Went to Original Joes twice in the last few months in different locations. First time the waitress messed up my order and, although I can't blame a restaurant for shitty service, nothing was done. My meal was gluten free and instead everything on the plate had gluten (no gf bun and crispy onions). The second time the food was awful. Also the gluten free menu doesn't have the prices. I was told to pick two sides so I did and then I was charged for one of the sides. I ordered food to go and the portion was laughable. The service was horrible in both locations, the food is not good AND it's ridiculously priced. I could have had an AMAZING meal at the Keg for just a few $ more. Our family came to Original Joe's in Vernon, BC because we had seen how the Original Joe's in Vancouver was always busy. Let me start by admitting that I now know why the Vancouver location is always very busy -- because Original Joe's food quality and service is one of the best in my experience. We were quickly seated even on a sunny Saturday dinner evening. My kids wanted to sit out on the patio with the nice weather so our hostess showed us to our table right away. Even though this Original Joe's is located in a shopping plaza, the patio is quite private due to the tall glass partition that separates it from the adjacent parking lot. Our server was one of two working the patio area. She was very quick and efficient, but always with good attention to detail and courteous. One example was bringing the sharing plates (since the 4 of us ordered 3 entrees) instead of having us ask for the extra plates like in many other restaurants. We ordered a Original burger, a Double Dog, a BBQ Chipotle Chicken salad, and a Mediterranean short rib appetizer. We were particularly impressed with the Mediterranean short ribs with the tasty spice flavour, crispy dry on the outside, yet moist and tender on the inside. The Double Dog is a giant hot dog built from two European weiners split halves on top of a nice rye hot dog bun. The Original burger was perfectly grilled with fresh beef (not at all like the fast food burgers). The BBQ chipotle chicken salad was loaded with lettuce, corn, beans, and nacho strips in addition to a large slice of BBQ chicken that is perfectly flavoured and cooked to retain a moist juicy inside. Each burger or sandwich dish comes with two choices of sides. We tried the garlic mash potatoes, mango pasta salad, roasted vegetables, and sweet potato fries ($2 extra). We were particularly impressed with the garlic mash potatoes that was nicely flavoured yet very light and fluffy. We were disappointed with the mango pasta salad as there was no signs of mango and the pasta was a bit under-cooked with a some hard bits. The sweet potato fries was good but some smaller pieces were too crispy (a bit over fried). We enjoyed our first time experience at Original Joe's. We would certainly try to return to another Original Joe's in the future. read more

The food at Original Joe's seems to be hit or miss. First time I went there the food was great and I wanted even more (not saying I wasn't full... I just never want to stop eating) but the second time it was pitiful. I don't know if it was just a bad night but it was bad. The next time I went was with a friend for wing night. The food was great and the price for their wings was really cheap, but the service was poor and it took us a while to even get our bill. We went to Original Joe's for Breakfast... It was really nice, unlike a few other places in Vernon... And reasonable... The smashed Potatoes were great... New potatoes, a big Turkey Sausage, Eggs, Bacon, Bread... and fresh fruit... everything was great! The service was prompt...and the server attentive... but NOT a nuisance... Very disappointed last night! Had a dinner with friends and my husbands steak sandwich made the whole table burst into laughter. The steak was TINY! there was another steak sandwich at the table of a normal size. When we brought it to the servers attention she was adamant then the steak was by weight and that it was a 6 ounce steak. We paid 22 dollars for this dinner! Great friendly atmosphere. Love coming here to catch the end or the start of the game that is one. Great place to have a dinner and a movie with the theater just a short walk. Parking can be a pain pending on the time of the day. My baseball team loves coming here after are games. One because the have lots of group seating plus the have a patio and the food specials on game night are great but if you don't want to have a special there is other great food on the menu read more

Served a Cobb salad with rock hard unripe avocado, grey-ish looking bacon, and shredded "turkey" that was obviously old and dried up in a solid ball for $17. Literally could not separate the "turkey" ball even by stabbing it with a fork...it was that bad!! Disgusting!!! Sent back. There is absolutely no reason something that horrid should have left the kitchen...Kitchen Nightmare quality. The waitress was great and quite attentive to the issue, graciously (many kudos to her)...but no manager anywhere to be seen. I would expect that after a dish like that goes out and comes back there would at least be an apology forthcoming, but no, which indicates how much attention to detail management has (the place was about a quarter full, after the lunch crowd left). Food was good...Just like the other locations I've been to and enjoyed. Staff was friendly. Service was a little on the slow side though. I will give them the benefit of the doubt however since they are still fairly new in that location and probably still getting some of the wrinkles ironed out. Great spot for appies and great food overall. Always nice to try some of their new seasonal menu items. No reservations, so show up early on busier nights. Favorite items: pineapple teriyaki burger, jambalaya, and of course the wings. read more

I've eaten in many OJ's but this one was a very different experience. My main course was dreadful, steak sandwich came tasting of dish soap, green salad came with some sour hideous tasting dressing and goats cheese. Fries were under cooked, and garlic toast was under toasted. Thankfully they did a better job of the rest of the family's. Not much but better. Server was quick and courteous but not enough to change my perception of this meal. I wouldn't return to this location. read more

Went to Original Joe's after a movie. The host was great at keeping us informed of wait times. We got a table within 15 minutes. We loved our meals, portions were large and service was fast. The only thing that we didn't like was when we asked if they had a highchair, we were told that there were no highchairs, booster seats or childrens menus available. My husband and I ate here for the first time for lunch the other day. We sat outside on the patio which was very nice. Our waitress was pleasant and checked on us often. I ordered the grilled cheese burger and he ordered the French Dip ; each came with two sides which we were able to pick. Not the place to have fish tacos! Drove into town and googled "fish taco in Kelowna" and a picture of Original Joe's fish taco popped up. Headed over to get my fix. When the taco arrived there were little broken bits of something brown, similar in size to bacon bits, but no nice piece of fish. I asked my waitstaff, "Do people ever complain that there is no fish in your fish tacos?" She assured me that they measured and put the same amount in each time. Well they must have used goldfish fillets the bits were so tiny! No satisfying fish taste just a bunch of slaw. So maybe they do put the same amount in each time but it is not enough to warrant being called a fish taco. Look elsewhere if it is fish tacos you crave read more

A date night place for us...not really kid friendly. The service was fairly decent, the food was good, although twice my food wasn't hot even though it wasn't very busy. I enjoy the Fish Tacos. And their Beer Caesar has become a favourite at home (I like theirs except for the pepper in the Rimmer). Disapointment at yet another upscale pub.As soon as my wife and i ordered soft drinks the waitress lost all interest in us.In fact,we did not see her again untill my dinner was finished.There was no drink refill,no how was your meal.Just like earls if your not drinking alcohol you can forget about service.As far as the food goes,i had the double dog entree which was really good.My wife on the other hand ordered the shrimp shanghia noodle bowl which was to hot for her to eat.Though it does say spicy in the menu,it dosent mention how extremely frugal they are with the shrimp.There were four little shrimp in a huge bowl of over spiced noodles.What a ripoff!!! 14 dollars for 4 tiny shrimp.They had the nerve to try and charge us for her crappy meal.I think not.We wont be going back.Also the hot dog i ate came to 14 dollars with cheese and bacon.
