treatment. My turn was on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. As I was going to be out of town for the holiday, I needed to find a place to deliver In Berkeley and had a heck of a time finding any place that would deliver as it was the day after the holiday. After much searching on Yelp, I found Organic Meals To Go. I really liked the idea of organic meals for my friend given all the toxins he will build up in treatment. So I called and Chef Eric answered the phone. He spent a lengthy period on the phone with me listening to what I wanted for my friend and explaining his philosophy and approach. We aligned and I made my order (cheeseburgers, macaroni cheese, and the Ginger Pumpkin Spice Pie). On Friday I got a text from Chef Eric confirming that he had delivered the food. I called my friend to follow up and he spoke glowingly of the food (best burger he's ever had!). All I can say is that the experience from start to finish was stellar. I was overjoyed to find a place that offers delivery food that isn't mid-grade Chinese, or consumer-style industrial pizza. The food is fresh, high quality, and well made with organic ingredients. Executive chef Eric Johnson (who delivered our first meal personally!) has an inspiring story, and an obvious love of his work. The downsides are that the prices are very high (dinner for two with tax and tip came to $92 last time I ordered) and the food, while well made, is not particularly exciting. That said, the ability to order salmon stuffed with feta and kale, or dungeoness crab fried rice, or coq au vin at 2:00am on a Sunday night more than makes up for these shortcomings, and I'll definitely be ordering from here again. read more

This is probably the most horrible idea I to go on with this. We had a Groupon that was $25 off. Let alone the pricing of the mules is outrageous I cook myself and I know all about food and pricing and such. I've never seen such outrageous prices I don't care if it's organic or not. It should never be this expensive. We got the 40 clove chicken which was not that much, and had too much spice to it to where it was unbearable to eat the asparagus was covered in chili flakes, and rice in pepper. The burger was ridiculous there is no flavor there was too much mayonnaise on it it was unbearable to eat because all I tasted was mayonnaise. I didn't even get cheese because that was another $5 and the spurger was the most outrageous overly priced Burger I've ever seen in my life. The most upsetting thing is the fries were those frozen fries that you get in the red bag at any store. I know those were not fresh whatsoever and I'm paying over $30 just for this burger and I get frozen fries with no flavor and clearly anyone would know it's not fresh handcut fries.
