The Tonga Room is located in Nob Hill inside the gorgeous Fairmont Hotel. You head downstairs and you are transported to a tropical paradise. You can choose to sit at the bar or reserve a table where you will be charged $20 per person for entertainment. The entertainment is WELL worth it. The Island Groove will keep you jamming and dancing and laughing all evening. They do take small intermissions, so save your conversations for then. The band is definitely the highlight here. We had lots of yummy drinks and a plethora of dishes on our last visit. I tried the Wiki Wiki, Dark & Foggy, Fair Fashioned, and ordered a few Manhattans and Maker Marks as well. The drinks are good and they definitely help get you into the vibe! I also sampled the Luau bites, mushroom fried rice, kalua pork and spicy basil chicken. The food was ok. There was a unique sauce that accompanied the plantain chips I ordered but it's a big order so unless you're sharing with the table, I don't recommend it and the sauce portion needs to be much bigger. There was a woman at the table next to us who had a dog that was definitely not a service dog and I have no issue with that. As a matter of fact, I checked prior to coming to see if they were dog friendly hoping I could bring my small dog and I was told they are not. However it seems to be at the discretion of staff on duty so I would double check if you want to bring your dog. Honestly it was a bit loud and rowdy anyway so I'm glad she was safe and cared for at home. I really liked how attentive the staff were. They checked on us regularly and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. When people from the bar tried to come sit at empty tables at the end of the evening, staff were very good about shooing them back to bar area as you pay a premium for the tables and the view from them. It's an enjoyable experience and I will definitely be back again, although I may just enjoy the bar and the dance floor next time.

The front part is a bar area with lots of tables and seating and outdoor seating as well. Since it was before the concert, we were able to enjoy some food and drinks from the bar and kitchen. It was also during their Happy Hour too which was great. My boyfriend got a drink (not sure what it was, but it was refreshing and citrus tasting?) and we shared a Bavarian soft pretzel with mustard and we got the white cheddar dipping sauce added on for a nominal fee. They do a great job of mixing it up from classic bay area, to classic hip-hop and RNB and then back to current hip-hop and RNB. Drinks are usually hit or miss but bartenders, at least the lower level ones, are gorgeous babes.
