The food is insanely overpriced, that's what Newnan gets for no competitors. It is $2 cheaper in San Francisco for onigiri This place is not clean enough to charge those type of prices . I picked up a small Flan it was $9! The Bah mi sandwiches were sitting on top of a crate on the floor . The onigiri was sitting out on a metal rack in a dollar store basket . I dropped in to look around after a doctor's appointment nearby and was impressed by the variety of the staples. This place is okay considering that it's the only Asian market nearby. I love spring rolls but their it's always ripped and not enjoyable to eat. This is a Vietnamese roll and immediately Vietnamese. The marker itself is cramped but you can still get through the isles. They have everything you could expect as far as groceries. The food that they make is what sets them apart from the other Asian markets in the area. This place has the best boba in town, hands down. The drinks are a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. The brown sugar milk tea, honeydew and taro are my personal favorites, but everything we have tried is delicious. You can get drinks blended or iced with a huge variety of drink and add in options. Oriental Marketplace is truly a wonderful find! It's fully stocked with a variety of Asian staples and fresh produce. They also occasionally carry local Filipino baked goods. The smoothies here are fairly priced. I've enjoyed their bánh mì (I prefer the special over the tofu) and shrimp spring rolls (the peanut sauce is very tangy). And I looked forward to trying their halo halo the next time I visit. The staff is mostly high school students but they're all very polite and competent. I had an issue with being charged twice for an item on one of my visits, and they resolved it quickly and politely even though they were extremely busy. Almost immediately, Acelyn and I made plans to pick up some groceries and grab a gallon of Wintermelon Tea with LOTS of boba. I was introduced to this place around a decade ago when our culinary class at the local college was studying Asian food. Any ingredients we couldn't find at the chain supermarkets were found here. My Filipino mother has been shopping at the Oriental Marketplace for many years as they always have the ingredients she needs to make her yummy Filipino dishes. I finally went last week with my mom and I was able to purchase some sauces that I normally go to Super H markets to get. Now that I know I can get them right here in Newnan, I am so pleased. I also decided to indulge and ordered a Halo Halo (mix mix) Filipino dessert...I was not disappointed! Halo Halo is a mix of fresh fruit, such as mango, coconut strips or coconut gel, ube, flan....pretty much whatever you think tastes good you can add. I'll have to go back to get another. They also serve many flavors of the Bubble Tea. I haven't tried them yet but I plan to soon. I have friends that swear by them. Something I didn't realize was they also serve Vietnamese sandwiches, Banh Mi. I tried the BBQ Pork and it was delicious! So fresh and tasty. If you have a hankering for fresh spring rolls, yup, they have them, too! I bought another Filipino dessert that they make fresh there known as Kutsinta, which is a steamed rice cake. They served it with coconut flakes and man, they were good! They look like little peanut butter cups as they're steamed in small ramekins. So delish! I'm only giving them 2 stars because the bbq pork banh mi was good. I came to visit my family and decide to grab boba with my brother and sister. We all ordered Jasmine milk tea with boba from here and the guy that works there with slightly long hair did a horrible job at making the tea. It was bland and tasted like water mixed with milk. I think they need to do a better job at training their worker at making drinks. I'm not trying speak badly of this place because of the reviews but I was really disappointed that day. Summary: Despite the name that sounds like it was named by someone with no clue what Asian food is, Oriental Marketplace is a hidden gem in Newnan, with amazing boba tea and banh mis, as well as a grocery store. Get some Vietnamese sandwiches and coffee and sit outside, or get them to go! Also they have a Yelp Check-In offer! Don't make the same mistake and I did and use it. Came here on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. There's a decent sized grocery store, with your typical Asian grocery store fares. There's a menu on display as soon as you walk in, with several sacks of Jasmine rice for sale underneath. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out while you hang out around the counter. I got the tofu banh mi and Vietnamese coffee with boba. My friend got the same sandwich and a Hula-Hula, which I'd never tried. I'm usually a 2 banh-mi-minimum-kinda guy because I have a huge appetite, but decided to try the tofu sandwich before getting another one. The food came out within 10 minutes, which we used to browse around the grocery store. To eat, we grabbed a table outside in the sun, which in January felt food. The sandwich was amazing and super-fresh tasting. Even the picked carrots and vegetables tasted fresh! The baguette was the perfect amount of crispy and not flaky. The tofu banh mi was the best tofu banh mi I've ever had and I'd highly recommend it--the best part was it was huge and I didn't need another one. The coffee was also great, but a little stronger than I'd have liked (very strong coffee taste). I'd also recommend the Hula Hula, if you've never had it. Very fruity, a Fillipino specialty with jelly and tapioca and boba. Pretty large and a little sweet for me, so I'd recommend splitting it. read more

I returned to Oriental Marketplace today to get more bubble tea and ask them where I could find Pho in Newnan. As I got inside the door I saw a small box labeled "pho hoa - Vietnamese special spice for pho." So I grabbed it, put it on the counter, and the very pleasant lady showed me what else I need to make my own pho: A beef flavor paste, rice noodles, and meat. I had to pass on the meat because I'm on the road, but I should be able to build my own pho once i return home. Just smelling the sealed box of pho hoa makes my mouth water! By itself, it won't help me satisfy the pho jonses I get from time to time, but I can now make my own. And if I need to, I can find restaurant quality pho in Peachtree City. I love Oriental Marketplace! I'm so mad at my friends from college for not telling me about it when we were IN college over 10 years ago! I didn't find out about it until I moved back to Atlanta 3 years ago. Better late than never, though. I love that they have boba & halo-halo AND the Filipino drink, sago! Sago is my favorite and reminds me of home. My favorite boba tea flavor is the house tea with almond flavor. Not alot of boba places offer almond, and that's one of my favorites. It's also great that they offer banh mi & other foods at times, as well. It's definitely more than a marketplace. I've bought several items from the marketplace as well though. It's my go-to for our Asian grocery needs. It's unfortunate for me that we live so far, but I do love my visits. read more
