Oriental Market on Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, NC is an awesome one stop shop for incredible Asian delights. My favorite is the plain roasted sunflower seeds. The best I have ever eaten. My wife and I bought mixed seafood packets to make a stew to go with pasta. It was delicious. You might want to try the Ube ice cream pop for a true international flavor. They have a large variety of food and gift items to enjoy. Give them a try. The owner is a very kind and sweet woman. Oh my lord! Out of all the Asian markets in town this is the closest I could find to something equivalent to H mart! Not only are they set on snacks, produce and sauces, but also kitchen utensils AND they have the thinly sliced brisket/pork belly commonly used for kbbq and hot pot! This is my go to market for Pinoy goods. They have variety of goods such as dried fish, labuyo sili, spaghetti sauce, taro leaf for my laing, kids fave pinoy hotdogs, ube ice cream and other San Miguel products just to name a few that I normally picked up from the store. There are some other asian products available in the store. Then, if you're hungry try the restaurant next door for some Filipino food. read more

Please be careful while shopping here. Although they have a large variety, many things are expired. I managed to find a handful of things I needed that luckily weren't expired. HOWEVER, I was over charged on a few items and when I tried to correct the cashier she said no that's the price (even though there was a lesser price tag on the boxes) Really shady! Moved to the area from Orlando, FL and was worried about not having a local Asian market to grocery shop at until a coworker told me about this place! I had found a local Filipino owned market but it was about 1/4 the size of this one. Oriental carries all the classic snacks, drinks, and most importantly, all my seasoning packets and sides to make pho at home! Average run of mill Asian market. A lot of their inventory is old so be aware that you should check the expiration dates on their products before you buy. The older lady that is a clerk is a little bit rude but the younger clerk was very accommodating. This is probably the best Asian market in Jacksonville. read more

Its no 99 ranch but hey its the only REAL oriental market in jacksonville. You can find so many etnic food items/sauces/spicces that you can't find at your local grocery store.You could buy$1.00 soy sauce at walmart but it won't be as good as golden mountain soy sauce i'll tell you that! So the prices are a little marked up but its still pretty cheap!. You gotta understand they are not a corporate chain and have to make a profit on the cost of shipping of the products to the middle of no where. Shoot I dont care! I love shopping here I know my asian products and If I have to pay a little more because I am out in the middle of no where to get it that is fine. The owner is really nice too. For an oriental store in the middle of Jacksonville, I was impressed. Sure, it's not as big as 99 Ranch, but i feel you can still find what you need to make your home cooked oriental dishes. According to my friend, they've expanded since the last time he's been here. They mainly sell dry goods, like spices, noodles, and snacks. Their snack section is extensive! They had all my favorite Japanese snacks like Meji chips, Hello Panda, and Pocky. They also had a variety of cold drinks from thai tea to grass jelly drinks. I also saw a variety of pre-packaged mixes for Filipino dishes like Sinagang. Their produce selection is limited as well as their freezer section. With the expanded space they were able to set up an area to sell non-food items like clothing, brooms, and trinkets. This place has a little bit of everything. Great find today! read more

If you have access to the commissary, I would definitely suggest going there first before coming here for your Asian food needs. For what it is, it is very extensive when catering to all that is Oriental. From Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, and even Middle Eastern goods, there's a little bit of everything. Typical sauces and snacks can be found here as well. There are even non food items available. Asian cosmetics? Got it. random Asian apparel? Yup. My only gripe are the prices. I thought I was going to save some money by shopping here first. Prices are pretty much doubled here. For example, a bottle of soy sauce here is $2.99 vs. $1.00 on base. read more

Oriental Market. I like this place. You can find what you need to make most Asian/Pacific island dishes at home. They have a great variety of snacks too. They have dishes and pots, over overly priced chopsticks, and great frozen foods selection. The only complaint I may have is that.... you need to look at expiration dates carefully. I love this store. I frequently shop here for Thai curries, noodles and various condiments. They've never failed to have what I need. The lady who works there is always really friendly and has always been happy to help me find the things I needed when I couldn't. The prices are also really fair. The selections are great. We go here all the time and never really check prices or receipts but always walked away thinking, "wow, that added up quickly!". Today, I thought that again and lo and behold, we had been charged an extra $9 and did not receive the receipt. That was enough for me to systematically add up everything, realizing there had DEFINITELY been a mistake so I turned around and she promptly refunded me $10. I wouldn't have thought anything of it except I remember reading some of the other reviews and got suspicious. Its not fair to accuse her of intentionally over-charging w/o solid proof but combined with the other reviews on here, I felt it would be fair to mention it. I gave the place 3 stars because the prices are decent and she IS a small business with great selection. I can't prove any of the allegations but it has raised a red flag to at least carefully track the prices of everything I pick out. I plan to continue to shop there but will ALWAYS know the total independently of her manual inputs to the register. It honestly could have been a mistake and I would hate to hurt a business' reputation for an unintentional mistake. She is very busy there and by herself, juggling a lot of different things. It's no Ranch 99 or Marina but for being in a place like Jacksonville, this place is a great substitute when you're away from home and more accommodating retail. I was able to find most of the essentials though, some of the frozen goods did look a but old with an excess of frost...I was able to find a great deal of my favorite snacks and sweets. Even my mum was able to find her black sesame seeds to make my favorite dessert from scratch. Hmmm...I wouldn't expect too much help from the owner/staff if you don't know what you're looking for or can explain it the T. One of my friends went there on her own and she realized it may not be a place to go on her own until she's more familiar with the products...I am proud she ventured it out on her own though! :) read more

I love what they have here for asian selection. I was a little thrown off walking in and you see the asian food and then you look to the side there are wigs and hair extensions. The only fresh produce they had were shallots. I know running a business is hard and you have to try selling new things. But, hair? Okay. I'll just be in the food section, bowls and checking out. They do have cookware, some utensils, limited decorative supplies, really cool kids chopsticks with plastic figures to hold the tops together. I would come back to buy those for my boys. read more

Owner/cashier is a crook. Beware. She makes up cost; picked up a small bag of bean sprouts she had in the counter-maybe half pound, if that, and she charged me $2.40. I said that seemed awfully high. She ignored me, quickly took my cash I had in my hand and gave me the bums rush. Will never go back! As I told my friend later, her neighbor had said that she bought some items there and found out later that they were WAY beyond the expiration dates. So, you've been warned.
